I feel like this is where Chromebooks are king, and it's good that the DfE did give those as an option. If only it were so simple, though. The problem is that you then need someone to admin the tenancy and whatnot, so as much as the OOB setup is painless, there's still a lot of work to do behind the scenes.

Instagram was 100% available We had to send one back out again so I jumped on to it to remove all files/web history/etc and the previous user had enough instagram urls in their history for me to confidently say it was available. Can't speak for facebook though.

True, but the trick is let prospective tenants know. Tell them "If your checks all come back OK, we're good to sign." or something. I'm not inferring that specifically you personally do or don't, but I've only ever had that once. Every other time we had to hope that was the case.

Can only parrot the same.. Yeah, that sounds about right. Landlords own the market. Generally speaking they'll shift all the 'risky bits' to before they offer you the tenancy, even if it's a massive inconvenience to the renter. 'Cause everybody does it, so what're you gonna do, just go elsewhere?

Call me pessimistic, but I'm not fully convinced your standard residential home has space for all the stuff they need in a recording studio -

[1903, au] Bulk adding a local administrator account?
Garacesh replied to talksr's topic in Windows 10
Er, yeah, I didn't even read why you wanted this. Giving kids localadmin is a terrible idea. As soon as you do, every single one of your safeguarding provisions is rendered moot, as they can remove them all. -
Don't do it this way. You still want it to at least disable accounts that aren't valid in AD (e.g. we use (&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(mail=*)(!(userAccountControl:1.2.840.113556.1.4.803:=2))) which defines any user object that has its e-mail attribute set, and is not disabled.) In GCDS, you want the Exclusion Rules tab of the Google Domain Configuration page. GCDS will effectively ignore anything you add in there, such as user aliases, groups, or users that don't exist in AD. For example, our school Governors get G Suite emails, but since they never log on to the domain, they don't exist in AD. Solution? Exclusion rule based on email address.

Same method. Startup Scripts can be .ps1 files -

I had to fill out a form that said where I'd be staying etc after coming back from Denmark last year. I know people who said they did have bobbies knocking on the door to check they were in, but I had nowt. I could've been swanning around town or whatever for all they knew, nobody checked on me at all. Anecdotal, but still.. Underfunded, over-stretched police and all that. -

I genuinely don't understand the attitude. No, it's not mandatory, but it's still for the greater good, why is that so bad? It's like people take it as a personal attack. "Oh, you're wearing a mask around me. You must think I'm diseased or something. How dare you?!" -

My first thought, too. Well, outside of a certain fascist ruining armbands for everybody But yes, the + icon is definitely associated with first-aid for a lot of folks, and the last thing you'd want as a vulnerable person is to have people trying to drag you close to other folks because they got the wrong impression. -
I thought TeamViewer were doing pretty good with anti-scam warnings etc? I can't remember the names of softwares I've seen crop up in Kitboga streams/Jim Browning videos/etc but it's usually never TeamViewer.

I'd be curious to see covid stats next to % of population tested daily. I do feel the stats are somewhat worth less (though not worthless) without it. After all, if we suddenly, somehow, tested literally everybody in one day, stats would jump through the roof. I tend to assume stats are ≈± across a reasonable period. Hopefully trending towards more tests but probably not. -

I mean if you're gonna be grouping folks up together indoors, it makes sense to ask them to test beforehand? I'd be much happier with that than them not asking. Thankfully we're still wearing masks here. This is the last week of term anyway so as much as the restrictions in our LA are removed, we're just going to carry on as we have been doing. Though I suspect there will be significantly more resistance to mask-wearing from the pupils now. I expect by the end of the week, most of them won't be bothering to wear one at all (as opposed to the wearing them under the chin they're doing at the moment....) -
There was a lot of talk about this a while back, and the consensus was that that some call centres did indeed tell customers employees that they were Microsoft et al, and they did believe they were doing genuine work. So some phone drones were being taken for a ride, and probably taking some of the fall too. Not a huge percentage, though. The vast majority of scam call centres are 100% dedicated to the grift, or just legit call centres with folks pulling malicious ghost shifts. Best way to hazard a guess (as if it matters, in the grand scheme of things..) is does the phone drone connect to your PC, then pass you on? Probably knows about it. Do they pass you on and the new guy connects? Might be pretending to be legit. Also might just be transferring you just so it seems more legit. You can never truly know for sure. But then again this kind of practice is so widespread in places like New Delhi and Kolkata that I do wonder how much the average Joe knows about it, and whether a regular Joe Public would be wary enough to see the signs that this tech/phone job isn't legit? (Or are they so desperate for cash they don't care, I have no idea what India's economy is like)

Which is fantastic when you consider that (at least, according to a letter going home to P/Gs) schools will no longer be required to track and trace, and 'everything will now be controlled by NHS Track and Trace'. He said, sarcastically. -
Wait, there was a policy? I thought you had to modify a DLL in the .wim before you deployed?

We can make an entire beauty regime.. De-deodorant, ShamPOO, Poothpaste.. Not entirely sure what our school is doing for next week.. So far kids have had to wear masks even in lessons because our area kinda of screwed with Delta, but there's been no communication at all regarding the moronically-dubbed 'freedom day'. -
Didn't only Warlords get remastered? Or are there Samurai's Destiny and Demon Siege remasters I've somehow completely not realised exist? (Dawn of Dreams I could take or leave tbh, it was alright, but not as good as the others)

Check out @DaveAshworth, actually gets to put stuff in the WEEE pile -
First-person shooter games basically require a mouse But if you can get behind using an analogue stick, they're definitely fantastic games everybody should play if they haven't.

Booo! That's a bit rubbish.

Garacesh replied to kennysarmy's topic in General Chat
Realistically, summer jobs here are mostly 'Tidy up the cabling in the server room', 'Reimage everything to 20H2', and 'move users to the new OU's/GPO's' Not exactly looking forward to it, but it could be a lot worse.
