We use InTune so I'll push it through there.

I did ask 6 days ago if there was predefined roles for the users.. still waiting for a response. I'm sure I'll get used to it but its not the most user friendly console. How did you guy update from v1 on the client?
-
We don't have the external filtering which i presume we haven't paid for. Our devices are 1:1 so the multiple users shouldn't be an issue. We have has some occasions where its not showing someone logged on even though they were which I was hoping would improve in v2.

Morning, I've read quite a few negatives about V2 on here.. have these settled down now or are they still occurring. I inherited V1 which is fine and I've started looking at migrating to v2.. .(they've really messed around with where the settings are). Can't find anything Trying to find the groups to assign the DSL to but can't see any setup. I deployed v2 to one machine, which I didn't reboot, which showed up instantly on the console but as 2 previously logged in users.. this sorted itself out after a reboot. The remote viewer seemed quicker but I was sat right next to it using the same AP. Their support seems a bit pants.. I need to update around 250 machines with the new version eventually.

Just to confirm they do not have any admin rights

I used to block everything when I had a flat network but the users are taking their devices home now. I want them to use Edge as that's what the Smoothwall cloud filter is installed on. The end users are able to install browsers even without admin privileges as some put it in their user profiles. None have admin rights, just standard users. I didn't want to AppLocker them to death like desktops as I don't mind them playing games at home if they want. It does look like they can install Roblox on their devices which we block with Senso in school time. Senso will still pick up anything they do outside of school anyway but the cloud filter is obviously a problem in they use other browsers.

Hi, Has anyone successfully blocked all other browsers apart from Edge? I've tried this on here but I can't find any of these settings All about Microsoft Intune | Blocking other browsers with policies for Microsoft Edge (be careful) We have AppLocker via Intune setup but they just keep installing different browsers so we block that and they find another.

When I spoke to Senso they said the scripts run as system so the ones I'd created to run as the user failed. I went proper old school and just made local GP logon scripts to add the correct home directory, copy the shortcuts to the desktop, add the room printer and copy the examswritepad settings depending on if they need SPAG or not. I did about 25 machines so didn't take long. I still use Senso to block everything and intune to lock the device down.

So I finally got to the bottom of it. It was the fast boot option in the bios. I asked on the HP forum who gave me loads of stuff to try which I'd already tried but I missed that one. The hardware opbviously wasnt fully started when windows wanted it to be. Annoyingly out of a lab of 20 probably 7 would hang randomly and the rest never did. Same OS level, all installed with the latest ISO, all up to date with drivers and bios from HP. Must be slightly different hardware or something but at least its fixed. I'd just started tinkering with the Intune policies to investigate so glad I found it. I'm sure that in the distant past I've had this but me memories not like it used to be.

Just watched the first episode (free on Prime Video).. no idea what to expect from the rest of the series.

I need to pop back and check, they have WIFI enabled so I need to disable this and check how they react when no network is attached. Definitely just intuned and internet access straight to the web.. don't see the AD.
-
Thought I'd solved it . I disabled the startup options apart from the SSD.. 2 still did it. Definitely using UEFI on all devices. Room of 20 and 7 still went to the blue logo

Thanks for the replies.. I'll pop back in the suite at lunch and have another look. The worst thing it's random so I think I fox stuff and it appears again. I just tried something when I left.. I unplugged the network and rebooting and they all rebooted instantly... Doesn't mean it's the issue as it's random but I need to look at that too. I used the lat s 25h2 image and the av is defender. Some of them were on the older os but I upgraded them.... A couple are on US rather than English int too.

Hi, Bit of nightmare here. We had 40 HP mini G9 desktops delivered which were intuned back in june by an external company. When we plugged them in they had timed out of completed their process so we had to reinstall them all. Not that bad as it gave me time to get my head round the system. Problem is they randomly hang at boot at the blue windows logo screen. I have tried. Turning bitlocker off. Turning all the HP bios security off I've updating all the drivers and bios. Nothings in the event log. I ran sfc and repair.. it did find errors on one pc which is repaired . And th one next to it was fine.. rebooted and they both hung again. HP have been out and said to make sure the bios is up to date as it worked fine when he came in. I'm on 25h2 btw fully updated I'm just running the HP UEFI diagnostics now but all looks good. A couple have hung at the wolfguard logo which is why I thought it was a hardware issue.... We had 10 HP laptops delivered at the same time with the same intune policies but they work fine. Has anyone seen this ? Very random and very frustrating

Morning, I inherited this licensing at my new school so forgive my ignorance. I always had desktop licenses where I previously worked as pupils didn't have their own devices and server licenses depending if they were hyper-V or standalone. Pretty straightforward with the Full time staff calculations. My new school has Enterprise Mobility + Security A5 for staff and Microsoft 365 A3 for students use benefit for students. They have purchased separate Defender licenses for all the devices as I was told this used to be included in the AQ5 license but no longer is. I've been told that the servers are activated using the A5 license as they are in Entra.... but I dont have access to any product keys or downloads due to this. Does this sound right? I can see in the admin portal that no license have been assigned to servers or devices also.

I'm rewatching Fallout in preparation for the second series. Not going back to watch Stranger things as I sort of remember what happened at the end of the last series... Kate Bush saved them all.

Evening, I've left this to the last minute as per usual. Inherited a network that's gone to intune so all the old exams restriction gpo's no longer work. I've decided to use senso to block access to anything I don't want for the exams.. seems to work fine (takes a minute to kick in). I created a script to copy the examswritepad depending on who logs on so they either get spell checker or not . Works I can't get the drive mapping to work. Ive used remediation scripts for the staff but they take too long to appear for a exams so I created a logon script that reads the username and maps a drive for that name.. problem is I cannot get it to run as a scheduled task at all. It works if I create a task as exams1 but not if I make one for all users . Copilot is no use I know I'm using old school stuff but I can't work this out. Any advice? Prefer to map to local drives still just in case the internet fails (I know that will messed everything else up) Sick of copilot telling me about a good catch when the script it gave me had an error.;)

Evening, So my new job I've been roped into being the lighting engineer with a show next week. We've had someone on last week who gave the lights a service and replaced loads of bulbs as they had blown. Now to learn MagicQ... I was shown it when the engineer was here and thought I'd got it but I've been in today and I couldn't get it to do what I wanted I think the worst thing is I hate musicals and I really couldn't concentrate as it was so loud in the theatre. I'm back in tomorow for another rehearsal so do you think k it's rude if I wear ear plugs or a headset? I'm sure the software has a logic to it so I'm going in at silly o'clock to sit on my own and get it sorted.. was a bit annoying today when the lights kept going off for the singers.

I'm going to have a play with the 'App Control for Business' setting in InTune to see if I can lock it down with that.
-
Actually scratch that. Can't get it to work. Shame.

This seems to work.. no start menu options but desktop icons reappear which is a good workaround. So long, Kiosk desktop icons | QSOL IT

Evening, I'm playing with intune kiosk mode but got a bit stuck. We've got a lighting pc which I've replaced and intuned and managed to get the software (magicQ) to work as an app. I'm hoping to use this for exams next month so I'm confident I can get the software working but... I want the lighting to auto sign on.. if I use the auto sign o it says the kioskuser0 account has a password error. Can see where it tells me to creat one. I made a local user and got that to auto sign on using the reg hack and assigned it in intune which is fine and the app starts but there's not icons (I didn't think I'd need to create a custom XML for it) and I need it to have access to my docs. It's a great system but a bit frustrating that changes take a while to propogate... I miss gpupdate Any guidance or tip sharing would be great.

Hi, We have a random issue that I've narrowed it down to a cause but not a fix. A new surface pro user cannot install the printer that's deployed by Papercut. It says install failed. Another user and my test user can. So I figured out that it wasn't able to connect to the file servers UNC... then the printer asked for a different username and password which didn't work even on my admin account. I ended up adding credentials through the Windows credentials manager in the control panel to the share and it installed the printer perfectly. Theres nothing unusual about the user and I don't want to have to ask the users to do the credential manager thing.. especially as some are 1:1 devices and others are shared.
