We have been using Google Docs for almost a year now and I chose not to create departmental areas as a central department resource. My reasoning was that I found if you make a master account for a department and the end user deletes the folder then someone has to sign back into that master account and re-share the folder. Does not sound like much to us but I doubted most of my staff were capable of achieving this and I would ultimately end up getting the blame for missing folders. My view was with 30GB per user, they had enough space to create and share their own items without complicating things. Oh and yes, Google Classroom looks amazing (signed up to hopefully get into the trial) however I bet there are a lot of upset companies because I saw a lot of people selling educational portals which tie in with google docs at BETT this year!

I know iBook author was popular at one point however we have just appointed a new head of our media who I believe is looking at using blogs to publish work on.

Printers and group policy is a total pain in the ar*e. As a work around for the rooms where printers are abit "iffy" deploying I have created shortcuts in a shared area for the students to double click which adds the printer in seconds. I am seriously considering making this the official way to install printers across my site. Like most others I have signed into a laptop as a student 10 times in a row perfectly and then the 11th will take 10 minutes! Drives me nuts.

fairly positive you need an OEM licence for every virtual machine although if I am wrong I am sure a forum member will not take long to correct me

In case anyone was interested I have found a fix (not a great one). I have set up a file screen on the server to scan for and remove "CachedImage_1024_768_POS2.jpg" which seems to be doing the job. Would love to hear of a better way to do this though. As with most things, I assume there is a tickbox somewhere.

Morning all, I am putting the finishing touches to my 8.1 deployment and have hit a problem which I could use some help with. I want to set all users to have the same background image which works however it saves it back to *Userarea*\Appdata\Microsoft\Windows\Themes and will not update which is a minor problem for me as we update the background daily. As it is not part of the roaming profile I can not use the "exclude directories" section in group policy and have also tried to setup a delete file from %HOMESHARE%\AppData\Microsoft\Windows\Themes etc but still nothing. I am not keen on a logoff script but may have to resort to that at some point. I should add I have desktop wallpaper set in GP to a location on the local machine but it seems to read the one from the appdata first. Anyone out there who can offer a fix or pointer please? Thanks

Debated if I should put this here or in software but figured it was such an iMac specific thing I would have better chances in here (sorry admins if wrong)... I am looking for a trainer who can come to my site and train a member of staff on Final Cut Pro X (Based in Kent). Does anyone have any suggestions for people I can contact at all please? Preferably an Apple certified trainer or a teacher of media would be preferable however the right person with experience of this will be considered too. Thanks all

Do you have 25 clients? You have to have at least 25 clients wanting the KMS key before it starts working (think its to stop small business using KMS)

I know it is reading my command line because if I remove the /Silent then it shows the unpackage progress. This is really winding me up now and have also noticed the Sibelius website only lists cmd support upto 7.1

Yes just tried that now and it still asks for the language settings. I have also tried /LANG=US and =EN-US but that b****y box keeps appearing. 6.2 just worked for me and am surprised this is such a pain.

Hi all, Wonder if a few of you with Sibelius 7.5 could share the command lines you use to deploy it please as no matter what I seem to put I keep getting the language choice prompt appear which is quite annoying. Currently I am using /LSINFO=Servername /Silent as that is more or less what I used for 6.2 which worked perfectly for it that but have added /LANG=ENGLISH and /LANG=English to the 7.2 line (tried before and after LSINFO) and neither get rid of the popup. I believe he means the first run box which insists on asking you to select Chrome as a default browser.

There is no msi in the extracted exe. Sibelius is a pain in the bum for network deployment. I have just bought Sibelius 7.5 (from 6.2) and was hoping the whole LSINFO thing would just work again so we script it during the machine build.

can you test it without the extender? if it works then theres your problem.

remove one of the USB hubs and connect at least one mouse and keyboard directly to the machine. Also one of the posters above has a great point... double check your graphics card is compatible with Server 2012 (A lot of ATI cards are but Nvidia is a little more fussy and can cause issues). Must admit I am running out of ideas after that as I have often just found MP to work fairly smoothly but here are a few last suggestions... -Ensure your power supply is man enough for it. Lack of power to the USB hubs could stop them being recognised. -Sounds silly but try hitting F1 or F2 on your keyboards as that should be the default key to sync the terminals however sounds like you are doing it right.

As above we need a little more info however long story short if you have a physical box then you should have mouse, keyboard and monitor connected to the hardware which will act as your main terminal. Log into that one directly to be able to set the key to press to add other terminals. If its a virtual setup then just RDP into it as a local admin and sort it out.
