Greifidy, necromancing going on here but it's the same story. We are now using 8.1 in new images and there are a bunch of people still yearning for the good old days of Windows 7, which I am embarrassed to say some schools are only just implementing now, I hate to think what they will do when they hear about the use of electricity instead of coal.

Chrome will bring about the ICT revolution in schools
SYNACK replied to somabc's topic in Blue Skies
+1 I have one to and use it for most stuff, even this. Baytrail should be a great bridge between the core and atom series though, for tablet use it should be great as the current ones cope fine and the new ones are much faster. -
Ah Wellington, nice short runway half way out to sea and you know you have hit a really calm day if the plane is pointing anywhere near the direction of the runway when you land. We do things efficiently here in NZ, that is why Wellington does not need any rollercoaster... they have an airport Oh, and Air NZ pilots are taught to land sideways first, it saves time if they ever have to land in Wellington. If you are after a less exciting time try Auckland or Christchurch (just not on a shaky day).

Got COD going again, just needed to delete it and reinstall it, you can tell they based it on windows server when the only repair option is a new install. I do love the fact that their own forums suggest installing games disconnected from the internet as their software is incapable of behaving anything less than stupidly. I think the MS Access and MS Bob teams found their new homes in the xb1 division and they never bothered trying it on anything less than a 1gb link with a ping time of less than 10ms. Silly financial crisis meaning that MS has no QA team at all, or at best they are volunteers working one day a week. I still can't get Xbox fitness to actually run despite reboots and reinstall.

In my experience, longer, not sure if mine is faulty but I usually leave it on overnight to install a game off a disk. Add to that, that I now can't play Ghosts because it demands a backup and has an 'error' trying to get it. I still think the X1 has great potential and when they get it up to release quality for NZ in six month to a year it will be great. To be fair, when it is all working properly it is great, just seems to be unfinished especially for NZ, we still don't have the youtube app but they have the distastefulness to advertise it all over the front page of the app store, go to the link and no install option or response to @xboxsupport.

This is a good read/cause http://xboxfeedback.com/ agree with all of it, just need to add the annoying Xbox logo on any dlna played videos and the need to have it open to stream to it at all.

Backup Server 2012 now completely useless!
SYNACK replied to Sheridan's topic in Windows Server 2012
Openfiler can do iscsi, just use that and propper ntfs, the issue is that Linux emulates ntfs badly on ext3/4/whatever. Just offer raw storage as iscsi and your backups will work with whatever. Probably faster too. -
We always kill the locally cached profile through the UI to fix this, it is a busted reg that goo can't apply to I think. Delprof2 in a logon script usually takes care of it, just don't apply to laptops with cached profiles.

No, still have the old elite setup in my bedroom but it still sounds like a 747 cargo spec coming in to land.
-
I thought so but poo, there is still no Alan Wake, Bioshock or even halo for the XB1, they seem to have left their prime stallions out of the race so far on both sides of the fence, I guess they don't want to hobble them with an old gen/next gen port situation where the result is rubbish on both sides of the generation gap.

Now the first console that can manage hacked backwards compatibility will have quite an advantage, I still yearn to play my 360 titles on the one.
-
This may be why the games take as long to install too, it may be enforcing sequential block storage to make sure it loads fast. Question is, what happens when you fill it up then delete a few titles and install others, sequential may no longer be an option so performance may degrade.

So they read about datacentres and their use of dc power supplies so it cuts out the inefficiencies of stepping voltage in each and every psu . The solar thing is a nice extra tack on. Like the others I'd be interested in the actual internal spec, what cpu, ram etc it fits in the power envelope.

No new headsets are way better though with lit mute button on controller side and you can use smartglass for chat, no (its micro USB now), yes if you use aa ones, the charge and play is better but not interchangeable.

If it is smartarray you should be fine, I thought the integrated one was a p400i anyway.

Some chipsets just don't manage more than 4gb total, I think it is something to do with them being built when 32bit was popular and only being able to address 4gb max at the system level. As you have 4gb plus some gpu memory the board is forced to steal enough out of the 4gb space to map it. Had the same issue which I never resolved on some nforce based boards, started buying Intel again shortly after having to deal with their awful drivers and system architecture - putting a nic on a PCIe bridge that needed a driver that would not work in winpe, insanity.
-
No, HP raid sets are transportable between smart array controllers, one of the many reasons I like them better than some of the alternatives. Having a current backup is always best practice though.

@TBlax my review is that it is a good machine with a few features missing which they will hopefully address quite soon. Mine runs quiet and fast, managing ghosts really well. My issues with it are which they should be able to fix in updates are lack of voice rec in NZ, no voice messages or even listening to them from 360, not enough feedback about what it is doing hence my issues with ghosts to start out with (took forever to install). Lack of apps for NZ, we don't get YouTube but apparently you guys do. No way to pipe voice chat out to the tv if headset is connected. I had a bunch of people round to have a go on launch day (had grabbed an extra controller) and they all loved the new controllers. Smartglass is also great, better than the old one. I also like the qr code way of activating addins like preorder cards so you can just hold that up to Kinect rather than messing with long codes. The integration between W8, WP and 360 with the one is also not quite done yet, achievements on X1 don't show on the others yet but again this is an update away. Overall I like it and do think that these over sites will be corrected as time goes by.

Even if it was on a disk you could have a long wait, cod ghosts is supposedly 15min but I have just wasted an hour and a half trying to install it because it needs a 1.something gig patch then it gives you no feedback as to what it is doing at all, it just stuck at 1% till - I think - the download finally finished then after five eject and reinserts it finally decided it would get past 1%. Still happy to have it and it is nice and quiet but they need to roll back the UI a bit so it gives you some useful information, they seem to have gone full apple on this one. Looking toward to finally playing a game on it before the day is over.

Finished the update and have been playing, no physical copy of dirty FIFA for me and it was not in the box either so will be kicking the retailer, update took a while then said it had failed after the install stage but as I was reading the fail message it fixed itself anyway.
