Interesting that as we were going for the active speakers so we didn't need an amp and to limit the extra hardware... we currently have a couple of portable speakers with the battery packs in them which are really good for a quick fix. I suppose we could run a cable back to the mixer for the laptop, the mixer will probably go in a desk/trolley so we'd go for a dvd player in there too.

I think we are looking for a system so its easy to plug extra microphones in at the stage if needed. I am not savvy with the terminology.. its a speaker so the performers can hear themselves.. a little one that rock starts like to kick over.

Morning, Does this spec sound okay for a hall? I am playing catch-up trying to learn this. 2 x speakers at the front QSC K12 Active PA Speaker 30m XLR Multi-core (snake) (amp is going at the back of the hall) Allen and Heath ZED16FX mixer (seems overkill to me but was recommended) Then I would need XLR cabling between the speakers.. and a XLR cable from the speaker to the snake breakout box. I also need a feedback monitor, can someone recommend one that's not too intrusive. I went for this spec so we can have multiple options for microphones etc. at the stage I also will be wiring up a standard audio cable to the speakers so we can run audio from laptops (or projectors bypassing the mixer) Anyone else got recommended kit that is better than this?

Hi, I have 3 of these sitting in my office gathering dust. I used them to connect apple tvs HDMI signal to a vga projector. (sound and video)

Its still weird. I connected last night to my outlook using 443 and it was very sluggish and kept freezing. Then all of a sudden it said it lost connection.. I had a RDP connection open also and checked the smoothwall but couldnt see an error.

And the user who said they couldn't use it can now go straight in and I did nothing. I'll take the credit though. Don't you just love networking

just got back from my moms where I could connect fine but the member of staff is still not able to connect... so its either a routing issue with BT (stranger things have happened) or the SW box is not port forwarding right for some external addresses (stranger things have happened)Might have to remote in to have a look.

I'm thinking its something to do with the BT issues the other day as its magically sorted itself out. Maybe a routing issue but now I can get on instantly (and quickly) to everything... well not on outlook but it might be me. I had issues about 7 years ago which was similar which took me ages to sort out... and it was them then too.

Two things happened at the time of this problem starting to happen but I am struggling to find the solution.The BT internet went down so one of my fibres was out of action for a bit... and I updated Smoothwall to the new castle name thingy.When I am at home I try and connect to the school email in outlook via HTTPS... it fails... I try using OWA it fails, I can do a port scan and its working..... if I connect to 4G on my phone it connects both ways.Similar to the remote file access... works on one and not the other.I wonder who is to blame.

I think this is what I expect too, make things as cheap as possible and wait and see the damage.

I do something with Exchange and google calendar and a utility called gsync running on Outlook. I also use catman to share calendar catagories between users. The calendars are on my account which I share with the catagories, gsync syncs every 5 minutes or so to google (each category has a different calendar on google) I over complicate it even more by syncing google to a Joomal site running a calendar module Works well, I use it for our mini bus bookings Our room booking is on MRBS which is ugly but works.

I can't believe M$ would be so stupid to shoot a cash cow in the foot like this but I wait in hope, judging by the corporate worst case scenario the bills will quadruple give or take so a full time TA for us sounds about right.

Seem to getting an error when I try and start a meeting. Your company policy doesn't allow you to use Skype Meeting Broadcast. Check with your system admin to make sure the service is enabled and that you have the correct license. I have a Skype for Business Online ‎(Plan 2) so it should work.

Morning I have logged a case with SIMS about this as I am a bit worried its more serious than I first thought. I was doing some tidying up yesterday and I found a duplicate parent on SIMS, no matter how many times I train staff there always seems to be one that slips in. So I went in to delete it, I added the sibling onto the correct parent and changed the name of the parent so I could find it easier. one thing caught my eye... the parent had lots of kids documents attached to it. When I looked in student details the students name had changed also... so I have a contact who is also a pupil... he is the dad of his brother (banjo music) I've done some more digging and I found a staff member who I created in error 10 years ago who has a Z after their name... who is a parent of a pupil who left 8 years ago which is definitely wrong. Slightly concerned their is data corruption in my system as I managed to find these quite easily.

Hi, I have a couple of ZD 1125 running in redundancy on my network. The issue is one seems to die at least once a month. I reboot it and it comes back to life but I can see anything in the logs to say why. I can't ping it and it's just a flashing red light. I was hoping the management interface setting where you could manage both from one IP would be the same for logging onto the WiFi cia radius but it's not so I need two logon links for when one dies. Not ideal as my secondary for some reason has a dns issue. I need to contact tech support about this but I know the 1125 is end of life. Anyone else seen this? I thought it was because I had put the latest firmware on and it's not the recommended version....and I can't downgrade as the backups aren't compatible. Not happy with them as they have been doing it alot.

(we do it every year honest) I amalgamated our ICT policy into our e-safety policy which I now know is a mistake, what policies do other school have? (currently doing the data protection policy) I have e-safety policy ict aup (soon to live again) data protection social networking byod policy (staff & student) cctv policy google apps policy (bit pointless, will mere in with ict possibly)

I did a test on a simple webpage and it worked but I did buy a Skype for Business Online (Plan 2) license as the Skype Meeting Broadcast licensing is not covered in edu or charity licenses. (I may be wrong)

I haven't yet, I purchased a Logitech C920-C and have tested it using Skype for Business, I can do conferencing via a webpage using this and it seems ok.... and its free with our MS agreement

I thought the Rey thing was actually really good... I loved the way she closed her eyes and got an inner force (whateva). If you look at the abysmal 1/2/3 the light saber battles where just acrobats spinning around, she didnt have much grace when she fought.... and she alrready used a staff. And I am glad the did in HIM, I imagine it will have be one of the reasons the baddie becomes a reall baddie. Didnt like the LOTR ending, would have prefered him to look around for a split second then finish... felt very much like Empire at the end. All in all, 1 trillion time better than 1/2/3 and lots of fun... actually laughed a few times too. The 2 leads were excellent although Rey is quite similar to Amidala....coincidence? Wonder if one of her hand maidens had a quickie with Anakin???
