We've ditched 'The Life Channel' in favour of Xibo. It runs on very little hardware and allows one central server with multiple screens around school, showing the same or different content. It can be a bit tricky to get the layout working how you want but once its done, its easy to maintain. There's good support from the Xibo community (and edugeekers) too.

If you can't put CCTV in there, then check after each lesson for a while and report any damage. Name and shame (with SLT buy in) If you can put the names of the culprits up on the wall or make them miss the subsequent lesson, they'll soon get the message. Its a pain and very time consuming but as others have said it should only need to be done for a short amount of time before things improve. If you don't have SLT support then you're stuffed anyway.

Pretty much the same here, except our SIMS server is a VM on our host and we pay a 3rd party, CAPITA approved company for SIMS support.

CCTV camera in the ICT Suite(s). Make sure everyone knows its there, especially the students. It will save you time and money in the long run.

Its been a while since I checked out the automated subtitles on a VeryPC youtube video. They did not disappoint! I feel for you @sonofsanta. I've only ever used one Stone PC and that is the espresso web box which pretty much looks after itself. I've had to replace the power supply once in about 5 years. That's it. Don't know what their stuff is like these days.

OK. Was worth checking though - I've had this before with the time on a NAS box drifting to the point where the drive maps just disappear without warning. It will be something simple but elusive - these annoying things always are...

Clutching at straws here but are the time and date settings exactly the same on all servers/storage?
