Windows 8 runs well on the 900MHz Celeron in our old Samsung Q1 Ultra, was gutted when the screen resolution message came up as the touchscreen is ideal for it. I know there's the bodge to force the higher resolution but the text does look rather naff in that mode

Are your users on roaming profiles? To ensure everything is clear before we start mapping we added an additional entry (level 1 on the list) to Delete All printers then start from scratch on each logon. That way if a user moves to another machine you don't get crud building up in the printer list. Also seeing as it's a Monday double check the order the preferences are applying in... note that the window doesn't auto arrange by default so although your Update preference might look in the right place it could be applying before the mapping or something along those lines.

Was taking some screenshots for the blog the other day and wanted to save the images direct to my SkyDrive from MSPaint. Went to Save As expecting to see SkyDrive in the locations list but it wasn't there? Are MS really making you manually download the SkyDrive client for Win8 Desktop mode when it's already built into the OS for Metro apps or have I missed something obvious?

Same, not quite sure when or why CGA-style 80's colours have come back into fashion at Microsoft HQ. If you read that rather long blog post about why they've gone Metro it seems the company has done a 180 shift from transparent glass effects and photrealistic icons to minimalist white and single tone colours... trying to be different for the sake of it or on the whim of a designer somewhere?

Ink is there but works differently which takes a bit of getting used to. Load times are slower than v10 Activation was a pain as a load of our machines failed while imaging and even manual activation didn't work only to mysteriously come back online a few hours later

Are they Thinkcentre Edge machines with Realtek NICs by any chance? Drivers for that card are awful, try enabling the GPO "always wait for network" and Google for the DHCP Media sense reg key that you might also need to disable.

Snap Logon screen is easy as you just need to name them correctly for each resolution and Windows applies the correct one

Just timed ours, 10-13 seconds at the moment. Check in Event Viewer > Applications & Services Logs > Microsoft > Group Policy to see what's taking the time. Mine has a 10 second delay in processing User Policy I might take a look at to see if I can cut that down at all. Killing the WinMail key makes a big difference, once that's down and the GPOs suggested in the other thread not sure how much more can be done.
