have you tried running the console direct from the the direct-access server? as that will have all the turedo gubbins in place to translate ipv6 to ipv4, or create an ipv6 turedo connection on the impero server? Not au fait with the product, but we have the same problem with SCCM and have all the IT workstations set for turedo, so we can remote control over direct access

That's fine nice to have some input. Those are great ideas, but only if I wanted to change the VLAN ID for the whole interface, I want to keep the main interface on one VLAN, and create a logical secondary adapter that is on another VLAN. Usually this is done by enabling Teaming with just the one NIC member, and then adding a logical interface to the team with the VLAN ID, thereby creating a separate adapter in the adapter settings which can be used by programs on the host. I think as I am effectively passing the physical NIC's direct to the Hypervisor, where an interface is created for the management and VM's, I have taken this option off the table. My only option at the moment, is to actually use a physical NIC untagged on the VLAN to pass in the iSCSI traffic, which would be my preferred course of action, but when in lockdown, I wanted a "quick and easy" way to test! Thanks anyway, and I know the feeling, I think I am working harder now than I do when in the building at work!!!

Thanks, but setting it in the switch would remove the whole interface from our main VLAN, I want to add a separate interface referencing just one VLAN to the host, to use for iSCSI traffic. I think I am plumb out of luck on this one tbh, I think I need to run another fibre to the core, and untag there back into a separate NIC

Morning all, I am playing around with our Hyper-V setup, toying with the idea of Starwind VSan on our Dell NX series storage servers coupled to our current Dell 740 hosts. The VSan bit is fairly easy, and I have created an asynchronous replication between the 2 NX's(as one will go up the road and be part of DR, if I sign off on this properly) I have used a VLAN to segregate iSCSI traffic away from the normal LAN, pushed 8Gbps while replicating, so that should be fine Now, on the NX's, I just created a single NIC team, and added a second interface referencing the VLAN, works great. Obv will multipath 10Gbe ports at a later date. On the 740's its differnet as I have my Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter referencing a 10Gbe NIC with no IP settings, then that is passed to Hyper-V, so they can use the existing VLAN's. This means I can't team the interface and do the same as the NX's(I don't think). Anybody got any idea how I can work this to get a VLAN interface onto the 740's host interface? Or am I stuck with just using another NIC untagged to that VLAN from the switch? Which isn't a problem...if I was able to get to work to sort that out, but things as they are, not so easy! I'm not sure if it's still the case, but HP inkjets always used to have the head in the ink cartridge, so essentially the printer could be stood for "years" and then revived just with a new set of cartridges, unlike others that just dried up and became garage door stops

We looked at upgrading from 2016 to 2019, and it just wasn't worth it, also they state you need 128GB minimum memory(up from 8!!!), and only 2019 server is supported. Also the new feature set is small. I would look to go 2016 if I was still on 2013.

We have on-prem Exchange and can use the calendar functions in Teams, with Meet Now and New Meeting both available. I believe this works through Autodiscover and only after UR3 Exchange 2016. Your autodiscover needs to point back to on-prem and fit the requirements and it should feed into Teams

OSTicket here, been using it for years, has it's foebles, but AD integration makes it a breeze, not to mention ours is Linux based so fit and forget, until you actually need to update! We also have it set so people can just email helpdesk@ so they never have to go near the web interface if they don't want!

10 is usually the best to go for these days, mirrored and striped array. You lose half the storage, but gain redundancy and keep speed to a maximum, in terms of rebuild and access.

We use the latest version of SSMS to connect through all our SQL servers, the oldest being 2008R2(I know, I know)

We run a single unifi controller in a ubuntu or debian VM, but around 60 AP's over 5 sites connected with VPN. Controller just takes it all in, everything nicely sorted by site. Love them

Also, bear in mind if your VM internet is on a dynamic address rather than a static once, your website may just stop working when the IP changes, unless you are using a dynamic DNS service of course

What we want to do, is run our team creation script which already creates the team, adds the owners, adds the members, then subscribes everyone to the team, then we want it to automatically create a stream group and add it as a tab in the team. So when the lecturer goes in for the first time, it is all ready with the tab there ready to show the students lists of the things that will be recorded. We want IT admin to be minimal, run the script, leave them to it. At the moment, we create the team with the script then for each course we have to go to Stream, link the Teams group, copy the URL, then go to the newly created team, add a tab, paste in the URL and done. For a lot of courses, that's a lot of admin. Does that make sense?

Afternoon all, Like a lot of places, we are starting to use Teams for students. We like the idea of recording the meetings. Great, works well. We want to use Stream as this is where they are upload to and processed. We can manually add a group in stream, and then tab that group into the Team channel, then we can upload the link from the stream recording into that tab, for easy viewing later for the students. This is all manual though, we create the teams automatically, but then we have to go in and create all the stream stuff manually, and cant really ask the lecturers to go and create it all, we don't mind them having to link each video, but the group setup is a bit beyond!! Is there no PS or automation with this to make it easier? I know they can see the content in Stream itself, but we are trying to make things easier than scrolling up and down the chat for the link, or having to go to another app out of teams to find things! We got the A1 plus assigned automatically at the same time as Plus for students, might be worth a phone call to MS licencing to ask why you haven't got the A1 Plus for Faculty licences, sometimes you just have to ask, like for KMS keys these days

We use Ricoh and Papercut NG, we find people print a hell of a lot more than copy these days. We use the inbuilt addressbook with codes matched to our 6 digit VLE user codes, so people don't have to use their AD credentials on a crappy touch screen. Our scripts for user setup do this, using some code that interfaces with the copiers API, so AD setup and Ricoh setup in one. We then turn on usercode auth on the copier to stop the little tykes ravishing them for their wares. We then have Raspberry Pi touch screens with bar code readers at each copier for release stations, and print the usercode as a barcode on their badge! We are thinking of moving to NFC though. Works well and keeps us in the basic 500 user tier of PaperCut and not having to deal with the heady prices of MF. I am told that NG is sold by PC themselves in Aus, hence being reasonable, but MF is farmed out to resellers in the host countries, and marked up accordingly...Although I assume there are more costs involved with integrations, but it was a massive jump over NG to retrofit our fleet of Ricohs(10 of them)

I think current thinking on RAID is to get rid of the old R1 for OS and other RAID for Data, and go OBR10, One Big Raid 10. Disks are cheapish these days, and there is no need to have a seperate OS array.

Do you mean common area phones? I believe there is a standalone licence for them. They do a common area and a meeting room licence, one being basic, one having all the other bells and whistles needed for meetings

I have used phone system without a calling plan, ok in a testing scenario with a trial of A5 and a trial of AnyNode, but I could make calls using AN as a bridging point between Teams and our internal SIP telephone system(asterisk based PBXact). I was not at any point scuppered by needing a plan as well, terrible value as they are.
