Our site manager went on a course and now does. One hell of a job in addition to his other work but at least I get asked before anything is switched off.

Why are 80s cars less loved than those from other eras?
laserblazer replied to Dos_Box's topic in General Chat
Most of them had built-in obsolescence in the form of rust! -
Powerpoint 2010 and beyond.

At Pembroke Castle, my grandson got to drag the rabbit across the field. He was given a head start then the falcon was released. I think they must know exactly when to release in order for the runner to nearly make it.

Eurovision did produce this, which is pretty cool.

That's a coincidence, that's the same year as our current curriculum server went in.

I doubt it would be legal tender. -
You could have got away with 100%. The advanced settings snap in was showing an error. Stopping and restarting the service seems to have done the trick. Thanks.

When it works it does. I can see nothing in the firewall, it's exactly the same as the other workstations.

OK, he is no doubt one of the most successful managers ever. With people of his calibre managing all of the Olympic sports disciplines, we would get even more medals. However, at then end of the day he is simply a football manager and didn't merit all of the news coverage he received. There are far more important issues in the world.

We upgraded to Server 2012 and Windows 7 over Easter. All of the admin workstations were set up the same and are fine except for the Office Manager's. It has a colour printer connected and shared with two other workstations in the office. I get called down because they can't print. I can't ping the offending workstation but it can ping out. Taking it out of the domain and putting it back doesn't help but changing the computer's name does. It's now on its third name. I'm presuming a dns issue but I can't think what.

I that were the case, then there would be a lot of schools in the wrong. We use intake year, surname, first initial of firstname 10BloggsF

School's off (what school open on a Bank Holiday?). I was going in but the weather is too nice. Saying that, it's starting to cloud over!

[ms office - 2013] 2013 - when will you be making the switch?
laserblazer replied to mrbios's topic in Office Software
Our office staff had a few issues with SIMS reports into Excel because of enabling macros. As I could see it, the only option was to allow all macros. There was no option to prompt first. If I've got that wrong can someone let me know please. -
Using cat5 tester for speaker cables

Did you have a ground to the tester. I'd agree Robk's way sounds easiest -
It should be in Program Files - Microsoft Office - Office14 (I think for 2010 it's Office15 in 2013)

Another vote for navfree. I've used the South Africa and Portugal maps and got there. It has some odd ideas about the best route but that's for areas where I know better. If you haven't a clue, you're non the wiser. Good tip about downloading the google map.

Office 2013 coming up with invalid licence
laserblazer replied to laserblazer's topic in Windows Server 2012
Pretty certain it's KMS. I just googled the event log message and found this There's a chance that only 4 users have accessed Office 2013 since it was deployed, I'm home now but I've asked the Office manager to open up the spare machine. She's just called me to say the machine she has just opened came up with the invalid licence. I'll check out the KMS server. Update: Just been in and rearmed the affected computers, so we have another 30 days grace. When I ran ospp.vbs /dstatus each machine gave a different key (it only shows the last 4 characters) so it would seem our VLK hasn't been applied. -
Our new server 2013 was set up by the LEA guys and MSOffice is deployed through MDT. The office staff have OFFICE 2013 and users are starting to see an invalid licence message and they have 2 days left. I've not been given the VLK for OFFICE 2013, I'm still waiting for it. Friday is nearly over, holiday on Monday and I have a real fear that on Tuesday there will be no MS Office in the office. In the event log I'm seeing "The rules engine reported a failed VL activation attempt" every two hours. Any thoughts please?

That made me chuckle, separates is a term used for underwear.

Recommend a visualiser for a primary school?
laserblazer replied to kaphc's topic in AV and Multimedia Related
We have a very expensive one £800 - hardly ever used. Some £400 ones - seldom used and then we half a dozen of these Easi-View Visualiser for Schools and they are used regularly. Basically a webcam on a bendy stand but the Easi-View software is quite good.
