@GarnierSkinNaturals: If you didn't have the enthusiasm for IT in the first place why did you get into it? You think IT is a dead end job well what do you think Teaching is? Ruled by the bell and all the red tape plus jumping through hoops to fulfil the job criteria as well as trying to teach teenagers who really don't want to be taught but want to pi** about all the time. I think you just want the holidays and the so called respect, believe me most teachers don't like what they do its a job and if they could do something better which paid as much then they would. I can concur with this, Athens is one of the front end authentication modules which most Universities use for access to personal learning documents and research materials.

@El_Nombre: Why would it become your headache as others have stated it is a management problem and should be dealt with in such a manner, if they come to you asking if there is anything you can do your answer is plain and simple...............NO! and that should be the end of it. ;D

@andydis: Do you have FTP access to your hosted moodle server? If so you can backup your files to a designated folder within the courses module at the bottom and then copy them from that designated folder across to your own in house moodle server and then sort the files out into their respective folders. If you have access to phpmyadmin on the hosted moodle server it may quicker to copy all the files using FTP and export the database using PhpMyAdmin.

@FN-GM: I actually thought you were having a laugh when you mentioned about these phones interfering with the WIFI and that's why I made that remark in keeping up with the jocularity of the post. I have as I stated never come across anything of this nature with BT compliant equipment and have recommended it to many people who have taken my advice over many years. All I can say about the experience your friends have had is that the mobile phones they use are defective and should take them back for replacement or the wireless router they have has been setup wrong. @FN-GM I do hope this explanation answers your question and that you understand that no malice was intended. P.S. I may also start to give people negative rep in future without waiting for an explanation! ;D

@beeswax: As a user of BT wireless phones for the past 8 years (different models) I have never had nor heard of them interfering with the WIFI broadband and can only imagine them being set up wrong in the first place by not implementing a proper DSL filter in the proper place within the BT landline. Damn stupid reply if you ask me to something that really should have no problem if fitted properly. BT run the lines and the exchanges to most peoples landlines and I have heard too many times where non compliant equipment has been fitted (non BT compliant) and the person has had to then go and purchase BT equipment to rectify. I have never had any trouble with BT equipment but have had problems with other non BT compliant equipment in the past.

@garethedmondson: We use dropbox to keep all our network documentation. Set up the individual folders and share them with the departments who can then make changes as they go along which updates for everyone. Departments can update from anywhere with just a web browser or download the app and synchronise with the online dropbox. Enough free space to allow for all documents. Works very well and is encrypted by them and can also be double encrypted by you.

@beeswax: Have a look at these: Search for 4500 - Cordless Phone World As they are BT phones they are guaranteed to work faultlessly and they are much cheaper than the ones you are looking at but with all the features and you can get 4 phones for the price.

The courts have ruled that the banks must pay these protection payments back and this will take time unlike the payment charges which have been frozen by the courts on a technicality. As it stands now unless the banks appeal this latest decision then they will have to pay everyone back so if I was you I would wait for the moment.

@hargz: I too have just started getting this message from a program we had built and tested and then deployed and tested approx 2 weeks ago, below is the error. I am wondering if it is a WSUS update that has killed it? Will investigate further and see what I come up with.

What is the problem with LDAP and AD in Freenas? As you have stated Freenas ticks all the boxes and then you state it fails why? We have used it here for quite some time only for simple storage though would like to know why you cannot use in your environment. Sorry I have no answers to your question but just being inquisitive as we are looking to integrate it with our Sun 7110 as a VM backup service and HA storage.

At the moment we have a strict 200 printer credits a week quota for all staff except Admin staff who are monitored, 2 credits for a mono print and 5 or 10 credits for colour depending on what size A4 = 5 A3 = 10 and we also limit the staff to where they can print from: All ICTSuites only students and ICT staff Subject printers only the subject members We have reprographics were staff can e-mail print jobs to for collection the next day at cost. We also have a colour printer in the staff shared work area were the staff are allowed to print off 1 copy for reproducing 30 copies via the reprographics for hand outs. This was all backed up by SLT and has proved to be saving at least 70% of costs against previous years. Only one member of staff has complained and that member of staff has in no uncertain terms been told by SLT..............tough get used to it.

@monkeyx: We have built a test version as a VM Moodle version 2.0.2 and will be letting a teacher loose over the Easter break to see if he can replicate what we do at the school, we have no Sims integration as we thought version 2 would have this functionality already built in as was mentioned in the priorities on Moodle site. Will let you know if we aim to move to the new version after Easter.

@mattx: Using Kaspersky here over the whole school and its working very well indeed, in fact its probably even better than our old AV which was very good over the 6 years that we used it. You twisty old git hehe! ;D
