When you want to rent a flat through an agency, do you normally have to provide all your financial information before the landlord accepts an offer in principle? It seems odd to me that I'm handing over a load of personal information before the landlord has confirmed they're interested in my offer. It's ages since I rented a property, but it's not how I remember it. With buying I had to provide financial information to the mortgage company, but I just told the estate agent I had a mortgage offer in principle and how much I was offering and the agent and seller took me at my word that I would pay. I'd expect some kind of credit check - just feels early in the process.

We have leaf cutter bees! I noticed a bee carrying a leaf a couple of days ago and thought it was just a random one that didn't know how to be a bee! They've decided to colonise my patio table - they keep arriving with bits of leaf and taking them into the screw holes underneath the table. Since they're solitary bees and a limited number of holes, I have a suspicion that they're sabotaging each other as there are pikes of leaf cuttings in the ground under the table. I listened as well and I agree - it was much more positive than I expected. For context, I'm a long time listener and the presentation style is supposed to be slightly light hearted (which I can see might grate), but they're rigorous on their statistics. For months last year they spent every week explaining why the government's figures were untrue* (especially on numbers of tests and how long it was taking to trace contacts) as well looking for realistic measures of numbers of deaths to allow a meaningful comparison between different countries and to give an indication of the true impact of the pandemic. I haven't come away from the programme completely convinced that everything's rosy and the pandemic is over (and that's not what they said), but I'll definitely take their commentary seriously. A stat that caught my attention from the programme was that for every child with a positive covid test in school, on average 20 other children have isolated and over 99% of them did not contract covid. I haven't come to a conclusion about how I think that should be responded to, but it's definitely food for thought. *Not a political opinion; the programmes are still available to listen to and catalogue how what was being briefed didn't match ONS figures.

Going through my regime of open all the windows and doors at 6.30, monitoring outside and inside temperature then closing all windows and curtains once the outside temperature matches inside temperature. Careful management got bedroom temperature down to 21° from 25°. OH had a shower in ensuite and left door open; Now it's 27°and 100% humidity. Brilliant.

Have you got a spare router you could use/loan them? It won't work with the BT disks, but you could put one of the Unifi points in the study to cover that. I don't think there's a massive issue with broadband I've got from BT (if I change, it will be down to price) but I'm not convinced by their WiFi products. That's what I'm planning to get rid of. Before I was using the BT disks I was using a Drayek router which was much more stable.

I have BT whole house (BT home hub and 3 disks). I find that my speed tests are consistent (about 70Mbps), but performance is inconsistent. Obviously because the speed tests are always fine, BT aren't interested. Mine seems to struggle most when you have multiple clients connected to a single AP. Three people can stream HD video as long as they're connected to different APs, but if you have 2 people on their phone watching YouTube, I often find that iPlayer or Netflix freezes on the TV. The disks (APs) have colour coded LEDs - ideally they should be blue. Mine are mostly orange and occasionally blue. My suspicion is that the mesh wifi setup is flawed. My contract is up in August and I'm currently running cat 6 through the house and planning to put my own APs back in.

Just to close the loop, I ordered a Display Port to VGA cable and it's rock solid. I'd never have got to that without your advice.

Well this is embarrassing... I've dug out an HP power supply which says it has exactly the same voltage, current and power output and the docking station now works [emoji15]... Apart from the HDMI connection. The monitor picks it up and then says input signal not found. [emoji17] The USB ports all work. I was having a similar intermittent problem with the mini display port adaptor I was using before. I thought either the port on the laptop was flakey (it's old) or the adaptor was dodgy, which is why I bought the docking station in the first place. I've tried a range of cables and laptops which all work correctly with the monitor. I've also tried the laptop and docking station with an LG monitor and connecting the HDMI cable immediately sends it to sleep, so it seems to be the laptop. Obviously I'm not going to get any support from Dell for such an old laptop. Any thoughts?

I have a Latitude 7350 2-in-1. I've just bought a K10A docking station from eBay (business seller I've bought quite a few things from before for school) which is specified as compatible. The laptop doesn't detect the docking station at all - no connection sound and no charging symbol in the tool tray. The seller was very apologetic and sent a replacement by next day delivery, but I'm getting exactly the same result. Two DoAs seems very unlucky. The power supply speed matches the requirements down on the docking station. Any ideas?

Bad luck - surely that should be in the annoying thread. My annoying thing: that's six days. Isolation is 10 days after contact with a confirmed case. That means it's taken them 4 days from when the person you were in contact with had a positive test. Presumably (probably a mistake to presume anything, but anyway) once the test result is entered in the system, the association between that result and all of the contacts is effectively instantaneous so it's taking four days to get tests processed. In the mean time all of their contacts are walking around being potentially infectious. At that rate I suspect test and trace is still probably not having much effect reducing transmission. Anyway, I really hope it's a false alarm [emoji1696]

If the purchase order started your requirements I would have thought you have a quite straightforward claim against the supplier. I'd also expect your finance team to deal with it.

I can't remember whether I read it or heard on More or Less that with the virulence of the Delta variant, you'd require over 85%. The point they were making wasn't the exact number, it was that you can't reach it even if you vaccinate 100% of adults. So, anyone fancy a discussion on the ethics of vaccinating children when clinical trials are incomplete vs allowing them to become infected with a disease we don't think is likely to cause then serious harm. And once you've decided that, where do then come in the priority list compared to countries with low vaccination rates due to lack of supply?

He could open the source and destination folders in SharePoint and then do the move in SharePoint. Don't drag and drop folders though - I had the contents of a folder disappear doing that and it was difficult to recover.
