  1. So in this scenario can the app still be run as the older version or do you need to now buy the VPP license? I find this scenario very interesting as any vendor can suddenly decide to change for their product. If you rely on the app for a certain part of the curriculum what choice do you have but to pay up.
  2. As it turns out what I thought was a fresh Windows 7 x86 DVD was actually a copy of an RM Win7 recovery DVD. I have downloaded a fresh Win 7 x86 iso from Microsoft and everything is now going as I would expect.
  3. Still no joy unfortunately, I will give the reseller a call in a minute. Failing that an interesting conversation with HP no doubt. Thanks for the help and tips if I get it working I will put the instructions up for future reference.
  4. Thanks for the reply @Michael. There was a BIOS update available but from what I could see all it changed was adding Japanese keyboard support! Its not that it wont USB or PXE boot its just that it will only UEFI boot and I have no way of making legacy take priority. Even if I image the drive away from the machine; if I can't make legacy boot take priority would it not still fail to boot Windows 7 from HDD?
  5. So the time has finally come where I have laptops that I need to remove Windows 8 from. Specifically HP 250 laptops, I spent the whole of yesterday afternoon reading guide after guide and looking at various youtube clips but I just can't get it done. Even when restarting from Windows to change UEFI firmware settings I still only have to option to enter what appears to be the standard BIOS. From here I have: Cleared all secure boot keys. Disabled Secure Boot. Enabled Legacy Support. Under this there are then two boot orders UEFI and Legacy, no matter what I try I can't disable the UEFI boot from taking priority. Even selecting the boot device list on startup only presents the UEFI list, this obviously reads my Windows 7 media but refuses to install (as I would expect booting from UEFI). I'm just about to see if there are any BIOS updates from HP but if not I am truly stuck (or missing something obvious!). Any ideas?
  6. Annoyingly this is the method we used in the end, alternatively you can give access via the control panel but not through the system tray.
  7. Good to hear it is not just us then, but on the other hand this is now something else that has gone wrong on the upgrade front from them.
  8. So since the new SPAM filter upgrade has anyone noticed a significant lag in the time external emails are taking to come through? I am on O365 but we have a local server for Spiceworks. A member of staff sent me an email at 9:50 this morning and cc'ed the helpdesk; Spiceworks did not receive the message until 13:00. This has only been happening since the half term upgrade and nothing has been changed at our end.
  9. I have only had previous experience with Meru and it is not something I am willing to go through again. I am currently reviewing our options and I am leaning towards Areohive, I have had an in depth demo of how it works and I do feel that it is pound for pound the best system for my needs. The ability to have separate keys for individuals with concurrency limits and have said key define what VLAN the device goes on also appeals for internet filtering based on VLAN. Plus with Areohive what you pay is what you pay; you get all of the features no additional buy in for guest access or the like. I have had a quote for Ruckus that does look appealing but the company concerned just did the quote based on site maps, as a result I know that the number of APs is too low for our site. Representatives of the company were supposed to come to my site for a meeting to further understand our requirements but they failed to show. I then got an email 45 minutes after the meeting should have started to tell me they weren't coming. Needless to say I did not respond but they have not followed it up at all. My issue is now that I would like another company to quote for Ruckus but because this other company quoted first Ruckus gave them preferential pricing. Not impressed at all!
  10. Or a codec pack?
  11. Definitely check the killswitch. Also most modern bikes will not start without the clutch being fully pulled in. Make sure the bike is in neutral. Make sure that if the bike is fitted with an immobiliser that this is not also stopping the ignition.
  12. It may be worth checking the battery is charged particularly if the bike has not been run all winter. A good sign of this is when you turn the ignition on and you press for the starter the headlight severely dims or goes off completely. You can get trickle chargers that will top up the batter over several hours or you can invest in something like this: Halfords | Halfords Fully Automatic Battery Charger Provided your battery is 12V (it will be marked on the battery somewhere near the connectors), if you look at other chargers do make sure they are suitable for 12V bike batteries.
  13. If starting from scratch O365 is the winner for me. I would only ever use on site exchange in a hybrid environment now.
  14. You certainly have done well on the price! Re the bike, is there a kick starter you can try rather than the electric one? Just rule out any electrical issues.
  15. Its free; so I just typed FOC into the PO section. Even if we get billed for £0.00 Finance won't mind.
  16. Just registered, it would make sense for any of us attending to meet up.
  17. I am very articulate when it comes to four letter words.
  18. Me too; but I fear I may just end up ranting at people all day if I do.
  19. All of our staff have their title at the start of the display name (Mr, Mrs, Miss or Ms) all of the students have their usernames as the display name (). Net result is that we end up with a list sorted by year group and all the staff are at the end.
  20. First of all apologies for my ignorance. I am looking to add a member server to my domain. As my DCs are Server 2008R2 Standard I'm guessing that it would be best if the member server was the same (although as I understand it, it is not essential). I am using VMware on ESXi 5.1.0 hosts and I have an OVS-ES agreement that (I believe) covers me for my CALs (please correct me if I am wrong here). If all of the above is correct then all I would need to do is get the media and licence from a supplier and setup the VM ensuring the server goes into the Servers - No inheritance OU in AD? In this instance would I be able to just buy OEM?
  21. The two option you need to remove are as @TronXP says the "allow users to transfer funds to other users" and prevent the student accounts from going below £0. I don't recall the setting name but this should resolve the issue.
  22. Never impressed with iris as a solution, the camera is bulky and heavy to move and the software isn't brilliant. With iris you can save the files to a server share, it doesn't just have to be online. Personally I would avoid, knowing what I know now.
  23. Nokia 3210, a phone that only needed charging once a week! How I miss those days.
  24. I see there is a J & S in Watford: Watford Motorcycle Clothing & Accessories Store They usually have a good range of products.
  25. Mrs foofighterjim is a primary school teacher and they have not had one ounce of training on this yet. They don't even know what language / environment they will be teaching in! If it is something like Python it will take some training and at that point I would also object to them using the term coding.
