I do plan on having the server OS being the 64bit varient of R2 or 2k8. . -
Gonna give this a wazz. I rebuild our unused ISA into a IIS/mess about server. So i'll wack it on there and see how it goes.

Emailed them. . I think im gonna set it so its identical to the photocopyiers, departmental codes. Probably work out easyer for me, and less to learn for the staff.

Hi. Can anyone tell me if its possible to use shared accounts in Papercut AND top-up cards? The reason being is that we're considering implementing a departmental level printing account, with the only way that that department can get more money on the account is to purchase a top-up card and enter that. Is that possible to do? Ive been faffing for a few hours and cant find a way to do it? Thanks in advance all. .

Nope, but thats because we have CALs for each workstation/licence of XP. . Im tempted to bump all the servers upto 4Gb memory. Thoughts? -

Are the HP KVM products any good? The only rackmountable 8way+ KVM switch, with slide out keyboard/mouse/monitor, thats also IP viewable that ive seen costs over £2000!!!. Any recommendations on them? its doubtful i'd use the monitor much, although for space saving, it would be handy to have the option there. Although it'd be far cheaper i'd asume to get an IP KVM, and then a normal KVM for physical access to the stations with a normal keyboard/mouse/monitor at the side? -
lol. Didnt notice that. .

We dont have a facilites manager. . Although when i talked to the contractor who fitted the AirCon unit, i was told that as the room was small, considering the size of the AirCon, increasing the equipment in the room 3-4 times over whats already here would still be well within the capibilites of the unit. . -
Dabs4work.com are the best for me. Too many bad experiances with Misco for me to even considering using them.

Just the server room. Cabling is included in the infrastruture work, where ive been quoted for 2 new 800x1000 42u cabs & the moving of all the existing switches, patch panels, fiber, etc; to the new cabs. And we've already got Aircon. Backups will be done with Symantec BackupExec 10d to one of the servers, a backup server with several Tb of space. Not upgrading the existing ones. All are upto spec bar a few which are on a different plan. . All our switches are HP Procurves, with the primary being a 28xx series, and the rest being 2626 or 1800s. Wireless isnt a priority at the moment. The main switch is all gigabit, with every switch on the network in a stared topology. KVM isnt really needed, but i do plan to spec it in. Are there any solutions that are all intergrated with a LCD rack mount? WiFi isnt needed or planned. Racks & SAN arent needed either. We already have several UPS's. We have a 12way PSU specced too. Enviromental monitoring, im not sure if its needed or not tbh? Additional help has been specced in. I planned on speccing in an 10% 'contingency fund'. Although thats likely to grow a bit as i forgot to price up wo/ VAT. Thanks for all the input guys/gals.. Much appricaited, keep it coming. . -

Hi. Im speccing up a new network, having finally be given the 'go-ahead' to go into the 'advanced planning stage'. Is there anything im missing off the costs here: New servers. Monitoring software licences. Rackmounts for existing servers. Existing servers upgrades. Infrastructure work. Server OS Licences. VPN Concentrator. Anything im missing? Thanks. -
Is there a more indepth install guide anywhere? Im having problems getting this working, to any extent.

Done. So everything i put in a week A appears in a week A that ive set? What happens if a staff adds something to a bookable room? Does it allways appear there on that week? Thanks.
-
As in every 2 weeks the timetable is the same. How would we do that in the program without manually putting in every entry?
-
Got it working! Cant remember how i did it as i was just demoing it to someone. A few questions, is there a way to duplicate weeks on it. We work on a week A & week B system here, is it possible to duplicate them, or is it all manual input? And is it possible to edit the days, we only have 5 periods here. Thanks. .

Managed to, by playing around to, get something to display, which is a step forward, but the page displays: DATABASE ERROR The system could not contact the database. Please inform your administrator Close And also, it only displays from a remote computer, not directly off the IIS server.

Hi. Im trying to setup the room booking system with some free IIS software that ive found while browsing around the forums. Ive followed the guide for it to the letter, but whenever i go to view the site itself, either locally or over the network, it just says that the page cannot be found? Ideas?

Teachers resetting pupil passwords
boomam replied to dave-a's topic in Network and Classroom Management
What software is it that you've used to do that then? -
How have you done that? Im looking at implementing 3 ways to change passwords. 1 of them is in place, with a custom MMC for staff. The second will be this web app, and the third, would be like your proposing. Giving pupils and staff 3 ways to do it without bothering me. .

Ive just seen this: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/showpost.php?p=85511&postcount=3 I cant get the view on the left without the entire AD showing, hows he done that? Plus, is there a way i can stop the user pressing backspace too many times to get access to the rest of AD?

How have you attached the OU view to the custom MMC? I created a custom MMC myself, but i cant get the view you have on the left without the entire AD showing. Plus, is there a way i can stop the user pressing backspace too many times to get access to the rest of AD? -
Cant find them on your website? We use a variety of PCs here, from several NEC models, so RM ones and more recently, by my choice, some Dells. All but the Dells are easyily broken.

lol. Sorted it! Dunno if this was the right way of doing it, but i just removed the shortcut and shortcuticons tables from the left columns, and re-saved. I tested it on a VM of a base XP install, and no shortcuts showed up! .
-
How do i use Orca to remove the shortcuts? It just looks like the editing program for FM at the moment! .
