I sorted it, I ended up disabling it like I had in W7. Seems to have solved a few issues for me too.

My GPP has been so unreliable (rock solid with W7) that I decided to jump in a time machine and roll out printers using the startup folder which seems to work a treat. Took me an hour to create all the batch files (I went really old school) and used PDQ deploy to dump all the files on the computers I wanted. Its very crude but the weight off my shoulders is lovely. Just sat here doing it on the machines at work that I can startup from home I am using PDQ deploy to restart the WU service and push the install out manually. Done well over 100 so far no problem. I did go in and run WU and it seems to work fine but I havent done much in anger yet. There is one update online that isnt showing on my WSUS yet so I did that by checking online (Septembers dodgy program update thingy)

Hi, Can someone tell me how they have setup UAC on their staff/pupils accounts. Its doing my head in at present, its prompting for permission when I try and delete a driver now. (dont mention printers to me) I currently have My admin access is weird too which i saw in Windows 7 but ended up disabling UAC altogether. When I try and copy a file from a mapped drive it says the source isnt availble which I thought was cos its running as the administrator account... the unc path route works fine Loving W10 NOT!!!

I've got the power plan and locking issue too. I had it set on the computer GP but have tried it on the pupils GP today to see if it sorted it.... annoying thing is its ignoring the disable lock setting too. I think half my issue is its not waiting for the network before starting.. ignoring that setting too. GPresults says its applying but it aint.

We had the imperial march in a loop when my wife was supposed to walk down the aisle... after 20 minutes on a loop it got very tiring.

Ours start on Tuesday and I've done about 150 PCs.... I am tempted to go back

It ended up being a bug http://www.edugeek.net/forums/smoothwall-direct-support/173834-ports-opening-closing.html He disabled the setting to start with and all came back to life without issues... then they went in and did some changes so it allowed the traffic into the exchange server properly.

Hi, I may be losing my marbles but here goes and i bet its that wonderful UAC. I'm moving some home folders around and hitting a wall with some of them as they say I dont have permission... and I cant access it or take control. It says that machine\administrator has full control and is the owner. The weird thing is I've moved half of them and there isnt any specific permissions on any of them. I've got a few issues with UAc at the moment where I use subst U: "C:\Windows" when I run as an administrator to get round the invalid drive u:\ issue. I had UAC turned off in W7 which i was happy with, Windows 10 seems a bit more fiddly. How have you set the UAC for domain admins?

I went for the AU edition and am rushing to get it deployed around school. I too rewrote alot of my GPs and did WMI filtering for just W10. Only PC I am having issues with is my work one... which isnt on AU, the rest seem fine. Oh except losing there printers sometimes.. but I think prepoluating the drivers helps.

I thought I had fixed it but I found out the pupils group was a member of the domain guests group just like KK20. I dont see the error once I removed it.

I'm also migrating to Windows 10 so its all over the shop here...

Having the exact same issue, I migrated to Exchange 2016 from 2013 which I thought would be an easy job but its been a right pain. I thought it was my autodiscover messed up with the migration but unticking the box fixed it. Only issue is the teachers that have come in over the holidays who tried to run outlook have a corrupt profile but I'll just wipe those out.

Did you get any further with this? I see the same thing, the staff are fine but the pupils get the message now.. when I removed their security group the error goes away. EDIT : Actually scrub that.. the message was appearing when I hadnt chnaged the profile path that they used in windows 7. As soon as I removed it and allowed it to make a new one I didnt get the pop up.

Yeah your right, just worked that out. Weird how the Bios says not installed with the hard drives but it shows up in the boot order???? Just tried SATA port 5 and the HD shows up. No idea why its not showing on 1 and 2 but its installing now... weird

Morning, I havent seen this before so wondering if anyone else has. An Acer Aspire (awful) which is a few years old wont install W10. Comes up with no space no matter what I do. I've Tried WDS and USB install Changed cables Swapped hard drive updated BIOS set bios to default and ried ACHI and IDE, been through all Bios but cant see anything that helps Very strange but I bet its something obvious I am missing

This is happening on my work PC alot running windows 10, I havent noticed it on the PCs I have deployed.. yet. The explorer restart trick usually solves it. No solution yet though

I do, I am tearing what little hair I have left out trying to get the GP sorted for W10. Silly things I am trying to fix When I run a cmd prompt as a admin the drive maps dont work, even though they are mapped as me who is a admin. I pretty much have to either use a UNC path or map the drive when I go into a cmd prompt. Users can save to c:\users\%username% including exe files... never had this before. Office staff are getting redirected desktops... even though they shouldnt Cant pin anything to start menu, even though a policy isnt live Really tempted to go back to W7

Jeeex the simplest things are taking me ages. I cant get this to work, even running it manually from the powershell. It says its completed but Edge is still the defualt for PDFs

It does this when I install Adode DC, I ran it remotely and a popup showed up saying its been reset. It seems to still work though as the default

I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of the programs folder that appears in the start menu with maintennace and startup in it. I've set the GP to hide it but its still showing up.
