Ye it's a shame there wasn't a way to run Skydrive via Office 365, can understand why it's been replaced but the Sharepoint space is a) smaller and b) harder to integrate. Manually signing up with a separate login isn't a workable solution so SkyDrive is effectively finished once the 365 migration kicks in. Until we upgrade I'm considering not provisioning any more Live@Edu accounts as it might end up confusing people with who gets SkyDrive (old accounts) and who doesn't (any new ones after the upgrade). After waiting so long for a Windows SkyDrive app and a web API we need something similar to access Office 365 files. Maybe there's a way using Windows native capability being that it's just connecting to a Sharepoint site?

That's handy for dual screen users as you can't snap a window to the right-hand side for 50:50 viewing with mouse alone

Best way to deal with Libraries is just to remove the Public folder locations and deploy the updated library-ms files via GPP (or mandatory profile if you have one) We've done that with our test machines and works fine, safer bet than killing the feature completely imo

Depends on what flavour of cloud you prefer... - Google... 100% browser based software - Microsoft... mix of local and cloud linked through Office

VDI in theory has some great benefits but still painful on the initial setup costs imo

We got the educational ones from Hills (also available on eBuyer) and shackle them to the PC through the same fitting as the security cables... they can't go far that way

My logic behind that is if you want a restrictive, locked down OS for those with... umm... limited IT skills then you might as well have the popular one that the sheep know and love. Can't see why the iPad crowd would want to flock to Windows when their current device does what they want from it? As for Macs, many people seem to have been sitting on the fence waiting to move for years but the change to a new OS \ UI was the limiting factor, with 8 it's a whole new way of working (and from my testing so far a much poorer one on a desktop) so at that point you don't have much to lose (apart from around £1k in Apple tax!) Time for some celebrity endorsements perhaps... those seem to sell stuff to the consumer crowd

Nice way to end the week with a bit of success Just need to decide whether to stick with EAP-TLS or go PEAP-MSCHAP or PEAP-EAP-TLS... seeing as I have the certificates working OK I guess it's just a matter of deciding how I want the security set up (as far as I understand it)... - EAP-TLS... just authenticate the WLAN via machine certificate (set up and working at the moment) - PEAP-EAP-TLS... authenticate user and computer via certificates - PEAP-MSCHAPv2... basic authentication via Computer account then username \ password Just reading another thread on here I'm leaning towards EAP-TLS to avoid the possible Computer Account expiration issue some experienced when machines aren't used for a while. Also wondering if EAP-TLS might work better for any non-MS devices we might use in future (iPads, Android devices etc?)

You've read my mind, was thinking of a small package with the XP diskpart \ format commands to set up the partition instead of the standard SCCM step, use WMI to filter either of them out et voila sorted

Cracked it A couple of changes sorted the problem... a) making sure 802.1X EAP was entered on authentication method on the WLAN in Ruckus (someone else set this up for me initially and left it off) b) re-creating the shared secret, RADIUS client etc from scratch... start with a really simple secret to make sure it works then go for a complex one later c) XP SP3 clients won't auto enrol their certs if you use the 2008 template when following the MS guide to duplicating templates Think I might leave my cert template as 2008 due to XP being removed in summer anyway... Thanks for the reply, knowing that the method was correct helped go back and find the simple things... I'm a happy RADIUS user now

Think I'll try and create a quick and dirty auto-boot CD that will set up an XP-grade partition then have a separate Task Sequence for MR052 laptops that doesn't involve the Create Partition phase (not sure if conditions can be set via WMI that early on in the installation process)
