We're having issues with users not receiving notifications when someone requests access to a file on SharePoint/OneDrive. This became particularly obvious when people needed access to the recording of a Teams meeting that by default goes into the OneDrive of the person who starts the recording (which by default is the first person who joins, but that can be overridden). A person without permission requiring access gets an error message when they click on the file and a button to request permission which should send a message to the person who owns the file, but we're not receiving those. Is anyone else having that issue? We're also finding that invitees don't consistently get access to the recording? Is it only attendees who get it automatically? Thanks

Pretty difficult for Capita's customers to report data breaches while Capita doesn't publish details. Are schools supposed to monitor "the dark web" for information that might have come from their pupils or staff records?

We're already using O365 widely and want to now want to move some data for some departments to SharePoint. Dinner is fine servers that weren't originally in scope and some is on Dropbox which we no longer need to pay for as we have SharePoint now. Other than the SharePoint migration tool, what have you found to be the best (reliability/completeness is the key measure) to bulk move data? So far I have tried 1) Open SharePoint document library and use the Upload function 2) Open both locations in File Explorer and use copy and paste 3) RClone In all three methods I am finding that it misses a significant number of files unless I break it down into small chunks (up to 5GB seems ok, 20GB upwards seems to have issues). I also have limited admin rights on the tenancy. I have also used Winmerge to try and compare source and destination contents, but that seems to have errors too - it lists files in the destination that aren't in the source and sometimes does files as missing when they aren't. It was a snapshot, but it was supposed to give a rating compared to other properties in your street/council ward/district. The theory being that the most affluent in an area should pay the most towards local services. Whether it's a suitable or fair method or if there's a better alternative is definitely a political topic, so I'll steer clear of that.

I'm experimenting with using winget as part of my deployment process - partly so that I can use winget as part of my updating process and so that I can create a "store" of software for users to install themselves. I've started with Foxit and there was an interactive stage; it asked me for permission to send a location code before download and installation started. Is there a way to avoid all prompts being sent to users? Can it be set for all winget installations or does it need a switch setting for each application? Thanks in advance

My experience is several years old and I was considering manually created Google accounts to provisioned by Azure AD Connect, but I did have issues. I would hope they've been sorted by now, but at the time I was speaking to both Google and MS support and didn't get a resolution. I found that once I linked them, the single sign on worked, but existing users couldn't access their files. I overcame that by excluding that subset of users from migration.

I wouldn't have any qualms about (you or me) being able to do the job. But I would check the Part P regulations on what you're permitted to do with electricity in the bathroom. Insurance companies can be fussy about that.

Will you be getting the management licences for the Flex OS devices as part of the trial? They're well worth having.

I got a bit stuck on this about 6 months ago and posted on here. As will be a surprise to no one, I got an accurate answer within a couple of hours [emoji4] You have to get exactly the right version of MDT and WDS and there is an update that you need to install before it will work - if you do it in the wrong order, it barfs. I'll dig out the thread later and update this post. I'm using it almost every day to deploy either Windows 10 or 11 depending on which task sequence I select. Both use the same boot file.

We are seeing something similar where users have local data, use the sync function in either OneDrive or SharePoint and it claims to have completed sync and all the folders are there but lots of files aren't.

Whereas in our local hospitals, it's still face masks in all patients facing areas (wards and clinics etc). Tile in the hospital is test from 5 days and return after two negative tests or 10 days, whichever is first. My employer applied the same times. There are no government mandatory roles any more - it's down to the employer and individual. Also have family member who had a risk incident raised against them for wearing a ppf3 mask (as in the did wear a mask) while taking part in an aerosol generating procedure before they had the training on how to wear said mask. The doctor who asked them to assist assumed they would have had the training as they were working in a bay of the ward where all the patients had COVID, but despite working there for 6 months on the three occasions where training was booked it was cancelled on the day.

I tried a 34" ultra wide and it felt really small. Check the screen area before you commit. Work have now supplied 32" monitors - one for home and one for office. One is curved which I thought was a gimmick, but I definitely find it more comfortable. Personally I'd prefer 2 x smaller monitors, but if you don't like that, an extra wide would probably work well, but because of the way the screens are measured, you might need bigger than you expect.

Probably about time I butted out, but that quite often doesn't stop me.... I'd have an OU for each year group and an OU for leavers from each year group. You can then move individual leavers into the group relatively easily, move everyone who leaves at the end of year 11 six months after they leave without affecting those starting sixth form and then the remaining ones six months after A level results. I'd have coursework in folders by subject and year group and I'd keep those until six months after the results were issued. I'd justify keeping them beyond when someone left mid-course on the basis it would be in their interest as they'd be highly likely to continue the same course elsewhere and the new school might want the input of a previous teacher.

In this post you addressed all of @TechMonkey's suggestions apart from the one I was going to mention. "Lens" by Microsoft is available for Android, iOS and Windows and does a very effective job of converting a written note into a file saved in OneDrive. The ocr is quite good too.

I would assume from the beginning of the assessed course until after the end of the period available to appeal, i.e. you're both right. It could be over two years as the course lasts that long, but once results are out and the student has not launched an appeal that data can go.

I've always recommended a small form factor or micro mounted to the back of a monitor of my choice, but that's cheaper than what I'm paying for the Optiplex, so I guess you could argue the screen is free!

Their enterprise level kit is pretty solid IME - although I suspect that's true of most of the tier one manufacturers We're a mostly Dell shop, so there are the advantages that brings familiarity and if there are issues, you tend to only have to solve them once. The key differentiator for me is their support. They always send someone to site quickly and they almost always fix it on the first visit.

Current place is mostly Konica Minolta and they seem ok. A lot of them are out of support and they mostly work. In my view they're way over-specified which probably explains why they work better than my experience in schools At my last place we had Ricoh and my experience was good. Main thing is to look at the purchasing Frameworks. The prices were very competitive and no need to go out to tender.

Hi I'm exploring Power Automate for the first time as I want to help an admin group set up some workflows and the tool seems ideal. However I can't find a way of making the flows owned by a team - they all end up owned by the creator (me!) even if the Form is created in the SharePoint library for the Team and where the mailboxes it's sending to are shared mailboxes. Have I missed something? Service accounts aren't really suitable - too many people would need access. Thanks in advance
