SIMS would be fairly stupid if it *didn't* have these validation measures.

Hi all, I transfer the actual KS4/5 results from their native aspects into my own aspects (for various reasons) - and therefore us my own result sets... In the past I've always used "Summer 2015" for example, and change them every year. But elsewhere in SIMS, eg report grades, I always use "Summer Year 11" for example which therefore don't need changing... Does anyone else use a generic result set for actual results, eg "Summer Results Year 11" or use year based ones? Inclined to think I should switch ! Cheers T

Frankly there shouldn't be any argument about this - they belong in section 4 and section 4 only. That's the pupil contact details, section 5 is family. If you mess around with that then things like inTouch and anything else that talks to SIMS will be completely and utterly useless.

We're not one for posting much but whole-school mailouts are fairly common. Does anyone send them in a way that adds them to the pupils linked docs as a general letter, and as such can be pulled into INSIGHT's notices function for parents? Or does anyone use another method to push noticed to parents in INSIGHT? Cheers Tom

Hi guys, I have just found out that we're making teachers absent in cover, in order that they're not used. For example there might be a few teachers who need time off cover to get on with marking etc, so we need to "unfree" them. Obviously making them absent is not good at all - so I need to find a way to do it... Can I ask what you guys do? Also - for things like sports day - we require staff to supervise on the field, or there might be occasions/events where we need staff to help out. They need to be attached to these events so they're not freed up for cover. How do you add them to these events? Currently we close the rooms and add them there but it automatically adds them as an exam invigilator and causes confusion on the cover slips! Cheers Tom

Hi all, just a quick question - does everyone have this Programme of Study for KS1/KS2 (and any other provision for EYFS)? The version we have only caters to NC Yr 7-9 - is it something we haven't purchased, perhaps? Capita say on their website: "Schools will now have access to a brand new Programme of Study area within SIMS Assessment, where teachers can review and assess against the entire National Curriculum Programmes of Study for every subject across KS1 and KS2" Currently we only have KS3. Thank you - yes I did - and still no shared staff - I managed it my using GROUPS instead of classes - just a bit more work needed at the end in excel - shame because it's a relatively straightforward requests - expecially since all classes have a year attached to them (which isn't a selectable field) Cheers T

Often it's useful to generate a list of all teachers of a specific year group. I can do this using reports on SIMS. However it doesn't bring through every teacher. When a class is shared by more than one member of staff, it seems only to bring through 1 teacher - I think the one identified as "main teacher" in NOVA (it might be "main supervisor" or simlar, I can't recall) We know that's necessary to do because the name of the teacher on the report should be the teacher that teaches the most, which is why we identify them as such in NOVA. But this might be the reason why we can't get all supervisors of a class on a report. Even if I reverse the report and ask for teachers of a class, they still don't come through. Any thoughts? I've seen now that they are reflected in the timeline but not a different colour - that would be AMAZING if we could do that; is it possible?!

Hi @PhilNeal - we're having issues with staff and their ability to check room changes - may I pick you up on your point here (admittedly from 2013!) regarding the timeline and room changes; are room changes which are done in cover illustrated on the timeline? If so are they supposed to be a different colour? Cheers T

I got quite far with it - doing something similar to you - the ext. ID I created using the date and time, then intend to increment +1 - I'm assuming no other IDs will come anything near that. Trickier to include gradesets, though, and I got stuck trying to save the file back as XML! I think proper provision to do this in SIMS would be useful.

When will there be an app available for phones? Being able to take registers on a phone, and add conduct seems a logical step.

Can all of this be done on mobiles/tablets?

I take it since people were more interested in WHY the OP was doing this - no one knows HOW? I'm looking to create 100+ aspects I have designed in Excel and would like to do the same.
