Nice idea - but what can it do that GAM does not already do? GAM is pretty fully featured and well documented + has easier to use syntax (unless you are a Powershell guru I guess).

Works fine here. There is a 'Allow' bit that comes up for students when they use cast for the first time - must OK this for things to come up. Does not work across sub-domains yet if you have them. You also need to be on Chrome/ChromeOS 52+ for it to work. Don't know about proxies as we use Securly offsite filtering (being Google Apps) - so nothing onsite.

Staff homepage when they fire up Chrome Student homepage when they login. Staff site will be moved to the new Google Sites once page level permissions arrives.

So on Papercut our staff are either set to auto print to one account (if they only have one - so maths if they are a maths teacher). If they have more than one - when they send a cloud print job, after they print (much like on a PC) they have to assign an account. So they go to a local web page and signin as themselves and a pop up that looks like a web version of the PC pop comes up and they pick an account. If they do nothing they get an email reminding then they have a print job that requires their action (this is triggered 20 seconds after they send the job if they do nothing). They then pop to their nearest copier, sign in and release the job(s). Been working well for the past few years.

So the best approach (and what we use) is to have embedded Papercut on the copiers. then its a simple matter of publishing the printer/copier/virtual print queue to Cloud Print and sharing it out (generally to groups not individuals). Without Papercut, you will need to Google Cloud Print service running on your print server. This will then allow you to share the copier to your users (we have a students Google Group and I'm the owner and I accept for the group - so the printer just appears for them).

Google Drive stuff is encrypted at rest and in transit by default. You can also block downloading of files, re sharing etc if you want to. This all assumes you are using GAFE.

We have a shared folder for school photos on Google Drive - so unlimited storage. Read only for most staff (link on the staff site) - a couple keep it tidy and people just share new stuff with them. For stuff on the website we use Flickr Pro as its easy to embed galleries - but might move to Google Photos soon.

We use Aerohive which has been pretty good over the years. We got our kit and support from LAN3 who have been very helpful.

Do the full - this will upgrade everything.

Securly is a good option if you use Google Apps. Entirely cloud based and works well. Can be deployed in an hour or so depending on the complexity of things onsite.

Assuming you have just added a sub-domain to your GAFE setup and want to change users account names to the domain name you have added then in GAM do something like: gam csv listofusers.csv gam update user ~oldusername username ~newusername gam csv listofusers.csv gam delete alias ~oldusername Where listofusers.csv has two columns headed oldusername and newusername and lists all the users you want to change the username for. The second command will remove the old username from being an alias.

I'm not sure about the script (I'd suggest posting in the UK GEG community on G+ - someone like Oli Trussell will know). For the weekend ones, you can do this with a content compliance rule. Put the users into a Sub-OU and apply a mail rule that which matches Sat or Sun in the header - set it to send an automated reply. Not tried it - but should work - but not with a time.

We use ChromeOS as our main OS. In classrooms we have teacher Chromeboxes hooked up to monitor/projector/tv. We mainly get Acer ones but have some Asus as well. Staff all have Chromebooks as well. Mainly HP 11 G4 4Gb units. To access SIMS and a Windows desktop we use Ericom AccessNow which works really well and is not too expensive. For printing we have managed cloud printing via Papercut MF and Sharp copiers. We are just starting to go 1:1 with Chromebooks and are deploying the touch/flip Acer 738T which is a nice device and will be the first to have full access to the Play store. We also have some Dell devices which have been good - but in the one instance we had to use their warranty service they were a bit hopeless were HP/Acer have been pretty good. Let me know if you need any more info - we are a Reference School and do offer visits and help with ChromeOS and Apps.

You can set a ChromeOS device to auto-boot into whatever app you like by setting it up as a kiosk mode device. We use AccessNow to allow access to a Windows desktop on ChromeOS (our main OS - so just needed for access to SIMS by staff mainly) which could easily be launched as a full screen web app. You would need to have Google Apps setup as this would require management licences to be able to do this to devices. However, as already stated, this sort of misses the point of ChromeOS. If you want to use ChromeOS devices seriously, you should really have all your users on Google Apps and work in this ecosystem - we are a Google Reference School any happy to help if you need it.

We use Ericom AccessNow - see my latest video: It costs - but works very well and is important to use as ChromeOS is our main OS now. We used it for a few years and it was generally hated by all. Confusing, expensive and generally a waste of time. We have replicated the functionality we want using Google Sites, Sheets, Docs and a few addons (Autocrat and Copydown) (we are Google Apps School) - simple to use and free.

We are also a long standing Spiceworks users. Works great. Link in managed bookmarks for staff - vast majority use it. Mobile app works well when I'm out and about. Best of all its free (other than the cost of its ssl certificate).

Yes - in account settings (click the little person icon - then the bottom option on the left), you can select the Insync folder location. In selective sync (top option) you can pick which folders from Drive to sync.

Yes - as easy as that - not sure why anyone would pay give unlimited storage is available for free. Would go GDrive not onedrive - but then we are a Google Reference School - so a little biased!

Those account currently hold about 6Tb. Server backups (so virtual machine daily backups and the like). We also sync all security camera footage to an account and share on a google site for the people who need to see it. We use Google Apps for everything - so not really got much in the way of local docs as everyone has unlimited drives.

We use insync - $25 per year for 3 accounts. Sits on a backup server and syncs to a Google Apps account. Seems to work very well - requires no intervention. insync works a lot better and has many more options than the regular gsync app.

We locally host it. The finance team are generally happy with it - but they always seem to be calling up for support and the support when I've had to deal with them are fairly clueless. To get it working on finance PCs required lots of manual configuration on each PC including manually editing the individual users local profile. PSF did the install on a server I built for them and it took days for them to do their stuff on a remote session. We are left with no documentation on what to do if a fiance PC dies and we need to reinstall the whole lot. So from an IT perspective I'm deeply unimpressed with them and the software. We are moving to a MAT and I believe it is going to be cloud hosted - so hopefully it will cease to be my problem.

Everyone has access here. Students get restricted mode, staff unrestricted. Staff can approve restricted videos (and now playlists) as required.
