I am looking for a piece of software that will sync timetables from SIMS to G-Suite calendars and Office 365 calendars (We are mid migration). The following companies are the ones I am aware of but just after finding if there are any other options. Salamander looks good but I only need the timetable sync none of the other parts as we are an RM school and probably going to have Unify installed. Do groupcall offer a solution? Our staff are using a website which they are able to access fine. When students try they get a java error. When the staff access it, they get the following prompt and can click run and the application runs in the browser. When students access it they don't get the message and it errors. I'm guessing this will be a GPO blocking java for students but cannot find where it is. Any clues? Thanks

Typically late Friday afternoon one of the PSUs on my SIMS server decides to die! We're limping along on the redundant PSU currently but where would you recommend to get hold of a quick spare? It's 499250-001 that I'm after. Done a quick Google search but most of the results are the USA. We are only keeping the server another year so don't mind a refurb. Just had a thought about GDPR and helpdesks. If we have to do an audit of all information where it goes which third parties are involved etc. Are IT helpdesks an area that may slip through the net? If a member of staff forwards a document with student information to the helpdesk then this is putting it at the third parties mercy. Does this mean we will also only be able to use helpdesk providers who are GDPR compliant? Is there an easy way to find out if the likes of Spiceworks, Freshdesk etc are? Would it be worth us setting up somewhere on edugeek where we can have a list of third party companies and a link to prove they are GDPR compliant?

We currently use Backup Assist as our backup software. We have it mirrored across the site to another NAS. I want to start backing up to a cloud destination but am finding the costs too complicated to figure out. Is anyone able to give some real world examples of cost per amount of storage? Do you backup every file on your network to the cloud destination? How long do your cloud backups go back? Do you archive your data online? Backup Assist supports Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services as backup destinations. Is there any major reason to choose one over the other? I was looking at this calculator for the Azure Cool Blob storage but again not sure I am inputting it right. If one round of backups totalled 5TB and I wanted to be updating it every night with a couple of GB changes. 1. How do I work out the monthly cost and 2. Yes, we are. It is going to form part of a big rollout and migration from Office 365 to G-Suite. Staff who join the pilot will have their email migrated to G-Suite and be issued a chromebook. Email will be delivered to G-Suite and Office 365 so if there is a problem all their emails are still on Office 365 too. Thanks@rogerdnixon didn't know that about Jamboard! Already installed and having a play. Loved the look of the hardware but not affordable for us but the software looks promising.

We are going to being a Chromebook pilot programme with teaching staff where we offer them the opportunity to get a new Chromebook but it will replace their teaching machine in their classroom. They can use it at home but will need to connect it to the projector in their room to use during the day. What I would like to know is what apps/extensions would you recommend I install ready for them. e.g. in terms of SMART Notebook alternatives, and any other useful extensions you use for your teaching staff that may be useful. Also have any of you run a similar pilot? Or have a different way of piloting them you would recommend? Thanks

We have lightspeed filtering via a lightspeed rocket with schoolsbroadband. We are going to be implementing a large number of Chromebooks over the coming months. Is anyone else using Chromebooks and lightspeed? How do you track the internet traffic against their login? Thanks

Is there a quick way or piece of software that can tell me what device is connected to a particular port on a switch? Basically, we have a situation where a port has had its label removed and I need to know where it goes back to on the switch. Would love a piece of software to tell me the IP of mac address of each device connected to which port on the switches. Cheers

I am trying to find a way to see a live list of who is logged into sims currently. Does anyone know if this is possible in SIMS or within SOLUS 3? I found Focus > System Manager > User Access Logs but it seems to just show everyone who has logged in at some point on this day. Cheers

Sorry to jump in but what are you using to migrate? Just the built in tool in the admin console of g suite?

I am trying to setup Chrome remote desktop app between my chromebook and work computer. When I open the app and click share it downloads the installer. I run it and it opens and then closes with no error but when I go back to the chrome remote desktop app it keeps telling me to install the msi before continuing. I have tried on Windows 7 and Windows 10. Anyone had similar or know of a fix? Thanks

Hi Guys, We are looking to buy some staff Chromebooks and are after something 11" with a flip design that can run Android apps. Any of you using a device you would recommend? I have looked at the Acer R11 and the ASUS C101 (due to be released). Preferably want to spend under £300 per device. Thanks

Anyone trialed this on shared machines? Or with student computers? Before I got accepted was wanting to use this for all students in the school on the student windows computers. Thanks
