[sims] InTouch - Message Type Defaults - Auto Forward
tben2505 replied to tben2505's topic in MIS Systems
Seems it is indeed the replies, folks. Cheers T -
Hi all, Does anyone know what this does? There's an option on all message types to "auto forward" to an email address.. Does this mean if I added "[email protected]" there, that when sending, say, a pupil general message, the replies from the parents go to [email protected]? Or the original message is simply forwarded (which seems a bit pointless)... Cheers, T

Yes I'm aware of that - and as I said that's not an issue for us. I was wondering what he meant with 8.5-1 and History.
-
Not sure what you mean with History - have I missed something? And with Maths it's fine as we'll only be recording 9-1 from Sep 16, where both Y10 AND Y11 will be doing it.

I have just discovered "GRADE SET VERSIONS" which means you don't have to make new aspects, amend individual reports, or change templates. I'm pretty sure this will work as I did a test in a template; and I can't see why it won't work in an individual report: On your gradeset, where it says VERSIONS, click NEW This allows you to add a new date range where a new set of grades will "take over" from the old ones, and subsuquently be applied to any aspect that uses that grade set. So with one change to my GCSE Grade set (currently, of course, A*-U) to a new "version" of 1-9 - everything is sorted! I'm surprised no one else has brought this up? Though I've never seen it before - perhaps it's a new addition.
-
New aspects and I have to adjust templates too - annoyingly have lots of templates with GCSE aspects integrated with Yellis and formulas, so it's not as quick as just creating the new aspects. Grr. - - - Updated - - - As an independent school we don't need most of these resources - thanks though!
-
Since most subjects will be moving to this in September for YEAR 10, how are people adapting their templates/reports etc...? I can see no easier way than to create new aspects to house these new grades (since existing aspects are associated with incompatible grade sets) Anyone done any work on this yet - or waiting until the summer hols!? T

Do you know if staff can staff take registers/record conduct/assessment (or any of these) via their phone using the mobile SLG website?
-
Ah yes THERE it is. Cheers
-
How is that done out of interest? Seem to have forgotten!
-
Only issue with our school is that the admission process is still extremely lively right up until day 1 in September - so exporting the year groups in the curriculum area for the HODs to set would become out of date quite quickly! Hm, I'll think of something! Cheers guys!

[sims] Automatically admit pupils from Admissions

Yeah that's where it can be done manually - I wondered where this tick box was? -

Good point! Any idea where that tick box is!? -
Hi guys, Just wondering what you do in terms of a new academic year, and how you collect from HODs/HOYs the new classes for your pupils (including all the new starters)? I have previously maintained a private google doc with a sheet for each year, and columns for subject requiring sets, but that was before we had SIMS - is there a better way in SIMS? Cheers T
-
Hi guys Just curious, if an applicant has been recorded and ACCEPTED as the status, do they need to be manually admitted, or will they just appear on roll on the date attached to the admission group? There is a place where manual admission can be done (Focus > Admission > Admit Applications) and wondered why that's there? Cheers T

Raised a call- they default to "No Owner" and only assessment user groups permissioned people can see them, as suspected. However - the workaround I'll use is changing the effective membership date on the marksheets to pull through anyone who has been assigned into that curriculum/pastoral structure, thus enabling, just, the relevant people to see the new intake groups.
-
I did try it and the group has no name next to it; is listed under "No owner" Cheers, will raise a ticket!
-
Hey folks We would like to add data to our admission groups (entry exams etc) I'm just wondering if when I assign a template to such a group - who can see this marksheet, and can the people who see them be changed anywhere? Cheers T
-
I thought it was rather ambitious!
-
Thanks for that @bobsmith, - but the half termly series doesn't filter by that half term specifically when adding to the points; bringing in as it does, pupils with points accumulated from previous terms :/ Try it - find a kid who has only got, say, 3 points in one half term, and see if you can isolate them in a group...?!
-
Indeed - so is it possible in Discover to create a group that houses pupils with X amount of X Behaviour types (per term)?
-
Hi folks I'm aware that in Discover one can create a discover group - and when a pupil enters or leaves that group - the owner(s) of that group can be emailed. This is particularly useful for pupils who are in a % attendance group for example. However, I'm looking to get more - and I wonder if anyone knows of a way to do this... We would like an alert sent to a custom staff member(s) when a pupil gets x numeber of y behaviour incidents in a term. Eg, Mr Smith gets an email when Barry has had 2 "Homework" behaviour incidents issued to him, this term. Ambitious, I know - but wondered if Discover could do it? Cheers all, T

[sims] Sims Report in Word/Excel changes date format
tben2505 replied to Chunks_'s topic in MIS Systems
This is annoying but it's easy to fix, just select the column and replace the spaces with forward a forward slash " " to "/" then they convert to date automatically. I came across this thread as I thought there might have been a fix as I want staff to run reports and filter by dates without having to do this themselves. Cheers all T -
Hi guys I trialled snagit's latest software but the quality is very bad - and after trialling a few more I'm not at a loss as to which is the best - have you and ideas? I want to do vids of SIMS which is quite detailed and small at times, so the quality needs to be good/ability to zoom in when filming perhaps.... Cheers all T
-
Thanks Phil; I'm leaning towards the behaviour route - these would be assigned using the teacher app too.
