I was just rocking up to say either camera or controller...

I've got a 2 node HA cluster, and I've started getting error 1126 and 1129 1126: Cluster network interface 'SVR-CLS-01 - vEthernet (New Virtual Switch)' for cluster node 'SVR-CLS-01' on network 'Cluster Network 1' is unreachable by at least one other cluster node attached to the network. The failover cluster was not able to determine the location of the failure. Run the Validate a Configuration wizard to check your network configuration. If the condition persists, check for hardware or software errors related to the network adapter. Also check for failures in any other network components to which the node is connected such as hubs, switches, or bridges. 1129: Cluster network 'Cluster Network 1' is partitioned. Some attached failover cluster nodes cannot communicate with each other over the network. The failover cluster was not able to determine the location of the failure. The errors appear at random times, they don't appear to be load related as they sometimes occur in the middle of the night, they only appear 1 or 2 at a time, and only ever for a second or so and then may not occur again for several days. They appear simultaneously, to the nearest millisecond on both hosts. If I run the cluster validation tests for the network it always succeeds. No-one has ever noticed an issue, but I'm not happy that it appears at all. The two servers are connected to the network on 4x1gb static NIC teams to 2x HP 1920-48 switches which are in turn connected together with a 6x1gb LACP group. There are very few errors on the switches and the uptime on the switches is >60 days. Any ideas?

It would appear that it was something to do with the join. I've put an IDC joint in the middle, taking out the plug and socket and suddenly everything has sprung into life at full gigabit...

Ok, the order is here, the SFPs all work, I've tested them connecting a switch to another switch and all is well. My only comment is that they have some funny ideas about what 1 metre is. The patch cables all vary wildly in length. None of them are actually a metre, some of them are 97cm, but 2 of them are only 82cm! So to anyone else reading this post wondering if they're OK, it seems so, yes, but maybe if you need 50cm order 1m if you need 1m order 1.5m!

In answer to my own question, it would appear that: a) I haven't got the switches I thought I had - I've got a 1920 and a 1910. b) The 1920 hot plugs and works straight away. c) The 1910 does not. If you plug the SFP in, it recognises the module is present but it doesn't transmit data on them until a reboot.

This seems like a stupid question, but I can't find a definitive answer... I've got a pair of HP OfficeConnect v1910-48 switches with 4x SFP slots in them. They are shortly to be connected with fibre - the first fibre the school has ever had . Turning them off is currently a no-no as one of them has the HA cluster on it. I've created the LACP group on the SFP ports - can I install the SFP's while the switches are live or am I courting disaster even thinking about it? I used to do it all the time with Procurves, but these are not Procurves, they are the rebadged 3com units.

I've done this recently... I've got a pair of Millgate supplied Lenovo 3650 6 core xeon/64gb servers and a lenovo s2200 san with hp aruba 2530 switches with the 10gb modules plugged into them. It's been up for 12 months now except for 1 planned outage to update the backplane firmware in the san. I'm more than happy with it and the whole project with 20tb of 10k sas storage was about 16k. I looked at the vrtx and also the fujitsu hyperconverged san-in-a-box but this system was the most scalable as I am almost certainly going to end up adding our partner school to our setup in the next 12 months.

I was notified that it had been fixed and my own 365 dashboard appears to full featured again.

I've reterminated everything now and I still have no joy! I'm going to run a new cable to it because it's not well done right now.

Someone has done a hatchet job on some cat 5 when they installed it. A new cabinet was installed with a single 24port poe switch in it. No dedicated uplink was run in. A point from the new cabinet was put adjacent to the nearest existing point and the existing point removed, an RJ45 put on the cable and plugged into the new point. (nice). It's only ever operated at 100mb apparently but over night it seems to have randomly failed, but in an obscure way. I've only got a pinout tester rather than a proper certifier, but the whole length tests OK pin for pin. If you plug the whole length into the switches there is no connection. If you plug a laptop into either end of the length with the other end plugged into a switch, you get nothing. If you split the length where they've done the nasty join and plug a laptop into either part of the link you get a connection back to a switch. We've measured the distance with a trundle wheel and it's 57m. I'm out of ideas now as to what on earth is going on. Anyone got a clue?

Unless the rules have changed in the last 4 years that's not what the TV licensing people said to my previous employer...

The other thing to consider is do you have a TV licence? Some schools don't and using a domestic TV with a tuner rather than a commercial display without can get you into hot water.

The problem will be warranty... Most screens have a timer in the firmware somewhere, if it fails and you send it back they will probably refuse the warranty based on it being used for a length of time that is unfeasible in domestic use. My last place decided to go to PC world and buy 3 50" panasonic screens rather than the NEC commercial displays I recomended, they all failed within 6 months and the warranty was refused as they'd been on 24/7. Somehow I was the bad guy! If it turns out that buying 3 domestic screens to get the lifespan of a commercial one is still more economical than buying a commercial one in the first place, go for it.

Sure does... I'm looking at about at 55% saving on any UK price even with the vat and other charges.

I googled that after I posted, and yeah 20% vat, and a £6 fedex fee.

Do you know how much import might be, just so I can make finance aware?

Their prices look too good to be true... Best UK price I can find for 8x HP compatible j4858c sfp and 8x om3 lc-lc patch is £337, Fiberstore can do me the same thing for £105 delivered from the states!

They never have a battery change - the battery is charged in the camera. We had AA powered cameras and they were a disaster because people just nicked them for remotes and stuff.

Menu structure, you need to select, I think, 5mp 4:3 otherwise windows photoviewer throws a hissy and won't print them.
