  1. I suspect it's due to the fact that audio-visual might be allowed in schools, across the board, but you don't want YouTube for Students. It's perhaps been considered more convenient to block - and allow a route to unblock - than to unblock and rely on schools to block. I think the issue is that you don't have access to some key features within the management console!
  2. Do you not see 'Add A Local Category' in top right corner? Is this an onsite Rocket, or one provided at LA level? If LA level or whatever then sounds like you've got to request access to the page or them to add the categories for you.
  3. For the software to log tickets against a user, it needs to know the users name and email address. The software will create them a user account automatically. They don't have to login though, they can just carry on using email?
  4. No, you don't. We have created a custom category called YouTube, added in the domain YouTube.com, and set this to 'Allow' for staff. Go to the Categories page under Web Filter > Add Local Category > Click Domains then search for YouTube.com and add it to the Custom Category
  5. We use OPSD. Why won't the software be able to reply to them? I'm a tad confused. Are you saying you want multiple helpdesk email addresses to be polled in, so you're having to forward them all to a single mailbox? Could you not just update the email address on the ticket to that of the sender?
  6. I'm asking about just a list of words though, not anything more. A text list.
  7. Interesting. How can a list of words be copyrighted?! Would this be the case with Impero @russdev?
  8. Key cabinet / master list in the safe.

    My Big Campus?

MBC as a product will be around until July 2016, at which point it will be turned off.
  10. It's like the Mary Celeste around my office. Not helping me to be motivated!
  11. D:\Build\Drivers is the location and they're all CAB files.
  12. I've not used it but the school nearby does. Not heard any complaints from them about it.
  13. How much energy is used by AV equipment left on? I'm thinking speakers.
  14. I don't disagree at all. There just seems to be a certain number of PC's you are managing before such software pays for itself, as mentioned above. I think 6-8 months to pay for itself is a little out?
  15. So for every 100 computers you turn off, you save £3.75 a week, £195 a year? Doesn't seem a huge saving when you factor in the 30 minutes it could take someone to go round and turn every monitor off too.
  16. Was £50 originally.
  17. https://www.vivoclass.com/ perhaps?
  18. If they have it already working as a Proxy server, why the need to remove it? You don't actually need to turn it off as such. Just stop pointing the clients at the proxy IP and port. They'll then go through the transparent Lightspeed.
  19. That's correct. Lightspeed can act as a Proxy. The table at the bottom of page 25 is useful. Depending on what level of filtering / reporting you want, will determine how you need to set the Lightspeed up. You can see from that table that without it running as a Proxy, the filter only gets so much information in order to make a decision.
  20. Yes it can but if you want HTTPS inspection it needs to act as a Proxy.
  21. I'd use up what you have, yes, else it's a waste? A lot of our printers were ready for the scrap yard, so we sent them away for recycling. If you don't need them then you could see if any local schools could make use of them?
  22. We did this a couple of years ago, and had a refresh last summer. We used up as many of the consumables we could - after all, they'd already been paid for - and then removed any old printers and went totally managed. We decided not to let departments keep any of their little printers, else it defeated the object of a managed print system. There's a monthly cost to lease the printers and that has to be paid regardless of whether the printers are used or not so it made no financial sense to keep supplying little printers while paying for the managed ones too. I think it's one of the best things we've done. We've got some good printers and if they do go wrong, the engineer(s) are great. Everything is logged through PaperCut MF and departments are charged. There's no question on who did what, as PaperCut reporting is spot on. Given you have a lot of stock left you could keep a few running and run as many big jobs through them as possible, such as letters home, newsletters if you still print them etc. That will use up the supplies and save you a few £ on the cost per page for the managed system, in the beginning.
  23. For us, we went straight over to Office 365. We exported out all of the mail from the onsite mailboxes straight into the Office 365 mailboxes. It only took a few hours to do it this way. We then just turned off the onsite Exchange. There's various ways to 'move' to Office 365.
  24. What equipment are they quoting for, and what do you have currently?
  25. I've figured it now, with the help of their fab support. If you go here https://business.avast.com/#network/devices then press the option to show the groups pane. Create all the different groups and link them to a policy, you can then drag the clients into the right group and they'll pick up the right policy. To begin with I was going in and editing each client.
