We've got loads of ProCurve 26, and 28 series switches. Utterly bomb proof. I would try and standardise your switches. If you start using any of the managed features it's much easier to be using one brand. Also with the exception of the 1800 series procurve switches can be managed with ProCurver manager. Just one word of warning, HP have bought out 3Com an assimilated their switches into the HP range. However I think they still run 3 Com software, for the sake of standardisation I'd avoid them for now.

I'm increasingly using WPKG to do everything here. It doesn't do background installs, but will run on shutdown which to me is preferable to GPOs which only run on start up.
