  1. Watched both 2, hmmm, slow burner
  2. Lupin on NetFlix. While waiting for the oldest to get her back side in gear for our next episode of Bridgerton, we decided to watch something else as a stop gap, this was on the top 10 for NF, so we gave it a go, quite imaginative heist caper stuff, dubbed into English from the original French, but we will continue on this one too!
  3. Turns out my maths was wrong, the VDI hosts run ESXi, and only have 2 windows server VM's for the connection servers, as composers and security servers are now effectively gone, so we can licence with standard across the physical cores and have our 2 windows std VM licences, couple of grand saved minus 28 from DC count, plus 28 to Std count
  4. DS9 got good in the last couple of seasons with proper arcs, rather than the earlier baddy of the week type seasons. Voyager kept up a good arc throughout I thought, probably cos of the nature of "must get home, mkay".
  5. Some of those std servers are domain controllers at different sites, as we have 5 sites over the UK, so to keep a copy of AD local, local storage etc, 2 are massive 56TB file servers(1 at HQ and 1 at remote site for DR) and 2 are BigBlueButton servers in a Scalelite pair, as they like bare metal for good voice and general "workiness". Most of our main servers are virtualised, and have been since 2010, hence the 2 virtual hosts(2 at HQ and 1 at remote site for DR again), and the other 2 DC's are VMWare Horizon hosts.
  6. We have 9 physical servers running Standard, all dual proc, between 6 and 10 cores each, so 148 cores total. We have 5 physical servers running DC(mostly virtual hosts and VDI hosts), again all dual proc, between 8 and 14 cores each, 122 cores total Licensing is per 2 cores, so by my calcs we need 74 Std and 56 DC, unless my maths is off... Thanks James
  7. Morning all, Going through our core count for our physical servers and it's scary on OVS, would it be any better if we perpetual our physical servers, or would that be a horrendous upfront cost. Currently at 148 cores so 74 2 core licenses for Std and 122 cores so 56 for DC. Hate the per core model, penalises faster and dual processor servers. Thanks James
  8. Couple of episodes into Bridgerton on NetFlix, was resigned to having to watch yet another period drama with the other half, but pleasantly surprised so far. Time will tell.
  9. "The Serpent", bit strange to start with the time jumps, but really enjoyed it
  10. Strange, we are A1 Plus, so not sure if we are banded in or not, we still have access to Live Events...
  11. Anyone have any updates on this? Is it still available? Thanks James
  12. Queens Gambit on Netflix, not was I expecting, but a good watch all the same. No chess knowledge needed!
  13. Just finished The Crown season 4, could be a whole discussion in itself really. Facts mixed with a lot of fiction. Those watching who weren't around at the time or don't have a grasp of UK history, may take it as gospel, just saying...
  14. Watched Goodfella's with the partner and daughter, one of my favourite films, I couldn't believe they hadn't see it. Still amazing on my umpteenth watch of it!!
  15. Roadkill, really enjoying it. A few plot holes in the 3 episodes we have watched so far, mostly in what a minister would and wouldn't do(or be able to do). V twisty turny and quite a few avenues they can take at our point of watching into how the plot progresses.
  16. It's not Lupus best running gag ever!
  17. Rewatching House for the umpteenth time as OH had never seen it. Still amazing
  18. Morning all, Getting the wonderful world of AWS, and it is making my brain hurt. We want to test a single server in the cloud to act as a gateway for a proposed DR setup for our BigBluebutton servers. This will involve a single t3.small with a public IP, that will run Scalelite, the BBB scaling system, which will then connect to our BBB VM's on site(with public IP addressing at our end) Now, do we need R53 or a VPC to do this? ie to get a public IP? We don't need to run BBB in the cloud, hence not really needing a VPC, but not sure on public IP addressing in a single instance. Any pointers into how this hell works? Thanks James
  19. We've got one in the kitchen, more of a glorified oven timer, one in the bathroom, and a flex in the shed office. These 2 will be for the garage and youngest's bedroom, mainly as we can drop in and tell her to get off tik tok and get in the shower at random times during the day
  20. Just bagged a couple of 3rd gen Dot's for £18 quid each, nearly 2 for 1!
  21. Enola Holmes, surprisingly enjoyable, slightly iffy plot though. Not sure if this is a pilot for a series or the kickoff for a series of sequels.
  22. Has this been extended again? It was 1st of Oct, but my IT manager says he can still access it? Thanks James
  23. in 2 minds, love a good update. On my personal machine, Asus Prime x470 Pro and 2700x proc, it was so buggy when I first got it, random BSOD, complete shutdowns the works, now about 4 BIOS updates later(and probably the last I will get) it is rock solid and runs for ever, sleeping every night. On my works P52s Lenovo, one update bricked the USB-C sub system, and I had to have an engineer out to replace the motherboard, as there was no going back!! Very wary updating that wee beasty now!
  24. I know it's not exactly TV, and more podcasty, but love me a bit of Smith and Sniff https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCetcgTqJiNFKYipfBT1YIWQ If you are anyway car and irrelevant banter inclined, well worth a listen
  25. Finally ploughing through Line of Duty after completing The Fall. Into series 3 now, and my god is it compelling, now I believe all the hype it got when it was big! Well worth a watch, even if all conversations between me and t'other half mostly revolve around this and putting the washing out!
