  1. Sorry for bringing up an old thread but just wanted to thank @Ephelyon for the fix! Seems to be working great here and the 'my documents' are slowly disappearing as students logon
  2. We are using Firefly (we have for a few years now) What do you need to know?

I can understand many people might be unhappy if they feel they have been misled about what the game was going to contain. Personally I hadn't really followed too much of the hype - I knew for a long time that it was coming out but didn't check into it in to much detail (mainly as I've been burnt by early hype before - Landmark / EQNext for example + Archeage) For a long time I haven't really enjoyed the style of most games (mmos are just about quest hub to quest hub, and many games are just about owning people lol) I was looking for a much more exploration based game with a lot less combat required (I thought Elite Dangerous might be good but I don't really enjoy the complex flying and the combat isn't fun for me) I've been so happy with my £40 purchase (I've played about 14 hours so far and still only on my 6th System lol) and I will even be happy to pay for DLC's if they add extra features (that don't include PvP) It may be a shallow game to many people (and this might show that I have shallow requirements in a game lol) but the relaxed exploration nature of the game with the randomness (and lack of linear quest nature) of the gameplay is exactly what I want. People also keep saying that the game is repetitive having to do the same things each time (and mention that many planets are very similar) but the last few evenings I've played on the same planet (to farm and find drop pods) and each time something different and unexpected has happened to me (like last night getting lost in a cave hiding from sentinels and having to blast my way to the surface lol) It's a game that isn't for everyone but some people will really enjoy it like I do (but isn't this like most games?)

I would have said the space flight section is much more arcade-like than Elite (I see Elite as much closer to a flight simulator and always used to even struggle landing in space stations lol) With NMS you just have to point it at the entrance and it will auto dock (the same for planets as you come into the atmosphere it will auto slow down. I like it better as I don't need to wrestle with the complexities of flying Its like a mixture of minecraft (procedural generated + voxel but minus the building stuff at the moment) and a survival game (have to often make sure you have enough resources for your exo suit) For me the parts that are making it interesting are the random sandbox exploration natural of the game. (There are no quest npc's - although there is some form of a story IF you decide to follow it) My brother and I have both played it for about the same length of time - I'm onto my 6-7th system whereas my brother has stayed on the same planet to farm, upgrade his suit and ship and to get 100% completion on animal/plant discoveries. The game does have some issues at present (and the dev does seem to be doing well at fixes many of them) but even with the issues for me its the best game I've played in ages! (Although I've been waiting ages for a good exploration game anyway)

Have you tried some of the fixes that are available for lag? (Especially the Disable GSync and Max the FPS ones) https://www.reddit.com/r/NoMansSkyTheGame/comments/4xkj1w/pc_version_list_of_common_fixes_and_suggestions/ Has helped my fps smoothness quite a bit and a 670 isn't that bad a card

Played it loads over the weekend! Really enjoying it (especially now I have quite a few extra Exo Suit slots so I don't have to fight my inventory quite so much lol) Currently farming a planet with lots of Gold, Albumen Pearl and Vortex Cubes (if I can escape or kill the crazy sentinels)

    No Man's Sky

Read this to get an idea of why I'm looking forward to playing It's the randomness of things happening and the exploration of an unknown place (and that place being Sci Fi helps) that is really exciting Edit - I also think I will do as some have done and potter around on the started planet for some time before moving on (well unless its dangerous lol)

    No Man's Sky

Bought it on Steam for PC Can't wait for Friday release I've watched a few PS4 streams and it has got me really excited about playing but I'm trying to not watch to much so it doesn't spoil the surprises Have read quite a few negative comments but that's probably just from people who only like Full Loot PvP games
  11. Normally when I get this it is either an old record in solus with an incorrect ip address for the workstation or the server that solus is on is seeing the dns record incorrectly for the machine. Remove the computer from solus ipconfig /flushdns on the server do a ping and make sure that it is pinging the correct ip for the machine That normally sorts it for me
  12. Which game is it? As many steam games are available separately to steam (and might be easier to install that way?)
  13. We had the issue but I hadn't realized that an update was the cause. I fixed it by switching the Kyocera universal driver with a Kyocera KX driver which fixed the issue for us. Very strange!
  14. I always use www.videk.co.uk for my fibre patch cables. The 1m leads are - £5.45 for Aqua and £9.25 for Orange (although I can't understand why colour difference would change the price lol)
  15. Maybe add initial cost to purchase? Would be an interesting blast from the past to remember how much we paid for such old items. For Example I remember paying about £200 for a 260mb hard drive!! (I had a 40mb Hard Drive at the time so it was a maaaaaaaaaaaasive upgrade)
  16. PM Sent... thanks Dave
  17. Hi, Can anyone recommend a cheap laptop for programming / android studio. I am looking for a minimum resolution of 1600x900 (or more - system requirements specify 1280x800 minimum) 4Gb Ram minimum The CPU needs to be able to run Android Studio (The system requirements state - Optional for accelerated emulator: Intel® processor with support for Intel® VT-x, Intel® EM64T (Intel® 64), and Execute Disable (XD) Bit functionality) SSD hard drive would be a bonus but not required It would be nice if it was on the lighter / smaller side so I can program while relaxing on the settee It doesn't have to be new. And the cheaper the better lol EDIT : PS this is for myself and not a school purchase and thought I should add @ICTDirect_Dave
  18. Does the GV Tutor Email output something when run in sims? (or is it asking for parameters etc?) Does the user account running the batch file have permissions to write to the C drive?
  19. The secondary domain controller has been having these issues for a while (its exactly the same hardware etc) and we have been demoting it and re-adding it to fix the ntds.dit on that server (seemed to work fine) I'm just more concerned as this one is the primary and I haven't done FMSO moving and stuff before - and was really hoping for a less scary option
  20. We havent had any DC failures. There has been an issue with one of the disk volumes on another drive (seperate raid controller and Raid 5 volume) - but a scan disk has fixed that What sort of failures are you meaning? Although there was a hard crash (required server reboot) the day before - but we thought it was encryption causing the issue
  21. We have started getting the following error in our Active Directory event log. NTDS (652) NTDSA: Database C:\Windows\NTDS\ntds.dit: Index DRA_USN_index of table datatable is corrupted (0). The Active directory seems to be working correctly. The online defrag of the database that happens every 12 hours also seems to pass without issue - does this passing mean that the database is ok? Anyone have any pointers on how to stop this? We have done basic memory, hard drive checks on the hardware and all seems ok. Server OS - Windows 2008 R2 Raid Controller - LSI MedaRAID SAS 9260-8i Raid Config on drive with corruption - Raid 1
  22. After a few scores of Zero lol... What a jolly silly game
  23. Another Shockingly Saintly Must be the name Dave or something lol
  24. 2. As far as I've been able to work out you cannot lock the settings from being changed
  25. Lol wish I'd seen this thread yesterday!! Spent a few hours today trying to find out what was causing ppt and pub issues lol
