  1. TRUE Realtime Read SIMS data - google search 'TASC Insight' Have worked with lots of schools and discussed requirements with BECTA and other authorities. All 2010 requirements covered I love that smilie .......
  2. ... have you had a trial of PARS Connect yet? If not, give the office a ring and they will send you a link. You only pay for annual maintenance as you already have PARS.net Having a link from a more cost effective website to Connect will not break the budget AND as you mentioned... the data is hosted from the school not outsourced. Would I want my daughters data circulated and managed out of school... nope!
  3. Due to requests from schools we have to ensure read/write compatability with SIMS on as many features we have available although as you know all the features including detention registers & extra curriculum classes cannot write back as there is no-where in SIMS we can put these. As with TASC parental Access INSIGHT, data available to parents is directly from SIMS aswell as option to be PARS data seen from PARS so we have to make sure of tight compatability If you are having any particular issues, please flag them with the support desk - we can only improve with feedback and the more we get the merrier! Thanks
  4. Are Microsoft that quick!? back at ya!
  5. Thanks for the thread - TASC Software are involved in the writing of data although a small PARS licence is required to see SIMS data in Frog not the full licence.
  6. Hiya Do you mean merits and demerits in behaviour? Not sure really what the error is and can't find a log on our helpdesk database to check it. If you give the guys in the office they will sort it straight away. If you have any queries - please can you call the support as we don't always look at this forum as we can deal with it straight away. Many thanks
  7. Dave Berry has details of text messaging by the way as I was chatting to him about it last June! Contact me if you need further info [email protected] no point you buying more software when you already have it inbuilt in PARS plus all messaging is logged under students communication / history Ta
  8. I represent a company and our software is compatible on PDAs, laptops ... the software works fine HOWEVER I have seen schools spend alot of money on hardware yet the biggest issue in many schools is staff using them outdoors and many times, it's more of a man management issue that IT. Old builds are not great for wireless and the downtime compared to networked hardware is poor. Much of this will depend on ergonomics and if there is a budget issue then I would recommend that you try putting a networked PC into a PE room / office and getting feedback from teachers taking the registers first before you spend 'loads a money!' Also if you can get PE teachers to take registers or use laptops, generally it will be at the end of the class or when they get an opportunity in the day. Not sure what other schools reackon about this; I work in a fair few so tend to see this issue quite alot.
  9. Please note PARS is NOTcompatible with CMIS - PARS does all of above plus more and backwardly compatible with SIMS plus remote version of PARS allows parental access to their students behaviour. Behaviour is part of the software so no extra cost and no hassle of extra databases and updating student data more than once.
  10. I sound like a stalker to Edugeek.. ha ha! We are not crazy sales people at TASC so we won't bombard you with calls and marketing rubbish! We don't like sales reps calling us at the office so we won't do that to others. Please give us a ring in the office and we will happily offer you a demo and then discuss pricing. It really is worth having a demo as there system is so versatile you may find it offers features that will help your school which you may not be aware of. We can also advise you of others schools in your area who use PARS for you to visit so long as they are ok with this. Have a look at http://www.tascsoftware.co.uk and our telephone number is on there. Have to be very careful that I'm not seen to be promoting our product on here so please excuse lack of information. Best regards
  11. Hi Geoff TextAnywhere compatible with PARS and you only have to pay for the texts as the software is built into PARS and not the additional costs of software. All texts aither incoming or outgoing are attached to the student data and you will be able to see a full history of communication via contact management

  13. Following on from Quackers.. PARS connect has now been released following a couple of months of testing by a few of our schools. Initially it enables teachers to log on remotely for attendance, behaviour and grading. The option for parents to log on and see their individual students data will be available shortly in line with the 2010 requirements.
  14. Hi Joanne We havent had any issues in the past with Leap Year and you could continue to use PARS if you clicked on 'continue' when asked via the pop up on screen. Didnt think the problem would arise and regretably it did however it was fixed within the hour and we contacted as many schools as we could within that time to advise however many schools contacted us to check. I think its fair to say that the fact that it was fixed within the hour was a credit to our support team although it would of course have been better if it didnt happen at all. Following on from another post - we dont have specific reps for areas and we dont employ any old 'telesales' to work for TASC Software. If there are any issues please contact us asap and you will be transferred straight to one of our support.

  16. Unable to answer the thread however this may help as its a quote from one of our schools. Thanks
  17. .. and sorry about the headache. We recognised the issue at 08:15 this morning and all is ok now with the update on http://www.tascsoftware.co.uk As its your birthday we wanted to do something extra special for you ... Have a great birthday and apologies for the inconvenience Jenny
  18. PARS Behaviour, attendance and grading - SIMS Capita partners. Behaviour grounds added by teachers in PARS can be seen in SIMS as with many of our other features. Behaviour includes On report, merits, demerits, removals, detentions, re-schedule detention, inclusion centre and detention registers, parenta consent.... hey - its an option!
  19. On my own school experience using any type of Electronic lesson attendance system whether it be SIMS, PARS, Bromcom....for PE especially, I'll be honest and say that my findings are - how can I say this - the issue isnt with the hardware or software; its getting PE teachers to do it! Seems to be more of a man management issue than IT issue. Over and out quite quickly
  20. Hiya Nick Have taken heed and updated my signature now - I actually took it off a while back as I was accused of promoting my software during a discussion about missing marks which was rather annoying as I was genuinely after school advise. I've put it back on... subject to further 'promotion accusations'!! All the best. Jen
  21. Just testing my signature following preious threads Sorry for interupting
  22. please can you give support helpdesk a ring a TASC and we can advise. Thanks Jenny Urey - PARS Training Officer
  23. This is sensitive and if you have a school name connected to your profile, please do not reply unless its ok! What time does your school stop using a 'L' code and start using a 'U' code? As you may know the difference being an authorised/unauthorised code which can make a difference to school session attendance data. Interested as it seems to differ with schools on location. Please can you reply with a time and your location.. please The replies will be very interesting I am not from a school - I represent 'a company' who supply software. I shall say no more as I dont want this to look like an ad! I am truly interested in your feedback as I work with many schools and the question has been asked lots of times! Many thanks
