Yes, what I was thinking of doing was create a new location for the laptop and just allow everything through just for the time it is being used (not ideal but at least it will be supervised whilst in use). I did try the Beta but saw the same issues in the web filter logs as when we used the application i.e. loads of IP addresses being denied.

As per the title; we are currently trying to get Skype to work, having read some previous posts here from 4 or 5 years ago I was hoping things may have moved on. Unfortunately I'm hitting the usual brick wall, I have allowed skype.com but then see a multitude of blocked IP addresses on the live web filter when trying to use Skype. Allowing these IP address doesn't seem to help as different addresses appear, I am presuming this is due to the P2P nature of Skype, I have even tried the browser based beta and still have the same problem. Has anyone successfully got Skype working?

I purchased my first set of Learnpads before Christmas and they are running 4.4.4, I don't know if this is because it is on a new spec of hardware.

If it is just the FAT table that has gone, you may find that certain Linux distros can still read it. Knoppix used to be my go to OS for this but that was about 5 years ago.

Just putting this out there for information more than anything. I have spoken to several schools in the last couple of months who are considering leaving Link2ICT. Amongst the questions I have fielded one is brought up nearly every time; will HR Portal still work if we move? The answer is a definite YES, HR Portal is a publicly accessible website and will work no matter who your ISP is. The need for this post is because after a conversation I had today it appears that Link2ICT are still telling customers (at least the ones I have spoken to) that this is not the case. If you are in this scenario and have been told this in writing please post here or PM me, I would like to see if this is common practice to deter people from leaving.

Missed it too but I can see we actually hit 60Mbps on our Smoothwalls external interface, by far the highest sustained usage since its install in April. I suspect this won't be beaten until England play Wales in the summer.

Yes, that roundabout was practically gridlocked last night. I managed to get through quite well with some careful filtering on my motorbike. Have you looked at the processes tab to make sure it is actually SIMS / SQL using those resources? Depending on the size of your SIMS database I would say 2 cores isn't very good on the processing front. Edit: @Steve21 beat me to it.

I had one of these at my old site and had constant problems; I had replacement drives, SATA cables and new RAID Cards (all under warranty) the stupid thing was still unreliable after all of that. From what I can find the NASBOX C should have an LSI 8704ELP RAID controller, I would see if there is any documentation around for the beep sequence meaning. On startup there should be the option of opening the LSI RAID Utility which should provide more information and give you the ability to silence the alarm at least. Hopefully it will also let you know if any of the dives have failed, this type of NASBOX also has background consistency checking enabled by default. Not exactly helpful I know but it should give you a starting point.

If you have one link for each, one may be idle whilst the other is at full bandwidth. So I wouldn't restrict yourself on the links between the buildings. I would trunk your two 1GB links to give yourself the maximum throughput possible at all times.
