My wife is driving her second Nissan Note. It's a nice car with a very high spec. and it is around the largest that will comfortably fit in the garage. The plan is to replace it early next year but I've just been looking at the new models and they don't have a spare wheel, just a can of fixit foam. Seems that the Micra is the only Nissan that still has a spare. What's the team's views on not having a spare?

F1 drivers use them and look at the speeds they do

Don't forget that aircon needs to be regularly maintained (to prevent legionnaires disease I believe) and this will be an additional, ongoing expense.

That might be good for some of the sponsors of this site?

I thought the opening ceremony was a bit lame but as for the Games themselves "Glasgow - you were Pure, Dead Brilliant." whatever that means.

Yup. The sun just came out, so I put the washing out and just got in before the skies opened. Still, it will get a good rinse

My son has just started work in Egham and rents a bedroom with shared kitchen and exclusive use of the bathroom for £100 a month.

We are heading to Northumbria next week and I thought we could stop off at the Waitrose store on the M6 at Keele but the free coffee deal doesn't apply. Ah well!

When my Great Aunt was at school before WW1, she was naturally left handed but at school was made to write with her right hand.

[news] It's not just the law that's an ass!

Also, a pupil has two weeks off at the start of a module, so comes in half way. How are they going to catch up? Most parents who take their kids out for extended holidays (visiting relatives abroad etc) do it at the end of term, so the kids just miss playing games and watching films. -
I used to follow the Ultra 30 racing which was fun. I got to sail in one at Queen Mary reservoir a few years ago.

Every year, I mark the approach of Spring/Summer with sporting events. The start of the F1 season, Grand National, Boat Race, London Marathon, Wimbledon and finally, the Tour de France. And now the event that signals the end is fast coming up - the football season starts again. I don't really like football, especially the hype that surrounds it. So this is a sad time for me. The good news, as I'm no longer tied to school holidays I can go to Portugal and follow the Volta ao Algarve next February.

I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

It's not as if it's a huge school, seems like it's another case of SLT with heads to far up their own whatnots. Our kids get a certificate for 100% attendance but jollies are dependent on behaviour. The school can think itself lucky that it's holiday time. -
Some school management lack common sense. BBC News - Girl refused school trip for attending mother's funeral

I'm not going to bother doing the sums but savings of £500 per projector over 2 years sounds a bit far-fetched to me?

True. They do struggle a bit in the O2 arena but the big advantage with PC speakers in classrooms is you don't get called out to turn the source selector knob. We have some of the ones from CPC and they have been going for years. Great value.

Is he just putting into words what we all think?

We have the same but the fallout is very high for modern electrical equipment at around 20% over 5 years. I've have been pushing for a standardised classroom system but the money's not available, so classes where the amp has failed are using any old domestic type amplified speakers I've been able to lay my hands on. And, there are no complaints. They are loud enough and easy to use.

What do you do when you need help in a classroom?

It's called the kids
