Depends on the exchange rate of USD to GBP.

If you're not running the Apache web server, which web server are you running? Plesk is just a control panel.

I agree with your points about web services and the cloud in general. But there are still some apps that will only work realistically on the desktop at the moment. One example for me personally is photo editing. I'm aware of online versions of cut-down Photoshop and Flickr's Picnic; but they don't compare to a local install of Adobe Lightroom (or similar software) working on local files.

It's getting closer with every line I write, but nothing solid yet. You should know not to ask by now John

Oh, is that what he's doing? Fair enough then -
Regarding CRBS problems. I tried to replicate the problems on Xampp (which I hardly ever use) and got stuck at the first hurdle. It seems the version of the framework and code used in Classroombookings is too old for some of the latest versions of PHP (mainly 5.3.0); as a lot of PHP changes break older function calls etc. Until v2 is released, I would recommend using PHP 5.2.9 or less to run Classroombookings on. It's easy to do this on WAMP - once installed, just use the tray menu: PHP > Version > Get more..., then install an older version. I'll also be updating the v2 progress demo site soon; just so you know it is being worked on

The one with the guy at the bowling alley. Isn't he just demonstrating a fancy way of doing 'Tile Windows Vertically'; hardly ground-breaking stuff. -

If "Monday" open "Monday.htm", if "Tuesday" open "Tuesday.html"

This should do - stick it in a blank HTML page. <!--<br /> // ***********************************************<br /> // AUTHOR: WWW.CGISCRIPT.NET, LLC<br /> // URL: http://www.cgiscript.net<br /> // Use the script, just leave this message intact.<br /> // Download your FREE CGI/Perl Scripts today!<br /> // ( http://www.cgiscript.net/scripts.htm )<br /> // ***********************************************<br /> <br /> function initArray() {<br /> this.length = initArray.arguments.length;<br /> for (var i = 0; i < this.length; i++)<br /> this[i+1] = initArray.arguments[i];<br /> }<br /> <br /> var weekDayArray = new;<br /> initArray("Sunday","Monday","Tuesday","Wednesday","Thursday","Friday","Saturday");<br /> var today = new Date();<br /> var day = weekDayArray[today.getDay()+1];<br /> <br /> if (day == "Monday") window.location = "Monday.htm"<br /> if (day == "Tuesday") window.location = "Tuesday.htm"<br /> if (day == "Wednesday") window.location = "Wednesday.htm"<br /> if (day == "Thursday") window.location = "Thursday.htm"<br /> if (day == "Friday") window.location = "Friday.htm"<br /> if (day == "Saturday") window.location = "Saturday.htm"<br /> if (day == "Sunday") window.location = "Sunday.htm"<br /> //--><br /> Source: CGIScript.net :: Automate your website for less! -
Is virtualisation technology enabled in the BIOS?

Yes, if the web server is not configured to run Python scripts, then it will just offer it as a download. The shell_exec() would probably work, yes. But there are different methods for running external processes - it would be worth finding out which one is best for your needs. There's passthru(), exec() and system() available at your disposal. I think maybe the more important thing to get through to them is that the web is not a publisher document - reiterate the point that you can't just throw things all over the place and change the font to 24pt Comic Sans lime green. A website is a professional and structured approach to publishing the school's information in a consistent fashion.

Do you mean to just re-direct the browser to a separate page? Or do something without the user noticing?

I prefer the template on the Serif one over the Joomla version (too much empty space, flash image doesn't load straight away and then pushes the page content down); but functionally it's not that great (embedding PDFs in frames etc).

(I work with bossman so will answer some of the posts about the school things) We have two firewalls - one is on our ISP's equipment and the others is our own, and we just use simple TCP port-forwards. Although there is a DMZ zone between the two boxes, our webserver with Moodle on is still internal on the LAN. Web access is provided externally via an Nginx reverse proxy (also does webmail and access to other web stuff we host). That doesn't surprise me at all Can't blame you for wanting to host yourself. The school map image itself was created in Microsoft Visio. I used an aerial photo as the background layer and then created the walls/structure as lines and rectangles based on that. As for the web/tooltip side of it, it's a CSS technique using positioned hidden layers. Thanks

I never watch it, so I won't be not watching it just because Nick Griffin is on.

Yes. Give them chalk & slate. Very Social Interactive Web 2.0 because students can pass slates around between the group, and invite others to contribute to their drawings using their own coloured chalks.

A friend got duped by SkillsTrain. He found it difficult to cancel and they were very reluctant to refund him. As said, they're just happy to get money.
