ICE in melting SHOCKA!! Our exclusive report from the North Pole brings you these pictures. http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/1858/oceanyj3.jpg http://img233.imageshack.us/img233/1858/oceanyj3.df9d4f9954.jpg The disappearance of the Arctic sea ice, making it possible to reach the Pole sailing in a boat through open water!! Scientists say the ice at 90 degrees north may well have melted!! "We are looking at a nationwide trend of crisis proportions," said Clyde Simms, director of the USDCA's potables division and Clinton-appointed Beverage Czar. "If the current rate of melting continues, we may face a situation in which Americans are not assured the option of having an ice-cold beverage in their hands at any given moment." I foresee a lot of lawsuits over whether candidates were of "equal ablilty", surely that is a pretty subjective term. When you go for an interview will they be honest with you and say "I'm sorry Mr Smith, you were qualified to do the job and you interviewed well, but we gave the job to a black lesbian blind deaf jewish transexual who had similar qualifications and experience to you"

It gets worse this only 1 in a series of posts, you can also check out other 'themes' such as 'cheese' and 'chicken'

Now I normally like the Guardian online, but do people actually get paid to write this? I await the follow up with interest, "What can I eat for dinner". Join the prawn sandwich brigade | The Money Blog | Guardian Unlimited

PAYG may allow roaming but they will not normally show a signal if they require registration or activation. If you are going to SA you can activate it there.

We used to use Firstclass, it is alright if setup properly but it is not as good as exchange. FWIW I think the client is pretty bad personally. We were going to move over to exchange, certainly for the staff.

Thats it exactly. Its the same idea as job evaluation where a dinner lady should get the same hourly rate as road worker. I propose we solve the problem by banning part time work or even better banning full time work!

But another example was over 70s could not get travel insurance and this law would enable them to buy that insurance. Surely it is statistically more likely that over 70s will get ill, die etc. on holiday so could the insurance companies use the rules you mentioned above to get out of that?

It could work in reverse. On the news this morning the example given was where Male primary school teachers will be hired over Female primary school teachers.

That's not to Scale!

Why did the Chicken cross the Möbius Strip? to get to the other .. er ...

We replace our equipment every 3 years. You could try and keep "spares" as well to allow for hardware failure. Or get the longest warranty and replace when it expires.

It depends on the bitrate / resolution of the files. If only 2 people want to play it at once then 100mbit may be OK. It depends how much network traffic you have at the moment.

There are many ways to convert DVDs to a video file. I have not done this for a while so perhaps someone else on here will recommend the way they do it? These threads should help. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/networks/20656-streaming.html http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows/6988-ripping-dvds.html

No sorry I meant the 1st poster. I would create an msp rather than directly modifying the .xml if you are at all unsure about what you are doing.
-
Did you make an msp using setup.exe /admin
-
Convert the DVD to .avi and stream it. There may be copyright issues. How fast is your network?

I think they are taking the P. They should charge per whole device tested ie 1 laptop, 1 PC. Not 4 times for every laptop. That reminds of the day the PAT tester started unplugging all our servers to test them. That was a fun day.

So you have BSc in Computing (honours?)and some voluntary experience in IT. To be honest that is all you would need for an entry level role. Your degree may actually put people off. I wouldn't limit yourself to technician roles, you could try and get 1st line helpdesk roles first to build experience. I would say the main things you have to build on is your experience. Try local companies and see if they need any IT work done, you could freelance. You could also take some IT training A+, N+, CCNA, MCSE etc. As for your GCSE / A-Level just down play them, your degree makes up for it so on your CV put 7 GCSEs & 3 A-Levels (or how ever many you gained, not the grades\subjects). See if you can get any support on being in an interview, it does not come naturally to many people and will take practice to appear relaxed and confident. Your Uni careers service can help. You could also try registering with some recruitment companies to see if they have any IT posts going. There may be a NM on here for a School near you who would be willing to have you come in for the day and see what the job involves. When you are filling out application forms, make sure your grammar & spelling are perfect. Spell Check everything and ask someone to read over it to see it makes sense.
