I have, but A) I don't want RGB lightbulbs, I want it as an accessory to the room, not as its main source of light, and B) the security of Philips Hue bulbs is laughably poor (or at least, it was a awhile back from what I dug up)

I basically feel like that about any online game now. Time was I could fire up a multiplayer game and just ride solo, but now there's so many trolls and griefers that it just ruins the experience. Couple that with the fact that online video gaming is my main form of socialising, and it just ends up with me only playing multiplayer games if it's with friends.

My games of the year has to be Hollow Knight. After being so decidedly 'meh' about metroidvanias since I was about 12, Hollow Knight really re-ignited my love for them. The artstyle is fantastic, the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal, and there's enough kinda-hidden-but-not-required content to scratch my completionist itch. @Domo PUBG's popular because the mechanics behind the gameplay are relatively simple but leave a lot to change between games. Even if you do the same tactic over and over, games are always different, and the mechanics are simple enough that you can figure them out (find gun, shoot not-friends) but can be silly levels of complex once you get stuck in (psychology, do I shoot or bide my time, etc). The game needs a lot of work. Graphics are so-so, the netcode is utter trash, but if nothing else PUBG stands testament to the fact that you need good mechanics more than anything else in a game. It's to play on your own, though. Always with friends. Even if @bald_pig does capsize motorboats.

I've been looking at the Nanoleaf Aurora recently and I'm sorely tempted to get one, but there's one issue: It's a 'smart' appliance. And we all know how this story so often ends up.. The kit itself seems fairly straightforward but I can't find any information about its security. I know it connects via Wi-Fi, and can be controlled by a device on the same network (i.e. a mobile phone or Home/Echo/other flavour of personal assistant) but their user manual doesn't offer much insight into anything specific as to whether it phones home or whatever. Failing that, it can simply not be connected to a network and it has a few built-in colour profiles and effects, but you lose all customisation that way. Also wondering if anybody has one and can give me their thoughts on it.

lmao that wouldn't surprise me, but I'm fairly certain she's a Miss Nanny. Checked the wiki, the wiki has her down as a Miss Nanny too. Mind you, it's a wiki, so it's not infallible, but probably the best we'll get. There are some great Fallout 4 mods on PC. Weapons, armour, settlements, companions, enemies, weather, textures, lighting, character models.. Some of my favourites are Crossbows, improved Super Mutants (adds in Nightkin et al), better weather, better sneaking mechanics, and the 'put your weapon down when you're just aimlessly wandering around' mod which is just QOL. I also have mods for armour, the Alien Blaster, 'Effect chips' (that let you disassemble weapons with effects like burning, bug-hunters, etc and when you've gathered enough (about 4-6), put an effect of your choice onto a weapon of your choice), and plenty of other little weapon mods (more variations of parts of existing weapons) It does increase loading times though

Well when you first go in a little girl's cat runs away. If you find it and tell it to go home (because that's what a cat would do ) then a little boy gets bitten by a mole rat and starts a new quest that ends up with you having another potential companion: A Miss Nanny robot that got modified to serve medical roles named Contagions Vulnerability Robotic Infirmary Engineer (CVRIE), dubbed Curie. But even though she's basically just a french-lady version of Codsworth, she actually has a companion quest that I thought was pretty interesting. Although it turns out that actually, upon doing some research, most of the companions actually don't have companion quests. Boo! I should revisit Fallout 4.. I never did get around to finishing any of the DLC.. I know I did some of the Automaton stuff but that's about it.

Yeah, it does that. I meant the bit where you gotta go find it again afterwards. IIRC the little boy doesn't get bitten by the mole rat (which opens up the rest of the vault) until you've done that?

I accidentally found Curie, too. And by Curie, I mean that bloody cat that starts the whole sidequest going. I wasn't even looking for it.

Oh, also Curie. I'd say Curie's quite difficult to find though. Not too difficult, but certainly harder to accidentally stumble across than the others. Which is quite a shame because her companion mission is actually really interesting as a concept. I find a lot of F4's companions are quite easily forgotten though. Like Deacon, or M:censored:y (semi-ish-maybe-kinda-sorta-spoiler) Cait, Valentine and Curie are my go-to's.

No spoilers, but chugging some jet or other chems helps too Yeah she's fairly easy to max relationship, I just like her for her attitude tbh. Valentine's quite fun to hang around with too. Danse can shove off. Dogmeat's fine if you want a companion that shuts up, but I get bored of him. Piper I've never travelled with, she irritates me. Hancock I got too late into the game to care. And I forget if there's anyone else. #VaultTecGhoulForACompanionPls

Email from Gog about Titanic: Adventure out of Time being on sale. It's one of my earliest memories of PC gaming (released in 1996!) and it's an absolutely fantastic game, blending tragic history with a thrilling fantasy*/mystery sub-plot that can get quite tricky if you're not paying attention. Very few hard-fail states, but there's a fair few subplots and it's possible to muck them up and render them incompletable which changes your ending slightly. For four quid, I'd definitely recommend it. * plausible fantasy - mixing in events and a mystery that probably didn't happen, not ray-guns-and-space-elves fantasy

We didn't exactly get much screen time with Jodie Whittaker, but I'm OK with that. To give us more time with her they'd have had to shorten the main story and I think its length was pretty perfect and it left things nicely resolved. Nice to see Nardole again, and I'm happy that they didn't use timey-wimey-BS to bring Pearl Mackie/Bill back for another episode. I also didn't feel left-out from not having ever seen the original Doctor Who, and kudos to the BBC for keeping in the completely-accepted-in-its-time sexism but downplaying it whenever it came up. That's the right way to address it as far as I'm concerned. Only thing I didn't get was who that WWI soldier was supposed to be. Felt like his name was supposed to have some form of impact but.. Idungeddit...

There's a lot of difference! Wagon wheels have a biscuit component, but that doesn't make them a biscuit. A cheesecake isn't a biscuit. I'm not sure what I would classify it as beyond 'confectionery' but biscuit just feels wrong. A fig roll is a type of sweet roll, which get stolen by Butch at your 10th birthday party is also not a biscuit.

Jaffa cake argument aside, I'm not entirely sure that Wagon Wheels and Fig Rolls count as biscuits either.

Sounds like the same issue to me. It worked for her until I cleared her profile off the machine (for unrelated reasons) yesterday. Then she logs in (Windows creates a new profile) and it's all gone to pot. This seems to be the case on all the machines that get this issue - anyone who already has a profile gets printers. Everyone who doesn't gets none. And once it's broken (i.e. someone logs in and realises they got no printers) all subsequent new logons/profiles don't get them either, such as when I log in with test accounts. My point being that the pupil devices constantly 'don't have profiles' since we have delprof2 running on them, but seemingly aren't effected by this bug. Perhaps the mandatory profile is helping somehow?

Given how the issue manifests, it seems to me like something in the building blocks of a local profile gets itself into a permanently b0rked state, so any new profiles that are built from that point use the broken settings and don't get printers. But all ones built before the break appear to work fine. So in the case of the member of staff I mentioned earlier, removing her profile resulted in her having a new one generated, she's been hit with the issue. But it might be worth adding that this doesn't happen for our kids. Our pupil machines have delprof2 running on startup, so they're constantly generating new profiles. Difference being, they use a mandatory profile. I may have to build a mandatory profile for staff and see how that fares..

Another one happening here, member of staff had mucked up her profile so I cleared it off, her new one has the printer errors. Her local printer appears unaffected, but her network printers have vanished. I've taken this opportunity to try deploying a printer via Computer Configuration/Preferences/Control Panel Settings/Printers rather than Computer Configuration/Policies/Windows Settings/Printer Connections, but that hasn't worked either.
