Have been on it for over a year now, when I first had it I was getting 30Mbps up and 13Mbps down. It isn't quite as fast now in part due to other people taking it up and slowing down the exchange but I am still getting 18Mbps up and 9Mbps down. Much better than the 0.5Mbps I was getting through ADSL. It is a BT infinity connection you even get a BT engineer installing it, Sky just take less money for the same service!

Ok, I eventually found out what the issue is. Due to the way BGFL has been setup individual schools can't setup an SMTP relay. I can only use the LEA relays but because we have moved to O365 we can only use the outbound relay. Effectively Spiceworks can now send but it can't receive, Link2ICT are looking into if they can make this work on ports 993 or 995. If they can't my options are: 1. Internal mail server on a sub domain just for Spiceworks. 2. Host Spiceworks outside of the LEA system. 3. Find an alternative helpdesk that will work with proxies. All good fun.

Right, I guess that means the only way I can get spiceworks to work is to use the SMTP relay. Out of interest I put the local server into the Spiceworks outgoing settings and I got: "Error on outgoing settings: Sending email from SMTP server failed: end of file reached" not sure if this is relevant at all.

I thought Spiceworks would not go through a proxy??

Sorry, the test message just sits in the Queue. On the off chance I have messed up with the test message, what settings would Spiceworks need to go through the relay? Would it just be the IP of the SMTP server? As our Spiceworks is on a different server to the SMTP does the Spiceworks server IP need to be added to the connection and relay settings?

Yes, I have [email protected] with the correct password (basic authentication). It is a full mailbox (not shared) with a full A2 license associated with it.

Still not going through but I have noticed that the FQDN listed above the Smart Host is our internal server name. Would this be an issue? I have no errors at all in the event log now.

FYI I am on Server 2008 R2, I have found the Smart Host setting under advanced delivery but it is empty.

By smart host do you mean the relay server? If so it is just one of our DCs. The ports are set to 587 as per the instructions.

Sorry to drag up an old thread but I have just moved to Office 365 and I am having trouble setting up the relay. I have added the role as outlined in the link posted by @sukh, I think I have all the settings correct. However when I drop a test message into the Pickup folder it gets moved into the queue folder and then stays there. Looking at Event Viewer I get: "Message delivery to the host '213.199.154.23' failed while delivering to the remote domain 'XXXXXXX.XXXX.sch.uk' for the following reason: The remote server did not respond to a connection attempt." I am stumped and don’t know what I have done wrong or how to get around it.

Its not necessarily the cars that cause the problem, its the way people drive. Not accelerating harshly and reading the road as to not use the breaks where possible saves an enormous amount of energy / fuel / pollution. One of the main problems is drivers not keeping a good distance whilst on a motorway; I know it is impossible to do. As soon as you open a 2 second gap there will be someone else jumping into it. Although better that most countries; our collective driving standards leave much to be desired.

This does work with the variable speed limit slowing traffic down further back on the road. All you will get in this situation is the exact same as now just a little slower and people driving even closer to the car ahead.

OP States that the switches appear to be old so was just covering COM, same senario with Baud Rate. XP was esier as Hyper Terminal was built in.

To start with you need to know the IPs of the switches. If you have an XP laptop with a serial connector you are in luck as you can use Hyper Terminal with the following settings to connect to the switch directly: •Baud rate (or bits per second): 9600 •Date bits: 8 •Parity: None •Stop bits: 1 •Flow Control: None The serial connection for the older HP switches is usually on the back so some may be awkward to get to. Once you have the connection you will have a CLI just type menu and press enter. Once you are in you should be able to find the IP and document it, personally I would have them all set to static IP's in a continuous range outside of the DHCP scope. Using this method you will know exactly what switch has what IP. Unfortunately inheriting messy cabs is nothing new and trying to justify the cost of a few hundred 0.5m patch cables can be difficult to those who do not have to deal with the consequences.

Apple TV has been awful to project with iPads in my experience, sometimes the iPads will not connect for no apparent reason. Other times the Apple TV does not get listed in the available Air play devices. I have used Reflector and it is 100x more reliable than Apple TV (in my experience).

@plexer and @Boredguy may already know the answer to this but as I understand it so far: You have got the majority of your old (Easylink) accounts synced with your new accounts (O365) using IMAP. However you are now unable to connect the last couple of mailboxes manually even though all of the details are correct. Out of interest do you know the exact number of accounts that are currently synced? Could there be a hard limit of IMAP connections the Easymail server will allow?

The problem I have always had with General Elections is that I may want to vote for a particular local candidate but may not necessarily want the party they represent to win at the national level.

Not just that issue with BHX, the runway is only just long enough for the flights from Dubai so the pilot probably could have landed but would possibly have run out of runway.
