The xbox 360 already has this with SmartGlass for the major phone brands and select titles. Agreed, I don't really use Googles stuff apart from when someone shares it like youtube videos - I guess I have posted a couple of those - I probably use googles stuff once or twice a month actively. With a touchscreen metro should actually be the best solution, 7 is no good for finger based touch screens, you really want a stylus. 7 may also be sluggish on the same hardware.

It works on most of the newer Windows laptops too, its just part of the driver that allows it to handle multitouch. I think there may be some more that could work for you, I think there is two finger tap - or second finger beside the pointing finger - for right click and some have a three finger tap thing as well. Zeroclients are just USB hubs with a GPU, soundcard and possibly some PS2 ports hung off it. They are designed to provide an extra moniter to a computer and need something like MPS to divide up all the additional moniters into 'seporate' sessions on the MPS. If you have the TS servers running MPS instead and have them in the rooms directly connected via USB to the zeroclients this would work but they are not full thinclients that can work individually over the network.

I think this is actually a way to force people onto the subscription model of 365 by removing many of the benefits of local software using the license agreement. Re the OT; this is kind of a benefit of W8, it ties into cloud services nicely... conversely it also pushes you into the cloud like the Office 2013 stuff from above.

As long as you don't care about security at all. There will still be a need for central databases of users, you may choose to do this all with GAPS or 365 but you are completely at the mercy of the external provider and your internet connection. Sure you can run the IT like a large flat but you have to be ready to throw everything away if things break or the vendors tell you to, on the plus side the school can save some cash by fireing trained IT people and using the SLTs kids who knowz teh fACEbOOKs and tWITs.

If you have gig switches I'd be tempted to use PoE injectors and them instead, splitting 100mbit/s out between however many clients is rather slow if you are doing much more than a bit of web surfing. I know that when I was using an Aruba AP and a PoE injector the network side was very crashy until I got it onto a gig switch.
