A bit of a request for assistance for one of our honoured members who is working on a project. If you are coming to BETT tomorrow (Thursday the 30th March) and want to lend your experience to an international effort then please post up here. If you are not at BETT this year but still want to help, then please post up below and you will be contacted. We can't post up more details about this atm. as it's something that is being kept under wraps, but does require the help of those with in-depth knowlege of certain areas of edtech and policies etc. It is intended (trains, life etc. not withstanding) the person running this will be on the EduGeek stand at 1pm tomorrow if you want to find out more. Oh, and don't forget there is also free pizza on the stand at that time too!

Gordon Moore, Intel co-founder who predicted rise of the PC, dies at 94

RIP and what a legend. People will still be talking about him far, far into the future I think. A nice legacy to have. -
@leachim, just out of curiousity, what are the specs of the machine you are installing too! There was a wide array of CPU's around back then and nice to see some still being brought back to life

That's a good idea, there were a lot of XP based tablets like that back in the day. Toshiba also had one, but that does look like a Dell grey.

I was just about to post up a new one but noticed that no one had replied to this yet. I'm stumped, so will ask if you can give us another view.

BETT 2023 GIVEAWAY - What is your earliest gaming memory?

My best friend at the time got an Atari 2600 (wooden furniture) in 1980. Spent so many hours around his house playing Combat, Adventure etc. Then I got my first computer, a ZX81 (with RAM pack) and it opened up a whole world to me! -
Lance Reddick Dead: John Wick, The Wire Star Was 60

Very sad news. Loved him in Fringe and the John Wick films. -
Oh, that's a shame. SETI@Home used to be the coolest screen saver around! ETA - And being a leader in the world of distributed computing.

I'm off to see The Whale on Sunday in Lancaster with my son. Not seen it yet (he has) and very much looking forwards to it.

[bug/error] Site is pushing to HTTP
Dos_Box replied to CyBeRkId2002's topic in EduGeek.net Site Problems
It's being worked on. I would show you a screengrab I took this morning, but it looks like an internet version of a pic of someones bathroom halfway through being re-done! -
AFAIUI Some exhibitors are getting 'free' meetings as part of their package and others can simply 'buy in' without the expense of having to have a stand. From the companies and visitors I've talked too, almost everyone is finding it a little confusing and it remains to be seen just how effective Connect@BETT will be.

Oooh, that looks interesting, I'd missed the first trailer when posted up and it does look right up my street.

A much more civilised way of getting to BETT admittedly. Years ago we were given the loan of a stretched Hummer back when BETT was at Olympia. It smelt of cheap perfume and prosecco. I seem to recall we asked to get dropped off around the corner so no one would see us get out of it

Things that could have been improved before being approved...

Well, when there is no suitable clipart you just go for the next best thing. -
We do plan for the new site to have a store and we can indeed have the pins put in there. Usually we get a batch of about 500 made up for each BETT (sorry guys, no new ones this year as we barely scratched a single bag last year due to it being a (much) smaller show so have tons left over, and they are not cheap!). I'm also going to bring lots of spares pins from previous years as I keep finding them in bags and boxes all over the place, so if you are missing any, it may be the ideal time to make up your collection!

My kids used to use something which was exactly that. they used to use Lego ans Mario figures to make little stop motion movies. I'll have to see if I can remember what it was.
