  1. Interesting, but the Google Maps we see is .com However, when I opened an 'Incognito' tab everything worked... I could select the 'Traffic' tab and drop into Street View! Safe Search is still on even in 'Incognito'
  2. Can't help you with most of that... The 'Traffic' layer is not selectable for us, neither is the 'Cycle' layer but I have no reason as to why. However, I have found though to get Street View, what works is to click to select a point on a street (drop a pin) and a pop-up should appear at the bottom of the screen with a 'Street View' image and if you click on that you go into Street View mode... These are similar instructions from when I researched how to get Street View mode on my iPhone... Unfortunately Google Workspace seems to interact with the rest of Google in mysterious, undocumented and (as you've found) unsupported ways... There might be something in the settings, but I've never had enough time to go through every setting... For instance I have this... /forums/cloud-services/235357-google-search-results-chrome-about-result-error-403-a.html No idea why and nobody else seems to get it either (or at least nobody has ever replied to that post)...
  3. Haha yes! Unfortunately it was only our Bursar and not our Business Manager... for some reason they've always been two separate staff member roles. Maybe that's one reason why we can't afford new kit... Edit: Also I don't want to be as bad as the staff, going to them complaining about my 'old computer' (even if they believed it was) and be the one adding to the very thing we are complaining about! Also the actual computer is an HP Z440 workstation (Xeon/32GB/SSD) so not too bad.
  4. Had something similar recently... Our bursar came down to my office and commented on how old my 'computer' was (of course she was referring to my monitors). Admittedly I do envy those who post photos on here of their triple 26" widescreen set-up, but I do ok with my 'hand me down' dual monitors where I've replaced them with better ones for the staff. Although I guess the HannStar (Hanns-G HU196D) one does look a bit like what someone 20 years ago thought looked cool and futuristic...
  5. Ah OK, my bad then... maybe it's changed don't know where I heard that, but I'm sure I remember that being a 'thing' at one point! Anyway you are right, just opened up Edge and signed-in to Google Workspace, went to YouTube and... advert! It's probably that we have uBlock Origin installed then in Chrome.
  6. I was under the impression that if you were signed into your school Google Workspace account that you wouldn't get adverts... is this wrong? I've just clicked on about 10 videos and wasn't served a single advert... which is unheard of if you are just normally clicking on videos when you you are using a 'normal' account (or aren't signed in).
  7. Ah this might clear something up then as I saw on the quote 'Radio/Radio' or 'Radio/IP'... Dual path makes sense as the Site Agent has said the engineer for the 3rd party installers reckons the radio (cellular) option can be a bit prone to false alarms/signal dropping (obviously Site Agent doesn't want regular 3 a.m. false alarm calls). Not sure if having two cellular paths makes a difference if the general signal in the area drops though...
  8. Could be lots of things unfortunately... In contracts 'View Contracts' do you see anything that is 'Active'...? You might be logged into an 'old' VLSC account (or one that doesn't have permission to view Volume Licensing) although as you said in your OP you can see Windows 7 and Server 2012 in there it's probably old/unused as I can't see anything now in VLSC it only points me to MAC. You might not have Volume Licensing anymore... I do read posts on here sometimes of people buying licenses by other means, or relying on the upgrade rights of whatever was installed on the machine originally, or an OEM license sticker (don't know how old your machines are) or the BIOS license key. Shame it sounds like you didn't get any sort of handover from the previous role holder. Do you know any information about a reseller maybe (as you have to go through one for VL I believe)?
  9. Actually it looks like I found an easier way in that thread! Your Products > Volume Licensing > View Contracts > Three Dots next to appropriate 'contract' > View Product keys This also shows 'activations' and license count. Good job I ask nearly everything here, so I can come back and find it when I forget...
  10. Caught me out as well the first time I used it! /forums/licensing-questions/235894-mvlsc-vs-m365-admin-center.html#post2019148
  11. Not quite as they describe here, but it's close... https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/commerce/licenses/product-keys-faq?view=o365-worldwide#how-to-find-product-keys-in-the-microsoft-365-admin-center On the main home page of VLSC you can click 'Find Product Keys' this should take you to a page where it gives you a link to click for the new MAC. Once you are in MAC click 'Billing' and then 'Your Products' on the left hand side. Then 'Volume Licensing' (somewhere in the middle of the page). Scroll down a bit to 'Products and Services' and underneath that should be 'View Downloads and Keys'. Type in the search box something like 'Server 2022' and from the list next to the product you want there are 3 little dots ... Click those to view the product page and choose 'Keys' from the selection near the top of the page. Then click on the 'two pages' symbol in the middle to copy the key to your clipboard...
  12. HAHA! I don't know! I just came looking for answers, not more questions... Seriously though, I'm reasonably sure we don't have voIP, as far as I know there is a box in the cupboard and I think that ends up going out through a BT line somewhere... However, I also thought Redcare required us to have an exclusive (copper) line through BT. Could be wrong as I'm not directly involved, but that's the gist I got through various conversation over the years. I mean it might not be just a case of sticking the cable into the box in the cupboard. As I said, I thought Redcare/BT require a direct line (?), which makes sense, no point in having it routed through a different providers network (or even our own), especially something as important as an alarm line... which is what the Trust that @Oaktech works for stipulates.
  13. Yes vaguely... I don't have an analogue 'land line' phone and haven't for many, many years (I also don't have any elderly relatives with an alarm linked to it), so I didn't take a lot of notice. Also I don't have anything to do with phones or alarms on site etc. These are solely the Site Services and Business Managers purview and they have 3rd party contractors to deal with it all. I was purely looking looking for advice so I can help (and to be fair I wanted to be 'in the know' as some part of it will inevitably end up landing on my desk - especially if they go IP)...
  14. So for the 'network' option we have to figure in that if ever a switch blew, had a power cut or got misconfigured = no alarm? Also I guess you have it on a separate VLAN?
  15. Ok thanks... But lets back up and eli5 please! The alarm panel gets a 4G sim in a cellular modem with external antenna - this is 'Radio to Radio' I presume? As in effectively the alarm panel makes a mobile phone call? IP backup or 'Radio to IP' is the alarm panel physically plugged into a phone socket of a voIP or other system...? As we don't have voIP we have a 'traditional' type of box in a cupboard (3rd party provider) which then I presume ends up on a BT line somewhere...
  16. My Site Agent has just come to me with a quote from Chubb security to change our Redcare monitored alarm over from the BT analogue line to digital... Not sure why he came to me but there was a worrying line on the quote stating both 'Radio to Radio' or 'Radio to IP'. Now I don't have anything to do with the phones or the alarm system, but I do remember something in the news a while ago with lots of alarm companies saying that elderly people with panic/personal alarms are going to be in trouble as they all use traditional landline/copper and BT are going to switch this off in the near future. So, I guess it's part of that but I don't have a clue how to advise or whether it means I'll be involved at some point. I 'think' we rent a separate dedicated copper line directly from BT as opposed to using our phone provider, but I'm not sure if we've had any direct contact from them on alternatives... Anyway on the alarm side of things 'Radio to Radio' or 'Radio to IP' I presume 'Radio to IP' means plug it onto our existing phones? Any help would be appreciated!
  17. Interesting.... You went with DesktopApplicationID="Microsoft.Office.WINWORD.EXE.15" /> for the Office programs directly calling the .EXE Is that the bullet proof/accepted best practise now? I understand that 2019/2021 are both '15' so it will only break if you install '16'... We originally went with DesktopApplicationLinkPath="%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Word.lnk" So as long as the shortcut doesn't change its name it works OK (though it did change from 'Word 2016' to 'Word' hence why it broke) but which I guess might be more prone to failure if the shortcuts don't populate there for some reason? All I did was edit the XML to remove the '2016' and it messed up the whole thing! Also interesting is our H:\ drive used the same syntax as yours (though we don't map H:\ to a 'Documents' sub-folder as they have redirected desktop and 'user' folders)... but appears broken. We did move file server recently but they can still access their drive OK, so I guess not a permissions thing (total server move, name and everything so not a mapping issue either).
  18. Ah yes, I'm old enough to remember the 'good old days' of a manual clock in card! Where they could I guess use the old management maxim 'if you can't measure it, you can't manage it' Of course they used it to dock our pay in 15 minute increments... 1 minute late = 1/4 of an hour lost pay, 16 minutes late = 1/2 an hour etc. We have Paxton here, but I haven't ever been asked or needed to scrutinise the clock in/out times of the staff so can't help you with the reporting. We also now have EntrySign which might have what you need, but is probably a little overkill.
  19. Thanks! It's weird really because it's been rock solid for years and I haven't touched it (haven't needed to as we're LTSC and so nothing really changes). So I guess it's really thrown me that just changing the text in the xml from 'Word 2016' to 'Word' with no other changes made it break. From then on I think I just made things worse and then the 'This PC' (not 'File Explorer' because I hate it) breaks the whole thing and the Home Drive tile refuses to display anymore!
  20. I haven't looked at this for a long time as I originally set it up and as it worked OK so left it well alone... However, as I just pushed out a new Office version I noticed all the shortcuts were broken (obviously). I didn't think it would take much to sort out, but I changed them in the XML and noticed it pushed everything else out of place for some reason. Anyway I finally got it all back together and tested it out only to find it completely broken! So I took it to the basics and added back section by section and it works up until I put 'This PC' back in, it doesn't seem to matter what I put in there it either won't create the tile or completely breaks it... I'm not sure if the location it references isn't accessible by the users account (I can't check as it's heavily locked down), or if it has changed (%appdata% or %allusersprofile%). I also used to have a tile for the user home drive, but can't remember how that worked either as it also doesn't now...
  21. Got through to VLSC again this morning only to be told I have to give the details to them and they will make a case for escalation... So I guess raise a ticket which might get picked up at some point, apparently could take 48 hours, maybe longer... Called our reseller to see if they had a 'secret' phone number to get through on but they didn't (apparently they have to ring the same numbers as the rest of us) and they also said they couldn't do it on our behalf either. So.... I call MS back... not sure if I chose a different number from the menu, but at least I could understand the support operative this time and they understood my issue and after taking some details resolved it with a couple of clicks! I hate MS licensing (it's so complicated I'm sure most of their support staff don't understand it either), but I also hate how hit and miss getting any support is... Interestingly I checked on our VLSC admin portal for the actual activation numbers/limit and 'Office LTSC Professional Plus 2021' is the only version that has 50 as it's activation limit, all the other versions (2019, 2016, 2013 & 2010) have a limit of 100 (and looking back through all our previous contracts Office has always had a 100 activation limit)...
  22. Was going to post in the 'annoying things' thread but then remembered this one... Had half an hour spare at the end of the day, so decided to get a job done that I ran out of time for in half-term. Started the install off on an ICT suite and let it run while I got on with other stuff. 15 minutes later I checked a few as they'd all finished, but found after a few they'd stopped activating stating we'd run out of licenses... Thought I'd have time to ring the MVLC 'hotline' and have it all sorted in a few minutes... however, it wouldn't connect me from the school phone as apparently we aren't in the UK.... so called on my mobile and after waiting nearly 20 minutes I apparently made a wrong choice on the multiple 'press number to speak to...' choices! I explained the problem but couldn't really understand what the call centre person was saying, only caught the end of it, something about it being the 'activation line' and to call the correct number, then "thank you for calling Microsoft, goodbye"... EDIT: Just to mention it appears most of our product licenses are set at our FTE amount. Admittedly I haven't looked at it for a long time, but I don't ever remember it being so strict before...?
  23. I've often wondered about the CRUD setting and never really got round to working out which is best, however I would just say that all my drives are mapped with 'CREATE' (and I have 'RECONNECT' ticked)... I don't really know the reasons or mechanics behind the process, it's just what I've always done. I just figured if it lost the connection somehow it would help...? When I did research it I mainly came up with the following: GPO C.R.U.D (Create, Replace, Update, Delete) Create – If N doesn't exist, then create it. ... Replace – Remove N if already exists, and create a new N with these settings. ... Update – If N exists it will be updated with the new settings. ... Delete – If that drive mapping exists, it will be removed. I referred to this website when I wanted to remind myself with a fairly detailed and yet easy to understand explanation: https://www.itpromentor.com/gp-crud/ So therefore I presumed 'CREATE' to be the best option unless doing something like migrating. I figured once the drive is mapped with 'CREATE' it will never touch it again, seeing that it exists and then does nothing else. If however for some reason it gets deleted/disconnected it will create it again. All the other options seem like they will constantly do something to the connection, so only to be used when the drive mapping needs amending/adjusting/replacing. 'REPLACE' being the worst of these options, constantly deleting and replacing the connection at Group Policy processing times. UPDATE being the choice for changing the settings of an existing connection. As for OP I could possibly see 'REPLACE' (constantly deleting and creating) configured with a 'reconnect' command being able to produce some sort of error (way above my pay grade to know anything deeper about the code/process though) although you might think if it did, the 'RECONNECT' tick box should be greyed out when choosing the 'REPLACE' option.
  24. You didn't test a Duracell 'Baby-Secure" one then? Pretty sure you'd be able to 'taste the difference' with that one... "The battery has a ring-shaped layer which has a bad taste to discourage swallowing from babies and toddlers. We are using Bitrex®, the bitterest substance in the world commonly used in household products to prevent ingestion. The bitter taste layer on the Duracell cell is non-toxic and completely harmless if consumed." https://www.duracell.co.uk/technology/lithium-coin-battery-safety/
  25. OK going to confess I changed the battery and the remote paired first time... The old battery still reads 3.24 so I don't know what the problem was!
