@vikpaw: Just built the package recently, have ran it on test machines, will be testing out next week on selected user workstations i.e. Data manager, Office admin and PLO admin who all use office within Sims.net so should have a good cross selection before whole school deployment. What problems are you having?

When you say you have wiped the HDD have you wiped the hidden sector? sometimes laptops have their own OS re-installation partition along with the install program written into the ROM. Have you tried installing windows 7? #MrBombastic hehe!

It would if you had bought the original professional media with the license. You can install any OS you like as long as you have purchased the license for it and the unit will run the OS.

I am still a child at heart....... My kids love the older versions better than the new edited stuff...... I sure am!, more than ever and if you new how the special effects where created in those day's then you would realise how passionate I am about the older versions

Too true if I may say so and built on experience of having been involved with lots of so called consultants in various different professions who as the joke implied didn't know their ar** form their elbow This about covers a large percentage of consultants throughout the country and from all walks of professions, a little like teachers who class themselves as the greatest thing since sliced bread and yet fail to even stimulate the very students they are supposed to be educating. No it was the attendance officer who thought it was running slow but in actual fact she was trying to edit marks whole school so imagine the amount of data which has to be written backwards and forwards to both SQL and the memory on the client. Its better to use the editing feature in groups, registration groups and individuals which works very fast indeed (matter of 3 - 5 seconds) against pulling up the whole school data (just over a minute) Thanks for the thoughts though Vic, things going well your end?

@matt40k: I forgot to ask that all our workstations are 4Gb Ram with dual core intel processors.

@edsa: You hit the nail on the head, I would definitely do the upgrade. Also look at cleaning up the database using the tools from within Sims as this can have an impact on use. Once upgraded to Full SQL you can run the diagnostic tools to streamline your databases also. Good luck

@Hightower: What version of Boardworks are you using? We are using the most recent version of flash with Boardworks and Office 2003 on CC4 Windows 7 Pro with no problems. What client platform are you using?

@Hulbert99: It could be one of a couple of things: 1. Bulb may be broken 2. Heat sensor on circuit board may be broken. 3. Bulb compartment micro-switch may be broken. 4.Someone may have inadvertently changed the channel on the remote (To reset channel, press menu and image buttons on remote together for 10 secs whilst pointing at projector) Hope this helps

@DAZZD88: We have been using laptops with wireless over in our PE sports hall to take the lesson registers for the past 5 years using both Sims.net client app and also through TS RDP internally. Just works. APs are Cisco 1430's and there are 4 to cover the whole of the sports hall they just work never had to touch them since setting them up.

@tommej: My first boss came from Spalding a man called Keith Preston who I would like to contact again but have no address or even if he is still alive, he was not only my boss but a great friend, after I left the textile industry to pastures new we kept in touch but then he moved again and we lost touch over 30 years ago. He used to tell me of the great flower carnivals in Spalding to which they are quite famous, never been of course.

Hi All, After the summer upgrade our Attendance officer has informed me that when she has to edit a mark for whatever reason when she clicks on the save it takes ages (as she puts it) well a couple of minutes to actually finish. I do understand that she has it open as the whole school and that it must write all the data back to SQL but surely it shouldn't take that long! Anyone have a similar issue and how did they solve it or is it a known issue? Her computer is Windows 7 pro dual core 4Gb Ram and has been great she tells me until this last Sims update. I will be looking into the full process between the client and SQL but thought I would just ask the question. Thanks in advance
