  1. I have never seen the point in Apple TVs when you can just buy reflector at a fraction of the price.
  2. So almost 48 hours after my first email with several questions that will help decide if I am going to renew for 6 or 12 months, I have still heard nothing back. I have called this afternoon and given my questions to a 3rd person. As they do read what we put up here: This is why people despair! I know my questions may not be as simple as yes or no but a simple acknowledgement that they are being looked into would be nice!
  3. Its a possibility, I used to do this when I worked in Walsall. Part of the problem is that not all Birmingham schools are represented here but may like the opportunity at an event such as this. Ultimately Link2ICT are taking ownership of organising the event and it can be organised in a central neutral venue. I remember one of the big headaches of the Walsall meetings were needing to travel to relatively inaccessible locations. Can anyone honestly say they would be able to host a large event at their site without causing mass disruption? I would be able to manage about 5 people here.
  4. If you have an OVS agreement you will already be licensed for staff use on a personal device. It is just a matter of being able to supply the means and the key without it being abused.
  5. I think it is probably because they have zero management or control over O365, if a school calls with an issue what are they to do? Sorry we cant help you because we made you have O365, that just wouldn't work. However if a school makes the conscious decision to move and has the technical knowledge to do so they will also know that in terms of O365 they are on their own (except for the wonderfully helpful people here on Edugeek anyway).
  6. Just to confirm you can extend the internet contract for just six months and they are willing to provide costs if asked. I have also asked for a copy of the internet checklist that was mentioned during the conference. It would be fantastic to see more technical dialogue at the NM meetings and also some insight into the development roadmap. I think one of the biggest issues has been a lack of communication about projects and exactly why they were being performed.
  7. Yes, but I'm looking at renewing our internet for just six months.
  8. Lets not overlook that loads of the apps only exist because of a lack of HTML5 uptake, formatting issues or because the websites themselves weren't touch friendly. This is slowly changing so apps as we know them will change too.
  9. This has been the case with the older versions of the iPhone and original iPad. Its not that the device wont work its just that app developers will always try to utilise new features or push performance which may mean dropping support for older iOS versions / hardware. You may find that certain apps will continue to work on an older version but you may not be able to utilise new features, it is all dependant on developers and their will / ability to support older devices.
  10. I don't think this would have been the case if the conference was around Christmas time, I think we would have all been at them! Unfortunately for me the proposed timing of the meeting isn't great as I will need to have already made my decision on if we are keeping our internet with them by then. I am however meeting my account manager in the next few weeks so I will see how it goes. Out of interest was it predominately the firewall comments that they were unhappy with or was it more than that?
  11. They do have another problem here. With the firewall issues I managed to get the staff here to understand that it was not our fault (eventually). As a result now my SLT are extremely sensitive to any downtime of the internet connection and they (and me) want to look at our options. Did anyone ever find out any information about the knowledge base article Link (allegedly) have to compare their service against others? I don't think I can undercut the price by much anymore but the added flexibility alone is enough to still make me want to have a good look at this. - - - Updated - - - They do have another problem here. 12. As I said to my account manager; in terms of the QoS up until the Firewall issue I was fine and the reduction of connectivity costs (for us) has been welcome. However the lack of control over filtering both in terms of URLs and content is still a big issue for me. As @Michael points out these features may well be on their way but I am growing impatient of throttling back my own development strategy waiting for a 3rd party. - - - Updated - - - As I said to my account manager; in terms of the QoS up until the Firewall issue I was fine and the reduction of connectivity costs (for us) has been welcome. 13. Try hiding the try icon for staff. Go to Monitoring Setup> Edit (on the group staff are in)> Options> Client Mode. For "How should PCE operate for members of this group?" Make sure it is active but show tool tray icon and show user messages should be un-ticked.
  14. I have to say @Brimstone , I have seen you comment on a number of iPad related threads and have not really understood where you were coming from. Looking at this now it is pretty clear to me you know you apples. Its the age old adage, filing to plan is planning to fail. Having someone put this sort of issue into such simple terms really helps.
  15. My solution would be to sync to their mobile devices with the Exchange account type. They get notifications, only recent messages are stored on the device & if the device is lost or stolen a remote wipe can be performed. Not ideal and it certainly does not cover all the issues but it would get around the "accessibility" issue whilst still retaining at least a basic level of security.
  16. It was funny how quickly he got out of the ICC after cutting the conversation rather short.
  17. Their on to us, take the cyanide!
  18. Surely that was all covered by we have made some mistakes.
  19. So if I'm not happy they aren't happy. Why is he smiling?
  20. But Microsoft aren't mining school data like Google.
  21. If I wasn't representing my school I woulh have heckled. Still lunch was brilliant, can't beat mcdonalds!
  22. Apparently owning an iPad makes you a better person. No end to the things you learn at this conference.
  23. That's the badger, thank you both!
