I just love teachers who start sentences with the words "What have you done to my?".

I'm not sure about this, but I think the school will have to pay duty on any veg oil it uses as fuel. I know there is an exemption for people who use less then a certian amount of fuel but I think it only applies to private indivisuals. Are you planning to buy clean veg oil or filter used oil?

We have about half a dozen HP 3600ns. Excellent printers, they don't give us any hassle except when they need their carts changing. Look out for HPs cash back deals. We've just saved £150 on one.

Option B, I've tryed using an ADSL modem on the end of 20 meters of telephone extensions and it didn;t work (the extension was fine with a normal phone or old school modem). Another option is to try wireless or one of these home plug doofers.

I got bought a Curry by Vegas, Some fizzy wine from Vegas's boss, beer from the Geography department and some Stellas and a glass in our secret santa. I also got some CDs, some Jeremy Clarkson books, IKEA vouchers and some cash which I'm hoping to spend on a power kite. No socks.

There's a freeware prog called orphan remover that scans the start menu for dead shortcuts and removes them. It can be ran in a quiet mode from a script. Where I used to work for had student accounts set up not to process the all users profile instead all the shortcuts came from the students mandatory profile. We then had orphan remove set to kill the shortcuts for any progs that weren't installed on that particular machine.

You don't need to join the domain to get a DHCP entry. Depending how your network is set up it might be possible for him to plug and get internet access. It also could be something like a printer or access point.

For a moment I though you ment network switches. :? I like your set up, students (sometimes even staff) messing with PCs really bugged me where I used to work. Luckily it's a little more orderly where I am now (Girls Grammer School). If I get time on Monday I'll document how I implemented shutdown and wake up scripts here.

Use wake on lan. I use wol.exe in a batch file, I used to angry IP scanner to gather a list of all the PCs mac addresses. You could set the script up on a server and use sheduled tasks to run it at lesson changes.
