Nope, there is a deny on it which is inherited which seems to override everything.

Doesn't work, thats why I need to delve deeper.

I seem to have a few users with funny permissions on their mailboxes and I can't see how to change them. When I use the command Get-mailboxpermission "username" it list loads of my domain accounts as having deny permission... some inherited and some not. I have tried deleting them using the powershell but that doesn't work (no errors) I am sure when I started I dug down into the bowels of EX2007 to set something but I can't find out where it is.. anyone have a clue how I can fix it.

I was tempted not to use these guys after I read a few threads on here but the price I got for the SB and projector install was too good to pass up. I wasn't in school but they came in on a Saturday and did everything I asked.. even phoned me up beforehand to make sure everything was set. Extremely well installed kit, very tidy trunking and lined up exactly.. can't fault them. I will defo use them again (well that team anyway)

Just got a few log-box units... biggest pile of **** I have ever used. The software is awful... one minute it works, the next it doesn't... depends on the tides I think. Tried installing on one machine.. worked for admin and staff.. not for kids.. moved test kids account and gave it full access to the profiles.. still didn't work. Tried another machine... worked for admin and kids straight away... thought it may be some software thats already on the machine. Went to a brand new machine with nothing on, now it doesn't like the USB>Serial cable. We have a few TTS stuff and they are all temperamental and I would avoid them like the plague.

Thanks for that. As far as I can make it it states 'personal computer' so the personal edition cannot be used in school... this right?

Hi, A new teacher has arrived with loads of resources on FLP format and we don't have any Promethean products in school. How does the personal edition work with licensing in school?

The only problem is I tweaked the OWA alot, have a certificate that I am not sure I kept the private key for and GFI which is configured just how I liked it.

Got a VHD with the partitions on it, it won't boot as it blue screens so I am trying a repair install... fingers crossed Got one VHD repairing using Hyper-V and another in Sunbox. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WORK as I really don't want to have to rebuild it. Just thankful that I got a big Hyper-V server earlier this year with the capacity to run exchange.

Hi, I came in this morning and my Dell 1850 raid has died a death, 5 years old and I need to get it back up and runnign ASAP as its the exchaneg server. It was just running a couple of mirror drives, the data is still on the drive and seems okay... I put it into another server and the data is there. Can disk2vhd take the disk and create a VHD from it? I reckon I will need to repair it anyway. Its currently doing it but there is another 90 minutes left to do. If this fails what other way can I use, there are so many acronis products out there I am not sure which one to use. Any help would be apppreciated as I am nearly at the stage when i am lookign for a postmans outfit and a belltower.

Hi, I am trying to get the script on Reset the file permissions on homedrives - Wiki to run... I had it running before I went on holiday by changing something but can't see what I am doing wrong.. the CHOWN works but the xcacls doesn't play nicely. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am havign to rebuild my server The xcacls file is in the same folder as the vbs script below and so is the chown file. After several hours of hair pulling (trying to find a floppy that worked for raid and realising 2008 doesn't work) I managed to get a parallel install going on a IDE drive and installed the Adaptec Strorage software to see what the raid was doing. Every time I started it the utility crashed and Adaptec (who were very good and quick replying to emails) we decided the controller was so old and out of date that the conversing got corrupted and I should reinstall from a backup so I am starting from afresh. I was hoping that the old drives that I replaced would slot back in but I didn't mark down the order and it does seem to store the raid data on the disks.. as soon as they started rebuilding it was corrupted. @Duke.. I did the replacing one disk as a time.. worked a treat until I stupidly saw this dropdown in the Adaptec utility saying (expand logical drive) and thought I would try it.. I was intending just to create another Raid 5 volume across the disks... wish i had done now

Can only comment on the refurbished stuff as I only have 1 or 2 other desktops. The refurb stuff is rubbish, 50% failure rate.. had to send quite a few back but its the risk you take with stuff so cheap. Would never use them for my suites though, the aftercare is still very poor although when i called up today instead of Ireland it was india.

Morning, going on Holiday on Friday and need to get this sorted I replaced the drives in my old server with larger 750Gb ones... added them as hot spares and they all worked.. then I thought I would try the little utility to expand the logical drives and its broken the server. When I boot into it now its saying rebuilding and no OS found.. its been like it for 2 days so I reckon the rebuilding is duff. Also the Adaptec utility crashes out when I go into it I still have the old disks, how do I go about putting these back in and starting again

As I started this thread I thought I would update it, watched every episode so far Can't recognise Lucy though...its still rubbish though but I will keep watching it.

Number 723 in my list of W7 hates. Xp to W7 shares decide to fly away when they feel like it, the internet is filled with this problem. I am just trying to use the storage on W7 to do a bit of movinf files around but half way through it dies. Anyone seen this? Seen a SMB2 fix which I am about to try.

Netgear all the way for me, small school so can't justify expensive switches and they have never let me down.... oh and I like the blue. Just put in a couple of GSM7224s with fibre modules to start vlanning... if I can get my head round it. have one in my office ready to play with.

What a rubbish day i have had If it wasn't for the pub lunch i would be more moody. Zen have swiched us over to LLU with all the 21CN that goes with it and when i came in this morning I found my ever reliable BeWan ASDSL modem in my smoothie isn't compatable Such a shame as I liked having the ability to sort out problems from one box... and the nice reboot on errors that smoothwall had so if the line went down it rebooted itself. Anyway I was in a ruch and CCL didn't have much choice in the shop so I got a Belkin ADSL2+ G router. Eventually got it working (the port forwarding baffled me... why change the name to virtual server???) but I can't get the bridging working on the router. Can anyone recommend a ADSL2+ router thats nice and reliable which does bridging with smoothwall.... prefer the bridging method as the Lan method I am using now just doesn't seem right.

I best read up a bit more on them... just tried to tag one of the ports and lost communication with the switch.. there was nothing plugged into the port either so I messed up somewhere.

Just getting my head round Vlans as I have been buying GSM7224 switches to upgrade my network. I have a fibre switch that just repeats the fibre from one building to another... bypassing the switches I just bought. I want to use a couple of fibre modules in the new switch and use that as a repeater... (getting rid of the old fibre switch). Can I set up a port based VLAN so the traffic just comes into the switch on say port 24 and goes out port 23 without seeing the other ports? Its a bit complimacated is the interface... Port PVID config and Port DVLAN... I need to read up on it a little me thinks.

Have to say that the delay in getting the decent reports into Sim.net from T4 is getting frustrating. Our Sims Manager and me have been playing around with the new reports and even though its a step forward they are still rubbish compared to T4. You can't seem to change the footer size or remove the date. The lists come out in forename order not surname The none teaching periods use a full name rather than the timetabling code.. so if a teacher has a head of year free it writes the long name not the short name. Currently our timetabler does the timetable in T6, syncs with .Net.. exports to T4 to do reports... if only there was a way do this all on one program. Oh well... at least we can now send text messages to kids via Sims... which is much more important... anyone would think they are concentrating on generating new revenue rather than improving the current product... oops

I went to see Inception yesterday and I have just about recovered... man what a great film. Nolan is a truly great director and treats his audience like adults. Total Film only gave it 4 stars, IMHO its a defo 5 star film but don't drink too much liquid when you go in... its a 150 minute film and with the adverts (A-team as per usual) its getting close to 3 hours sat down. Superb ending too. Some of the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes are funny.. especially if someone dares to say they didn't like it (the telegraph didn't get it... probably because it wasn't a swedish noir) Highly recommended.. might even go again to see it at iMax

Funny this, i was going to start a thread saying the same thing about w7. I have given up and may go for it next year but the amount of tweaking needed is just plain stupid... the renaming of the home folders is a pain.. the backgrounds... the start menu redirection... Hope the service pack will help with some of this stuff.
