  2. The problem you have with odf just now is teachers will create their letter/document and email it out and unless it is in .doc format there will be confusion at the other end. Like it or not the old office formats are still the de facto standard. Its a bit of a chicken and egg situation.

  4. You can also use GP to specify the default save format as the old format, or install the compatibility pack on your computers without office 2007. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=92D8519A-E143-4AEE-8F7A-E4BBAEBA13E7&displaylang=en Download details: Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats You can get the classic menu back in Office 2007 if you are willing to spend some money, although I'm not sure how useful this as your users will surely be confused when they go elsewhere and find it missing. 8. WTF! The police spend far too long on the phone trying to explain that its not an emergency and suggesting alternative phone numbers. They should take a harder line once its clear its not an emergency they should quickly tell them and hang up, if they phone back go and have them arrested or issue a fine.

  10. All the CISCO kit we use is noisy as hell, for testing you could take the fans out or run a simulator?
  11. Perhaps O2 have been reading this thread and want to reward my marketing, but they just sent me a txt to say they are knocking £5 off the monthly cost of my tariff! (sim only £20 a month for 600 min, 1000 txts and unlimited data, no contract either so you can cancel at any time - very good for an unlocked iphone I must say) Tariffs - O2 pay monthly SIM only tariffs
  12. OpenDNS seems to be the most popular, I use them myself with various ISPs and have never had any problems.
  13. ah TalkTalk the ryanair of broadband!
  14. If you have an O2 phone (any contract or PAYG), broadband is £10 a month for 16Mbit down / 1.3Mbit up (LLU) They do not seem to restrict your downloads by throttling, capping, or port blocking at all, so you will see the max speed your line will allow (in my case 15/16Mbit) and you can download 100+GBs of data a month if you like. 12 month contract, no connection fee, 50 day money back guarantee if you are unhappy after signing up, free wireless router, UK (glasgow) helpdesk if you need it. Whats there not to like?

  16. Oh dear, oh dear. Trust me the people on this thread have supplied their constructive view of your CV and you would be better placed if you were to follow their advice. You have not had any luck with this CV, it is time to try something else. Nobody is trying to personally attack you or you friend they are only trying to be helpful. The fact is this CV is not good enough to land you a post, and I agree with the other posters that it would be thrown out. The layout is not good, you spend too much time talking about your personal life, employers really do not care. They want 2 sheets that sums up what your about that is all. I can see that you may have had a hard time in the past but it does you no favours to rush into belligerent statements like those above, if you have this attitude in an interview you will be shown the door quick smart. You need to redo your CV with better presentation, less personal background (save it for the interview) more focus on your previous jobs and what you achieved. Then be relaxed and confident at the interview. You are welcome to adapt the two designs attached. Best of Luck. untitled.doc untitled 2.doc
  17. Oh yeah completely agree the first we thing do with any new hardware is deploy either an unattended install or image to them gets rid of all the crap and sets them up with a standard build. I thought the OP was getting these PCs pre supplied with an image (schools image?) ready to go, hence the sysprep.

  19. nuke it from orbit! na what he said, also try rebooting 1st to make sure files are not in use and don't login as the user you want to delete (doh)
  20. The time to boot and copy a new answer file is probably more than just answering the questions I'm afraid.
  21. Fair enough, why don't you post up your CV (omitting obvious personal info) on either here or at Employment & Jobs - CertForums
  22. I'm sure you know this already but - Always remember you need to tailor your CV to each job. For a Supermarket I would downplay qualifications, technical skills and empathise customer service, timekeeping, teamwork, and so on.
  23. I sent you a PM with 2 posts in London if you were willing to commute.
  24. eh - Who told you that!? If you have 8 years experience in IT I'm sure you will be able to get a post even without any certifications. Just keep at it. Try applying to schools / companies direct. You only need to find 1 person willing to take a chance. When you have the job and some money coming in then you can do A-Levels / IT certs.
