We mainly see it on staff computers. Our new build has OneNote entirely removed, so maybe it will stop it. Scrips had little to no effect

Hi All We have our WDS/MDT as Vmware vm, I wanted to upgrade NIC from E1000 to vmxnet3. Keeping same IP config. As soon as we do it and we try to build a machine over PXE it takes few attempts to connect to WDS to pull initial image. On E1000 it works flawlessly. Another thing we tried is adding another E1000 nic and switching server to this (same IP again) and problem occurs. Another weird thing is , on both network cards it works fine on same vlan as server, but problem shows on a different vlans (a different subnet) So just wonder if there is any MAC association in WDS or anywhere else that can cause it? Or is there another explanation, I really hope I described the problem clearly enough, but just in case more on example Network card on server: e1000 building machine on server vlan - fine building machine on classroom vlan - fine Network card on the server: vmxnet3 building machine on server vlan - fine building machine on classroom vlan - takes few attempts to connect to the server Network card on the server: new e1000 building machine on server vlan - fine building machine on classroom vlan - takes few attempts to connect to the server Each time only one nic is enabled Anyone seen this problem? Thanks in advance

Went on the train last Saturday for the first time since March, everyone had a mask, but some were covering their throat with it, lots of people didn't have mask on their faces. Shop wise, everyone time I went into one, everyone had their on properly, usually there was shop employee letting people in and they were telling customers to put masks on. -

Changing the subject slightly, if you usually work over the summer, is this back to normal for you or you expect it to be different. For me it looks like typical summer, there are 2 of us on site, plus 3 site team - very easy to social distance and stay safe. In other school not so far away from us, my friend , another Network Manager was told by management team to stay at home most of the time, unless it is absolutely necessary for him to be on site. He got some laptops to do and that is it. How about you guys? -

I wouldn't be surprised if we have repeat of infection spike sometime around Sept/Oct - it is summer now, most people go outside and still don't congregate that much indoors. Come autumns and rains ... Unless amount of people infected is near 0 - can't see that happening. But happy to be proven wrong -
Getting 24 Chromebooks and 5 mi-fi routers, probably the lot will arrive this week. So looks like it is up to school to distribute, but apparently county gave us a list of students.

So, would typical air filtration on the airplane, kill and stop virus particles? Really interested, as they think they will start regular flights next month. -

They can stream lesson without the webcam - just stream their desktop and sound, but they would need a mic - another hurdle. Unless the use laptops -

Cambridge, as shown above, already decided to do most of teaching online, we heard that Eaton school is not opening either - but clearly it is safe to open state schools? Mind you you probably could count more on social distaning among Uni students than school age children? But I guess as student you are grown up enough just to use online lectures, I would find it really hard -

Common sense, is not so common. And each person has own idea of common sense. For me it is just a way for the PM to say later, we have second wave, because people were not sensible - not his fault ! -

Thanks guys, all really helpful tips I can move all vms to the 2 hosts and add the new host from the new environment. The only problem is moving datastore - new storage as well. Same license essential plus. But if I get hold of eval standard license I can do it this way. Otherwise, it will be veeam. -

Thanks guys. Chris, my license is limited to 3 hosts and it doesn't support live migration of VM with it's storage. But previously we just used evaluation license key for standard version - we got it from a friendly supplier. But I think any new installation get evaluation license? If not I might try to find an eval license somewhere. -

Thanks for that @Davit2005 After I wrote the post I have start looking more in depth, and adding just a host to veeam might work. So I will try restoring vcenter from backup and vmotion VMs to the new setup over network - just need to configure vlans for it. Veeam already sits on a physical server with own storage, so it is not a part of current setup -
Hi guys Looking for ideas. This summer we will be moving our vmware environment to new one - all in one solution, probably VRTX.Currently we have 3 servers as ESXi host and SAN for storage, all connected through a dedicated switch. We use veeam backup Now I wonder how I move all of it to the new setup? Was thinking about veeam, but I think it needs vCenter first - am I wrong? Do I just create new Vcenter on new environment and bring vms from the veeam backup - would that work? Many thanks in advance

Google meet is dead easy, but I still had to provide idiot proof guides, Google own ones were clearly to complicated. I think this is very common now, people don't want to touch things till they get in person training, problem solving and ability to self learn among teachers is really low (at least from my own experience) - I think this is the case among general public as well. Sometimes it is much easier to google instruction than email us fro help - guess which one is done first... Lets hope maybe this situation will improve things a bit -
Thanks, already seen that page: Currently, Chromebooks support a few models of dongles, such as Huawei - not much information really The problem with router is, others in the house can connect to it, before we know it data will be gone. At least with the directly connected device we can limit it just a bit

We are looking at a different scheme and will be buying few chromebooks. Anyone know 3g/4G dongles that work with Chromebooks?? I couldn't find any approved items list at all.

We have quite small office, 2m distancing is impossible, there are 3 of us. As we are now open for key worker kids, one of us is in each day till 12.30. This is on rota, so I come in every third day. Quite happy with that. When school partially open would be happy to do that as whole day on site and rest work from home. Summer holidays soon and I supposed to replace all servers and do some other jobs. Can't see this as being a problem, as in the summer very often we work on different days and there is hardly anyone on site. -
I will urge people to make own opinion by watching, not by reading just a opinion article - own by multi billion dollar parent company. For me the most important was that we just can't continue business as usual. And when I see that big guns are so happily to invest in Biomass energy (still burning things - CO2 emissions) - it makes me wonder why? The filmmakers, I think, wanted for people to start a discussion, to start to wonder about how we consume and how much. I know lots of people think, nah not my problem, I will be dead by than etc. But I ask you look outside, remember last winter? Rain and more rain. Last week we had 20+ degrees in a middle of April, Europe didn't have a proper winter, hardly any snow - I have family in Poland and Czech Republic - they usually have plenty of snow for months. Things are not normal and we can already see it. But if the our leaders don't do anything, I think nothing will change. I'm just worried...

I think I need to clarify. My post wasn't about the new government program, but just example of a different program - we have a student that came from us form a different county, and for some reason that county funded a laptop for him - but we had to get it from their supplier, which was more expensive than I could find just googling it. Sorry I have cause confusion.
-
Watched yesterday. Really interesting, already there are lots of people who disagree with the message there. For me, the main message is, we cannot continue as it is, we should not just replace one type of energy for the other. I think we should carb our consumption and reproduction rate - but I have no idea how. And in my eyes we need our political leaders to want to change. Just making more money shouldn't be the goal. What you think?

I'm exactly the same. Around week ago I have notice I really enjoy being more at home, have more freedom and such. Don't like the idea of going back to work as normal, but we are lucky ones, still fully paid. There rumors here we might open after May half term for year 10 - classes of 10 pupils. Apparently most staff will be expect to be in but management is worrying how to deal with distancing of staff. And t o be honest we are here to educate, I don't think kids at home do much now. Still I will enjoy it, while it lasts -
Nope, this is the one: https://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/Lenovo%20Laptops/Lenovo_100e_Windows_2nd_Gen?M=81M8000LUK It is Windows laptop. WIthout looking hard you can find it for around £200 ex vat. So it made me wonder, if any company going to be involved in a government project for these laptops and if yes, who is going to check the pricing is correct and proper. Yes, I'm very suspicious guy.

One of the main comparison we could (imo) use is amount of testing. And I think we should try to catch countries that test more, not compare ourselves to countries that test less. I think government was acting to late, at the beginning mocking countries that did lock down and now have fever deaths. But I think there is something in British exceptionalism that lead the government and bit of Trumpism - we doing great, we are the best etc. I would like to see more modesty and more honesty.
