Regardless of the politics side of it it sounds like the only way to get this working exactly as you (they) want would be to host the virtual server instances in house so that they will inherit all of your filtering and monitoring. That, or somehow apply the exact same filtering monitoring to the external virtual servers? Would probably be easier to host in house?

I mean are the devices going to sleep or running out of battery and thus disconnecting from the wifi which shows as an offline event? Not really sure what you can do about that unless there's a setting in the device to force the wifi to stay on and connected even in sleep mode?

Chromium name Supported on DeviceExtendedAutoUpdateEnabled ChromeOS since version 126 So does this mean if you have a device on less than 126 as it has not been able to update for a while - it won't be able to pick up new updates even if it is on exended updates list?

Yeh I'd be looking at the busienss case first and foremost as "want because.......erm.......well....... shiny silver yum" is not gonna get you far with me, wheras "would like have to access garageband or Lumafusion in order to deliver the 2025 video music course" is a whole different ball game. Also I believe (not 100 sure%) that the free version of Mosyle only supports Ipads and if you want to start adding desktop or laptop macs you have to pay.

In one classroom I fitted a Dell Optiplex and that has has no issues since, same board same TFTs same cables. I think I need to buy a few Optiplex from ICT direct and see if that cures the issues in all 7 rooms.

Noooo I was hoping this years AMD ones were solid!! Hm interesting this is happening on 7 different rooms 3 different manufacturers of smartboard (Smart, Clevertouch, Samsung) and at least 2 different monitor makes (Dell or Phillips) so I just cant see it being the monitors here to be honest? Hmm cant help with the technical issue but if I had Bromcom I wouldnt be useing the data breech and downtime fest that is classcharts. You could spend that 5k a year on something really useful for the teachers. They'll get use to it in a week or 2.

Save yourself a giant amount of hassle and just deploy 1:1 chromebooks instead. Easily manageable from the google admin console, super configurable/lockdownable and smoothwall agent avaialble to do all the at home filtering. The days of windows devices to take home are long gone IMHO windows is and always has been just total unmanageable garbage as a 1:1 O/S.

You should buy it if there is a use case for it, but not if there isn't as its not cheap! For example we needed it for IT lessons due to a change in curriculum so they use Dreamweaver, Animate, Illustrator and Media Converter in the IT dept now and I thought great the licences can be used in other areas if DT wanted to use Illustrator or InDesign thats cool they can now and if art wanted to use Photoshop now then can too. I had it agreed at governor level that we would licence 70% of the school every year so now departments know they can use that software in their classes year on year if they need to. Overall the software could be a bit easier to package/distribute/update/cache but for end users, it's great.

Lenovos here - theyre OK not perfect. The new 100e don't seem as good as the older 100e. Dell used to be good but we cant buy them any more because of framework issues sadly. Why do you think you need more than 32GB? You can set a setting in your google admin console where all work gets automatically saved into google drive so that theres nothing really stored on the chromebooks themselves.

Yes you can install creative cloud and any of the programs. When the user opens them they get prompted to log in with whatever the associated account is e.g. a school office 365 account @schoolname.sch.uk

Thanks I like the rotary knob for the resolution. TBH i am 95% sure it isnt a cabling issue as if I plug a dell optiplex in or even a chromebook everything works fine. The vast majority of the cables are 5metres and of high quality. Its LENOVO!!!!!! :-/
