  1. The Killing is Danish. Based in Copehagen. If you remember, Sarah Lund had a new job in Stockholm but kept putting it off because of the investigation. The characters were excellent, as were the twists and turns. I'd suspected Vagn from early on but there were so many red-herrings I was never sure. Apparently, there's a new series in the Autumn. How about the Shadow Line? Only one episode to go and I'm still non the wiser!
  2. A Toshiba L450 laptop that seldom comes into school picked up a virus and the user cleared it using sophos. I've run malwarebytes which says it is clean but there are still numerous problems, no desktop or program shortcut. All files were hidden. I'm assuming it's a registry issue but as I don't know what the virus was, I don't know where to start. System Restore is unable to start.
  3. Whilst you're at it. If you get some brasso and polish all the ports until they are really shiny, that will give you another 3-5HP
  4. If it has manual gears, try bump starting it.
  5. Did the plug look wet around the contacts? Could have been a flooded engine.
  6. A biker stopped by the local Harley Shop to have his bike repaired. They couldn't do the work while he waited, and so, since he didn't live far from the shop, he decided to walk home. On the way home he stopped at the hardware store and bought a bucket and an anvil. He stopped at the feed store / livestock dealer and picked up a couple of chickens and a goose. However, he had a problem. How to carry his entire purchases home? The feed store owner said, "Why don't you put the anvil in the bucket, carry the bucket in one hand, put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand?" "Hey, thanks!" said the biker, and out the door he went. In the parking lot he was approached by a little old lady who told him she was lost, and asked if he could tell her the way to 1603 Mockingbird Lane . The biker said, as a matter of fact, I live at 1616 Mockingbird Lane ." We can take a short cut down this alley and be there in no time". The little old lady looked him over cautiously, and then said, "I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me. How do I know that when we get in the alley you won't hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and ravish me?" The biker said, "Holy smokes lady! I'm carrying a bucket, an anvil, two chickens, and a goose. How in Hell could I possibly hold you up against a wall and do that?" The lady said, "Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the anvil on top of the bucket, and I'll hold the chickens."
  7. Johnny Jones in Year 6 works for me. There's no way anyone is going to ignore him
  8. Don't you think this thread should be BTRD? It's a very emotive subject.
  9. Croydon boy Laurence Rook invents phone-linked doorbell | Parent Pages new website
  10. Not a lot of people know that there's half a dozen nuns on the Abbey Road album cover.
  11. But the thought is as bad as the deed. I bet it was mattx, using his smartphone, whilst overtaking the wrongside of keep left sign on a zebra crossing full of blind nuns.

    Rep?

I think we need to call out the RNLI
  13. Shame you didn't video it, would have made a good thread
  14. Even after a MOD has asked us not to? That's dissent and worthy of a -rep Edit. I just got a -rep for oppression of freedom of speech. I wonder who that might be from
  15. This may already have been mentioned but I just saw that the school won the £200. Well done Little Miss, spend it wisely.
  16. I was walking home yesterday afternoon and a Fast Response Paramedic hit his siren just as he was alongside me. Apart from making me jump, the noise hurt my right ear and it still doesn't feel right. I emailed West Mids Ambulance Service suggesting it was a Health and Safety issue. I don't think the noise at an F1 event can be good for the hearing.
  17. A few years back RM sent out a mod kit to prevent exploding CDs being fired out of the drive at great speed.
  18. You went to Monaco?
  19. I can't find the receipt. They aren't cheap but much quicker to fit than tiles and easier to maintain.
  20. We put up mermaid panels Mermaid - The ultimate waterproof wall panel system around the showers and found a cheaper version that was a close match, that we put around the walls, straight on top of the tiles. It wasn't the cheapest solution but they are a doddle to keep clean and there was little preparation or mess.
  21. OMG, that took me longer than it should have done. Dementia is setting it.

  23. That's the problem. Racers have some incredible protection and can come off at 100mph or more, slide into the gravel and be unhurt. But they aren't then taken out by a juggernaut. There's just too much unfair competition on UK roads for my liking.
  24. Whilst I admire your riding ability Matt, the only thing I would say is that during the last MotoGP race in France, Pedrosa and Simoncelli collided. It was probably Simoncelli's fault but Pedrosa got the broken collar bone. If the accident had been between Pedrosa on his Honda and Hamilton in his McLaren, then Pedrosa probably wouldn't have walked away from it. It's the same on the North Circular GP. It might be the other guy's fault but the biker usually loses.
