Has it desoldered itself like the xbox 360 cpu and PS3 GPU BGA packages used to, you may be able to try the same tricks. Also have you tried booting from other media, it could just be that the os has cooked itself and is giving the equivalent of a BSOD blink, if so you are lucky, I wasted almost an hour trying to boot a mac off a USB key that worked once then randomly failed before I figured out the thing was simply bombing without an error because the flash drive was dodgey.

Transparent proxy, I think you can set squid up to bridge transparently to an authenticated proxy. TBH proxies are rather outmoded and only still around because of technological inertia.

The key UI is understandable, it is the volume licence version designed to be activated by a kms server not manually, if done manually they would just expect you to use slmgr.vbs like all the other volume products. The proxy thing is stupid but you probably need to use the netsh proxy import command to bind it to apps etc, again it is designed for transparent proxies or direct connections but at least it can do it if you set it right, this should help with the store and speed too. Not sure about the IE11 issue as it has worked fine on my machines. Um, I'm pretty certain that unless your waps has a stack of radios (xirrus) you are limited to the max single rate. Under g that is 54mbit between all devices as that is the max you can fit in to the radio band available at that modulation. It shared so one device and wap have to share this, you add more devices and it drops like a stone especially with collisions. With n you can get 300mbits which easily overwhelms a poltry 100mbit link so gig is really needed to make it not pointless. This is also why the ac waps have two gig ports that can be teamed as a gig link could be overwhelmed.

Most laptops had two antenna anyway and used them in the same way the early waps did using the one that got the best signal at the time, a newer card should manage both at the same time.

Not really, a lot is down to the devices and environment, there was another thread like this a couple of weeks ago, check the wap graphs for the snr and amount of interference, it could be the environment causing lots of signal bounce due to high power. You could also look at upgrading the client wlan cards as most are just mini PCI-e.

How many laptops, how many waps in range and are the laptops and waps 802.11abgn so that the clients can be split out between waps and frequencies. Wireless is a shared medium and is always going to suck in comparison to cable, you need to do everything you can to spread the load out as otherwise your 300mbits of n coverage is going to be split between say 30 laptops all screaming at once and colliding causing wait states meaning the more you have the less of the maximum you can have to share between them, lets be optimistic and say you end up with 60% efficiency, that is 180/30=6mbit/s max without any overhead for anything else like encryption and frame headers. The answer is more available bandwidth to share and more waps to share between.

Intel do have a problem, AMD have dropped the ball massively and Intel can goof off, they have had slipping schedules on all their new gear and they don't really suffer from it, as they are still the only game in town when it comes to a nice mix of power and efficiency. The best thing Intel could do would be to invest a couple of billion in non voting shares of AMD to jumpstart them and get the game back on track.

If you are using MS Intune you can link it to AD and use the users existing logons. I think the latest SCCM may have this to. Not sure if this still gives you store access though.

I wouldn't want to rely on a first gen Nexus 7, I have one and the best word I can use to describe it is junk, having used many tablets I would suggest anything else. I'm sure someone will be along to defend it shortly but in my experience they are just not good. I do hear the second gen ones are much better though. If you do end up with one make sure you know how to hard reset it for when it hard crashes and won't charge and make sure you keep and use the original charger and cable so that it charges faster than it discharges and does not end up in a hard crash, also never let it go completely flat otherwise you may need the original charger and another hard reset..

Google search seems to work alright for me, I usually use bing anyway but just tried it and seemed to work fine, haven't had 11 crash on me yet with many tabs open but it is still early.

Bloody Intel still can't write a driver to save their worthless little lives, I get a two second wait as the filthy Intel driver crashes then recovers on resume from standby. The mail and calendar apps are better, battery life is worse.

Just installed it from the store on my table, the update should be called Windows Infinity point one as it took hours to download and longer to install on my poor atom tablet. On the plus side IE11 seems to handle vbulitins dodgy js much better in metro mode. Enter even works now. It also puts a WiFi strength meter on the logon screen, have only been messing with it for about 15 min so I'm sure there is more. I wouldn't mind some better feedback from the store app, a percentage of the download that was complete instead of a nondescript progress bar would be quite an upgrade. I am hoping the management has improved a bunch, looking forward to the start screen being customisable with an xml and GPO, hopefully the store apps are a bit more management friendly too.

We use ruckus stuff which is working well, good for places that need good range and stable connections in less than perfect radio environments.
