Not working for me either... Which a shame. My FIL has given me a pile of really lovely vintage hifi gear, but his speakers have perished so I was looking for some more.

We've had 90 of the Kingston SSDNow drives for about 3 years, not a single failure.

We don't donate computers with HDDs as a rule, just for our own peace of mind - plenty of other people give stuff away with less concern for previous data, the recipients don't seem to have a problem getting HDDs. Our transfer document is just a small header saying that we are leaglly transferring ownership of these items and rescind any claim to them, and stating that anything that happens to them from then on is the recipients problem, including end of life disposal. Then there is a list of serial numbers and descriptions and a place for the recipient to sign. They get a copy to keep. It's modeled on the one we had tosign to get our donation of machines from Barclays a couple of years ago.

Well, kinda... From someone who has had both... 4 Stroke easy to ride, reliable, low power/CC. Maintenance can be just changing oil and filters for ages... 2 Stroke hard to ride, unreliable, crazy power/CC. Maintenance is a full strip down and rebuild every couple of months!

It all depends what you want from life/motorcycles. If all you want to do is get to work, then a CG125 or a Varadero will do nicely. If you are taller then you might want to look at one of the motocross style bikes like a Derbi or a Sinnis Apache. If you want to go backroad burning on a sunday morning the Yamaha R125 is the way forward. I would personally steer clear of anything with too much plastic on it while you get used to riding - I chucked my CG down the road 4 times in my 1st year and each time I just hammered the brake/gear pedal/handle straight with a rock and rode home!

We have complex password policies for all staff and 'service' accounts. All the accounts expire except very specific ones such as the master domain admin and various ldap binding accounts. Students don't have complex passwords and don't expire although they cant reuse and they are reset at the start of term.

Our previous method, implemented before I arrived, was a VB script that sat in the startup folder of the redirected start menu. This was 100% reliable, but caused the machine to sit for about a minute on 'preparing your desktop' We now do it by GPP and this has been very reliable for us. Ocasionally it is a problem when someone doesn't reboot their machine for weeks, the printer drops off, but as most staff only see one print queue in our follow me scheme they can add it again easily anyway, or a reboot always solves it. We have one GPO that installs 1 or 2 possible printers via GPP and item level targeting based on whether they are Teaching staff, Admin or Pupil. The GPO removes all existing connections before it adds the appropriate printer.

Are you the actual NM or a tech? If you're the NM I'd be throwing toys out of prams. It's your network, it runs Windows for a reason, etc, etc. If you're just a tech then I'd either bootcamp it to windows for use on the network or tell him it's not worth the expense in terms of your time to integrate one device. If you have an RDS server you could offer for him to work in that?

As far as I'm concerned, cloud school IS a possibility. However, I believe at present it can only be done in places with readily available, affordable gigabit main/100mb fail over internet connections (such as the City Fibre enabled GigabitCities) and where BYOD, chromebooks or 1:1 solutions are in use. My thinking is that these devices are not deigned to need specialist imaging and they don't require any significant local background admin that cannot be done in the cloud by GAFE or MDM. My gut feeling is that it's not practical/economical to move a traditional school windows network into the cloud.

Is it not the 'owner' under 'permissions' if you right click the calendar and click propeties?

my last place 25 devices, 3 sites, 5 year lease to get the costs down. This place 4 devices on an 2 year lease to coincide with the contract end for our federated site and then a renegotiation with addition of 4 more devices and a 3 year lease.

The EMCLenovo boxes have built in rsync, but I think they are rackmount now. I've done a similar excercise and I ended up with a bog standard beige ATX case with a motherboard with I think, 12 sata ports and software raid. we made custom brackets in DT and managed to stash all 12 drives in it, plus a fan added to the back and side of the case. I think we used it as our disk to disk location for about 3 years!

How much are you looking to spend? Comms express have good deals on the Buffalo pro range of NAS. I've always been a fan of QNAP, but I agree, their support is getting worse and I wouldn't buy a Synology if you paid me. The brand i've had the best experience with has been EMCLenovo offerings but you're talking real money for them.

Ok, Ok... We finish on the 20th, which is a Wednesday, I am contracted to do 5 days holiday time, which takes me to the following wednesday the 27th.
