I deleted one and renewed the other and nothing seems to have broken (yet). So, I'm just left with this in 'Keychain Access (System)'... don't know what it's for, or if I need it. I'd rather not just create a new one as I don't really know what I'm doing or why... It doesn't have an option to renew and it doesn't appear in the server app under certificates.

We originally went with a Wyze cam to keep an eye on the Greyhounds we rescued and it is really good for that (wired so not a wildlife camera), but ended up being a little bit disappointed in the fact that it will only ever record 12 seconds of video (uploaded to app with notifications on movement/sound etc.) and then you have to wait 5 minutes between recordings before it will record another 12 seconds (bit frustrating sometimes when the incident happens after 12 seconds but in the 5 minutes in-between recordings)... Of course you can then pay extra for the Wyze cam plus subscription to unlock the features, but we didn't really think it was worth it. How does the Ring camera work in this respect?

I don't take any personally (although I suppose I should as my diet is quite poor), I certainly haven't ever felt the need or that my body is lacking anything, but maybe I should... I'm rarely unwell (can't even really remember the last time - but social isolation helps with that I guess - not just during Covid, I mean generally), things heal OK, might take a bit longer than when I was 30... I do occasionally get painful joints, back etc. But nothing long term and the lack of exercise doesn't help, so I could sort myself out in that respect by doing some to get more flexible and lose some weight (just 'Dad bod' size really, but definitely overweight) getting up off the floor if I've been sitting a long time is certainly more effort these days. However, the OH is a few years younger than me and she takes pretty much what has been mentioned: Cod Liver Oil and Glucosamine Sulphate Multivitamin with Iron

Do both (at the same time)... KB5010794 is just a patch to correct certain issues with the KB5009624 monthly update. KB5009624 weighs in at 546.9 MB (as it is the CU). KB5010794 is 81.1 MB (as it is just a patch, so doesn't replace the update).

Then they brought out a patch - KB5010794. On mine this was found in 'Optional' updates, long story short... I ticked both, installed, restarted... all good (so far)!

Covid seems to be on the rise here... Had an email from the Head saying they were meeting this morning to discuss the amount of cases (of children and adults) and what to do about it. Can't see why this should be spiking right now, just before and during/after the holidays maybe, but we've been back over 3 weeks...?

That confused me for a bit... I enjoyed Star Trek Discovery (Picard not so much, but it was watchable) and watched it all so far on Netflix. I often flick through waiting for a new series to appear and I presumed it had not been renewed or was on hold during Covid (I don't keep up with these things obviously). So do I presume that rather than selling it to Netflix for $$$ they are releasing it on their own Paramount+ in the USA and on the free PLUTO TV over here...? Going to be a little controversial here I guess, but I am often turned off by 'big' or 'well-known' actors in things (there are exceptions of course and those actors who have defined a particular role)... I stopped watching Dr. Who when I was about 12 and have never really been attracted back. I've tried to watch it a few times but unfortunately I'm afraid to say that 'made by 'older fans for older fans' sums it up, sets and effects are almost no better than in the 80's or 90's (well a little better but not much considering what is available now) even a target audience of children won't be impressed these days and it could be so much slicker instead of quirkily reminding us of it's quaint BBC history (just my opinion and the reason why I can't watch many British TV dramas, spoilt by too much American TV)... and the actors are not very believable for me or worth investing in. I can never watch Bradley Walsh in anything without expecting him to aside to camera a joke about something (or slip in that an alien reminds him of a particular Chaser) and the same with John Bishop who I expect to throw in a few jokey reminiscences about his childhood from the 'Pool. I'm just not sure who came up with the need for a well known face to be a side-kick... I am not a fan of the current Dr. Who either for similar reasons and it just feels to me they are (over) playing the part and not being the part (difficult I know), but possible for some... I have a similar issue with big name 'voice actors' for movies... I can honestly say that I have never once seen an animated movie purely based on the fact that so and so has voiced a character, some fit just fine or add whatever is needed to a character, but quite a few could (should) have been voices by A.N. Other actor and it wouldn't have impacted the films worth for me.... Anyway, currently watching 'Archive 81' (Sci-Fi/Supernatural/Paranormal/Demonic/Witchcraft/Psychological/Thriller/Horror...ish) on Netflix. Not completely blown away, but so far it seems well worth the time spent. Man given the job of restoring some old video tapes, finds more than he bargained for... Obviously given its subject matter it isn't 'believable', but most of the actors give credible performances. There is a nice undercurrent of 'ethereal menace', no real substantial sub-plots as such and it mostly focusses on the main story and characters. Lots of build up as to the who and why questions... not sure if I'm going to be disappointed with an open-ended, cliff hanger ending (in the expectation of them securing another season).

Anyone placing bets on how long it will be until 'Google Workspace for Education Fundamentals' is no longer free? Asking for a friend...

OK, on SERVER 2012R2 ticked both updates (KB5009624 in 'Important' and KB5010794 in 'Optional') and installed them last night, didn't take any longer than usual. So far 'normal service has been resumed'... Both DCs, no reboots all night and Hyper-V host started the Virtual Machines.

This appears to have drifted out of the collective's consciousness (for now at least)... M$ have kept us busy and distracted with other faulty updates! However, I still maintain that M$ don't see any problem or fault with what they've done and it is just how it is now. My GPO for client machines have the following: Package Point and print - Approved servers = Print Server Point and Print Restrictions - Everything enabled including Print Server FQDN. Both installing and updating = Do not show warning or elevation RestrictDriverInstallationToAdministrators - reg edit = 0 RpcAuthnLevelPrivacyEnabled - reg edit = 0 (this is on both clients and the Print Server - not 100% sure it is necessary on both but I ran out of time for testing and left it as this once everything worked). I think this circumvents all the 'protections' from the previous updates and is pretty much everything that M$ advise not to do, but what are we supposed to do without a proper 'fix' (which I doubt will come as M$ somehow don't see it as broken)...? IIRC - this seemed to work on a brand new fresh Windows install with no drivers in the image, although it was a couple of months ago (feels like a lifetime) now. EDIT: These seem to work for me, but if they don't I also messed about with a couple of machines using another reg edit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Policies\Microsoft\FeatureManagement\Overrides (you need to research the correct number for your Windows 10 version) 3598754956 (( for WINDOWS 10 1809 LTSC)). This worked for a couple of test machines and then for some reason found that recently I haven't needed to use it...

That's got me thinking... I wonder if there is a bird version of that. Our next door neighbour has solar panels (without any kind of bird proofing mesh) and the pigeons seem to love roosting under them. During the summer we are quite often woken up at 4 or 5 a.m. as they seem to have hobnail boots on clattering across the tiles! Also the gutters are full of... (you know what).

I had written quite a long post about religion, war, politics, insurrections, assassinations (all of these have their own conspiracy theories of why they happened), but I bored myself so I have condensed it (yes, this is condensed). The thing is (and I get that there might not be lizard people), but to paraphrase a famous quote, 'just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you'... what I mean is that you can laugh at the seriously ridiculous conspiracy theories, but they have at their core a belief that there are powers in the world that 'control' things on a large scale 'behind the scenes'. That powerful people are (and have always been) using religion, war, politics, insurrection, assassination to guide global changes or on a geo-political scale... even if they aren't lizards! It's not that difficult to look into our recent history and find conspiracy theories about why a certain country might have released a virus (destabilise the western economy or population control), invaded another country to find WMDs (control oil production or stop a certain leader/country being too powerful), or an uprising in a country needing forces from a 'neighbouring country' to be deployed and it just so happens that original country borders another country the 'neighbouring forces' need to be deployed on the border of... and then find out in a 100 years they actually did do it on purpose or it wasn't for the reasons they stated publicly... there are for sure, dark forces amongst us, they might not be the type portrayed in films (although they might be) but we know in our subconscious that it's at least possible (and therefore open to interpretation or exaggeration)... Most of the human race has always need to believe in something, a reason for being here, a higher power (and that by definition must be something intangible, something that cannot be seen or understood)... are some of the theories (aliens) anymore ridiculous than believing in a deity** ? But trying to prove or disprove the existence of something like that is (so far) impossible scientifically... So... back on topic, disproving flat-earth is entirely possible (not just in theory) isn't it? What is difficult is getting them all on a space-ship and firing them out there on their way into the sun, just so they can have the epiphany (not the Jesus version - or maybe it will be, who knows?) before burning to a crisp! **Although science believes that stars are actually our creator (as in the place where our 'elements' were born)... we are stardust... we are golden... so Sun God worship totally justified!

But what's the other half of the story... is it fixed?

Sounds about right if the DC reboots when "Active Directory attributes are not written correctly during a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) modify operation with multiple specific attribute changes" that might include people logging in I guess... Shame I can't get someone to stand in the server room overnight, unplugging the network and plugging it back in... as I was hoping to get this done remotely 'out of hours'.

Maybe that has answered my own question, given the size difference my guess is that it's a patch to the update... So what's the plan, install the update and hope the server stays up long enough to apply the patch...?

Interesting... When checking for updates on my 2012R2, KB5009624 still shows so I guess it doesn't disappear automagically and I will have to disappear it manually. However, I did notice KB5010794 has appeared in my 'optional' updates... OPTIONAL! Yeah optional if you want your (DC, Hyper-V or ReFS) server to function correctly... Now is this a full update or a patch to the update...? KB5009624 = 574.5 MB KB5010794 = 81.0 MB

Think I'm gonna give this one a week or two for all the guinea pigs to test! Strange it mentions Server 2012R2 as needing to get the updates from Microsoft Update Catalog, but says there are Windows Update versions for Windows 7 and Server 2008 SP2...

The other thing is... now I'm in the Server app, I just double click on the previous one and choose 'Renew'...? I wonder why I have 2 certificates in there... must have created a new one at some point rather than renewing the old one...?

Thanks! As far as I know we've never used 'Profile Manager' and I have no idea how to check if any of the current iPads have been 'enrolled' using the Mac-Mini, we haven't used it for that since the very, very early days of iPad deployment (all ASM and Meraki now), how would I check?

I'm not sure if this is a problem or not as we don't use Macs and I have pretty much zero knowledge of how to manage them. Ours literally just sits in the server room and acts as a caching server for iPad iOS updates and occasionally AC2 gets used... I rarely ever look at it but yesterday I went on it to check some details to post on a thread about iPads and AC2, but noticed a lock symbol I'd never seen before in the dock. I double clicked it and it was 'Keychain Access', when it opened I was greeted with this: I'm guessing it's not good but I have no clue what to do about it and don't want to mess anything up or lose access to the device (lock myself out or something) or if it is really important or not...?

Oh no, that was just from the instructions in the link in a post above. I have connected one of our old iPads to the Mac-Mini and fired up AC2 and the wording is slightly different... When ticked it appears to have the same options appear though...

Yeah, I knew that was coming... We do have the Big G and actually a VPN solution in place (for selected staff). However as a student teacher, who won't be here long (and has dubious IT skills) I don't think they will be given access to either of those things. As it is, the only access is to the planning folder and only whilst at school.
