  1. VERY expensive though - cant really justify it
  2. I dont believe that - and even if it does snow, bet it doesnt on the coast....
  3. Make sure you have a set of reusable bags in any car she might use - and make sure they get put back afterwards! I carry a nifty little material bag that folds up really small for those small purchases. Electric tooth brush heads? You need to pick your battles - one every couple of months is not as urgent as the bag/packaging/straw etc issue
  4. It's very quiet on here this morning... *imagines poor edugeeks slogging through huge snowdrifts with the sound of wolves howling in the background..
  5. Yep...but I have just watched the weather forecast and it talks about possible blizzards by the end of the week in the south! No doubt that will be everyone except me, @Oaktech and whoever else lives too close to the sea to get decent bad weather..
  6. THE WALKING DEAD IS BACK TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  7. Stop using plastic straws anywhere - refuse them in cafes etc. Get your own metal one if you really need it. Stop using cotton buds that have plastic middles - I have just done a beach clean and there were SO MANY of those cotton bud sticks around. You can get ones with rolled paper middles. Use your own cup at the coffee shop - you sometimes get a discount! Use a water bottle - STOP buying plastic bottles of water - our water is some of the best in the world - we dont need bottled water Stop using wet wipes - they take a very long time to decompose. Switch to loose tea (you can get nifty little containers that you put the tea in and then dip like a teabag - I have a manatee shaped one). Some teabags contain plastic! Buy bamboo toothbrushes (slightly dodgy as they are chemically treated - but still) I am horrified by the amount of plastic such as meat trays etc. I'm sure Sainsburys had plastic film made of corn oil a while ago - what happened to that? I have dog poo bags ( https://www.muttsbutts.com/mutts-butts/about-us) that are made of properly recylcable materials: Symphony Environmental Technologies | Making Plastic Smarter : Symphony Environmental Technologies Plc shows you the chemicals used in the bags. Why other plastics such as film cant be made of this I dont know
  8. How so? Younger people dont watch films with old people in them? Imelda Staunton, Timothey Spall, Joanna Lumley, Celia Imrie? What about other oldies? Helen Mirren? Maggie Smith? Denzel Washington? That's daft
  9. Finding Your Feet An extremly predictable and lacklustre script made vatchable by the talented cast
  10. and here
  11. That is what I should have said. The ones that are scams, such as the mock Microsoft ones, yes, by all means put the phone down (even then, that is a lot politer than some). But the ones who are just trying to do a job? It doesnt hurt anyone just to be kind, does it?
  12. I know it is fun to bait these people, but why not just say "No thank you" and put the phone down? Politeness costs nothing and some of these poor s***s are probably just trying to make ends meet
  13. You should all check out how much these things are going for on ebay. It is interesting what sells - I've become a reseller in a small way and I have learnt a lot. The strangest things do sell! I have some lightscribe disks up for sale as we speak
  14. I've got a Wii somewhere too - don't even know where it is. I think we used it about 4 times. Someone gave me a Lightscribe DVD writer - no idea what to do with it - cant even sell it on ebay
  15. The "awards" board is visible from reception so any visitor could see it. Also we have the staff pictures and names - is that an issue or not? I never thought about cleaners - I dont know if they are spoken to. The main one is also our caretaker but I dont think anyone has spoken to her either.
  16. Its an esky ES016 Yes, the PC sees it as a keyboard *I had it as a wireless device with a dongle. I went back to wired and now - cross fingers- it seems to work! Thanks all
  17. No manual - very brief instructions on how to set up = basically you scan two barcodes. I dont know if it is something I have done or am not doing, or whether I have a faulty scanner. The only documentation states that a scanned barcode will appear in WordPad, a txt file or excel. Which it doesnt.
  18. @bennz I have no idea what that means. I just scan the barcodes in books. I have done all the setting up and such that is suggested. No luck sadly - in notepad, wordpad or excel
  19. We have weekly achievers - name on a board with photo
  20. Can anyone help? We are in dispute over the service so MLS have suspended our account. The librarian has bought an esky scanner and we cannot get the barcodes to appear anywhere although it does look and sound as if they are being read. Does anyone know how to set it all up? I've followed the instructions and as I say, it seems to work, but where are the barcodes?
  21. There was South African in there - from the guy who had lived in Wacanda all his life... According to a friend of mine, there was a sort of generic "African" accent from quite a lot of people, along with a bit of Caribbean from some. Also some Ghanain, Zimbabwe, Nigerian, and goodness knows what else!
  22. Unexpectedly meeting one of my children when out for a walk. It's so nice to see them as others see them ( unbelievably gorgeous, of course!) before recognition kicks in.
  23. Black Panther. It was OK - bit of a nothingy movie really. Quite fun listening to all the different versions of an African accent though
