We are looking into options for a site wide Wi-Fi deployment, to support both sets of school owned devices and ultimately a 'bring your own device' service. We have been looking into 4 vendors, and are getting to a point that in order to progress properly we need to choose one to use. I am looking on behalf of our art/photography department for a printer. They have gone through a large number of printers over the last few years, either they have died from overuse!, or they complain that the colour is not good. Some models they have sent back are the HP 4700n, HP CP 4005 and CP 3525. They print a LOT, (5,000+ sheets per week) but also demand high quality photographs from the machine? Anyone investigated this before and know of any printers which can deliver high quality and high volume, we realise this wont be cheap! Cheers.

Hi all, We use AVS video editor for our media department. The problem I am having is that you log in as admin and install it, register/activate it and it works fine. When you login as a pupil, who have mandatory profiles , and run it - it comes up as unregistered. When you register it as admin it created a file in the users application data folder. Even if i copy this file into the pupils application data folder, it still doesnt remember the activation. Anyone use AVS video editor, or have any ideas on this one? Thanks

It just occured to me this morning that the rack that our servers are in is not earthed. Should it be? Same applies for all of our switch cabinets, they have earth bonding points but are not connected to any earth? Should we connect all our cabinets to soem kind of earth? - Or are we worrying about nothing? Are your cab's and racks earthed? Thanks

Hello everyone, We have been using App-v for the last year, and have just removed it from our network! Once you think you finally have App-v running and stable you get yet another bug! My advice would be to be extreemly careful, as in our experience it is very unstable, and we have had a lot of annoyed users when applications dont run! The concept is good, but in practice if it sounds too good to be true it usually is!

Some of our subjects have started using the new controlled coursework sylabus. This means that studends have a set period of time to complete a peice of coursework on computers. The students are allowed to use the internet, and save their work, but they cannot access the work outside of lesson time. We have a VLE with access to users work area from home. Anyopne ever dealt with a controlled coursework problem before? Any Thoghts? Thanks
