No idea why but my classes screen is blank in options online so I cant populate groups in solution editor since there aren't any classes to actually populate. Pic attached. I've set another school in our trust up yesterday with no issues at all, but our school is just blank on this screen and its never been like this in previous years so not sure what I'm doing differently if anything. Clicking generate classes or add classes does nothing. Changing the status of the dataset does nothing either. Any help appreciated.

Still doesn't work with the ? It's not a "class" it has an issue with. There aren't any duplicate class names. It's the group name being the same it has the issue with, so having a 7WA in the core block and a 7WA in the humanities block. But then no idea why it is OK with having a 7WA in the PE block. It's so frustrating.

Did you solve this as I am having the exact same issue and it's driving me nuts!

I am getting a duplicate group names issue and I'm not sure why. This is a photo of the blocks. https://ibb.co/pLmmSSp This is a photo of the error report. https://ibb.co/sQQspKF Now the help page (photo here: https://ibb.co/xM4F2ZG) says that it should only be an issue in any one of 3 scenarios, and all 3 is if there are classes in the same subject in the other blocks. Which ours doesn't have. So I'm not sure why it's bringing it up as an error. And more so, if it has an issue with the humanties and core blocks, why doesn't it have an issue with the PE block as that also has the same group name. If I delete maths and science out the core block the error goes away. Is this a glitch that needs a patch (if so does anyone know what patch to ask for) or am I missing something???

That's way too much faff just for the sake of a one off period I think. I'll leave it and just manually write on all the cover slips the times etc.

Does anyone know if there are any good VBA courses for Excel in the North West? They need to be fairly cheap too (we're talking under £250) as the school budget is teeny as is every school's budget at the moment. I've investigated online but they all look too expensive so I was wondering if anyone could recommend one at least...

I think I'll give it a go. What have I got to lose? If I don't finish it, I don't finish it, it's free so I've not lost anything.

@Joanne I love the idea of getting into this. My husband is a computer science teacher so could potentially help a bit more if I was to get stuck on a topic or not fully understand something. I have access to scratch and python etc at school but not at home. Is this software easy to get hold of?

Hi there. I've been timetabling and doing cover for 10 years now and I think I already know the answer but thought I'd ask anyway. Our school regularly has an early lunch when events are on which means the times of lessons on cover, and the cover slips are wrong as it is not what is timetabled on a normal day Our normal day is as follows period 4: 12:20 - 13:20 lunch: 13:20 - 14:00 period 5: 14:00 - 15:00 When we have an early lunch day it is as follows: lunch: 12:20 - 13:00 period 4: 13:00 - 14:00 period 5: 14:00 - 15:00 If I wanted to change these times as a one off, is the only way of doing this to change the cycle in Nova T6 and transfer the cycle, then the timetable to sims and then apply it and link it up with lesson monitor again (ie set the first day it applies etc)? Then change it all back again for the following day? I wish they could have an option in cover to change times. I'd only have to alter the period 4 times from 12:20 - 13:20 to 13:00 - 14:00. At the moment on Friday I need to cover people from 13:30. This is half way through period 4 since we are doing an early lunch that day, but on cover I have to do it starting at 12:50 as that is the time that halfway through period 4 is actually timetabled (if I did it from 13:30 - 14:00 it would come up with no cover as that is when lunch would normally fall). It's a pain when booking cover, plus all the cover slips print with the wrong times on for external supply staff and it just causes me a general headache. Am I right in thinking that there's bog all I can do about it unless I want to go faffing around with the cycle? I could do that but it's not worth the messing about for one day only.

Are there likely to be any similar positions arising in the North West of England?

I did manage to get it to show the room changes for cover (I remember that we didn't find out why it stopped showing them in the first place, perhaps it was due to a sims update, we'll never know). It was 12 months ago now though so I'm not sure I can remember what I did. I'm sure it was a tick box somewhere. Let me have a look at work tomorrow or Friday and I'll let you know....

When I have done room changes in cover, they are not showing on the staff member's timeline on their homepage. I have moved one teacher out of A11 and into S15. On her timeline, the A11 has disappeared but it doesn't show any room at all now. When she goes into the bit where she selects her class to do the register (where it gives you a timeline just for that day) it does show up there it says A11 -> S15. Is there a setting or anything where I can get it to show up on the week's timeline on their homepages? It's probably just a tick box somewhere. Any help would be appreciates as staff don't check the cover list for room changes so they are being missed.

When I covered staff, the lesson that was being covered always used to disappear from their timeline and appear on the timeline for whoever is covering (ie a cover supervisor). However lately something's changed and I don't know what. The lesson still appears on the staff member's timeline. I've got someone out this afternoon asking why hasn't she been covered, but she has, it's just not disappearing from her timeline. Another problem I have (the same problem) is that some of our cover supervisors have timetabled lessons. Occasionally I need to remove them from these (I put external supply on their normal timetabled lesson) and put the cover supervisor on something else. In the past, their timetabled lesson disappeared from their timeline and their new cover lesson appeared in its place. Now however, they both show on the timeline and it shows as a clash. Has some configuration setting been changed and if so does anyone know how to put it back??? It's causing me issues and staff keep moaning to me!
