Hi all Scenario: Some users have installed Google Chrome on their workstations, the install has set Google Chrome as the default browser. We want IE11 as the default browser and this is set through GPO. When IE11 is set as the default browser and a user clicks a link (e.g. in an email, shortcut on desktop) they receive an error which states "Class not Registered". Users can open IE11 fine by using using it's normal shortcut. If I go into IE11 as a user who is experiencing the issue and reset the settings, the problem goes away until a reboot occurs, then it comes back (even when Chrome is no longer installed). If I uninstall Chrome, the problem persists. If I create a new profile for a user, the problem goes away. The problem I am now facing is that I cannot create a new profile for a particular user who has this problem, I need to find another way of solving this. There must be a file/setting within a user's profile which is causing the problem. I'm posting out of desperation, I've tried everything I can find online and I'm getting nowhere, can anyone offer any suggestions?

Yes, both. I've enabled the rest of those policies and it's fixed the issue. Now clicking the button does nothing Thanks for the help

Yes, that policy is already enabled.

Students cannot access Internet Options by clicking Settings > Internet Options inside IE11, this is enforced by GPO. They can however access it via the "Change Settings" button on this page: This page is presented when students try and access any blocked https site; twitter, facebook etc. Does anyone know how I can prevent complete access to Internet Options via GPO? TIA

We use Impero, we've had it less than 6 months and it's really impressed us and SLT. It's caught quite a few issues such as the example above (not all extremism related, quite a few other safeguarding issues too).

This is now solved I found that those accounts which were being asked to register had data in the 'Telephone Number' field on their account in AD, those that were auto-registering did not. I confirmed this by removing data in that field on an account that didn't work previously.
-
I've narrowed this down a bit; SSO is working for everyone, the issue seems to be with the auto-registration, some users are registered automatically but most are not. I cannot find any correlation between those that are being registered and those that aren't, I don't see any common themes. Can anyone offer any insight as to where to look? Apache logs? PHP logs? I'm clueless on that side of things.

Hi all I'm setting up OSTicket on a Windows Server 2012 VM, running WAMP. I have the LDAP and HTTP Auth plugins installed, yesterday they were working fine, users could hit the helpdesk page and they would get automatically logged in which is exactly as I want it to be. Today, this isn't working, only for users who have already logged into OSTicket previously, anyone who hasn't is being asked to register which is not wanted. I've looked on the OSTicket forums, they're horrible to use, the search is useless and for some reason I am unable to post a thread and ask for help there. Does anyone have OSTicket set up like this, with SSO and auto-registration of users who may be able to offer some help/pointers? Thanks in advance, I hope this it the correct section, it seemed the closest.

It's more about thinking outside of the box. In my experience a lot of people drink because everyone else drinks, they go on holiday to certain places because their friends do, they buy their clothes from the same shop and go to the same pub every friday night. I broke away from that about 5 years ago (I'm 25 for reference) and I've experienced some amazing things because of it, a lot of my friends say "I wish I could do that", they can but they choose not to. Don't be a sheep! I hope I didn't come across as saying those things are wrong, that's not what I meant. I mean that there's no set rule saying we have to, it's not a necessity. I realise it's a lot of fun for a lot of people, the OPs post gave me the impression that he feels that he has to do these things and is being swept along by them.

Who says I have to? I choose not to. Halloween, I ignore it because it's an American holiday for children, bonfire night, I go to some local high point and watch everyone else's displays for free, christmas we hand-make gifts (last xmas we made some rather fantastic blackberry liquour), boxing day we tend to go for a walk, new years eve we might have some friends over or we're with family. Don't let society dictate your life.

Not really... You're choosing how to spend your disposable income, none of the above are "essentials". Your post reminds me of a friend of mine who complains he's always skint, when I point out he spends ~£50/week on cigs and £20 a night in the pub, he won't have any of it. After food/bills I spend very little every month, I've learnt to cut out unnecessary items, I don't buy into the latest tech/gadgets, expensive clothes (those I do buy are related to hobbies such as hiking/mountain biking) and will last years. As a result I've gone from saving next to nothing to putting £400/month away into an ISA and as a result have saved £4k in 11 months. I still do all of the "things" I did before.

We only found out about this IN an exam yesterday morning, there was no communication from them to say it was changing. It caused chaos for us as the accounts we use to log into the machines for exams don't have privileges to install plugins/programs. I asked ECDL for a diagnostics account, this was used yesterday to test all of the PCs before the exam, there were no issues. It only became clear afterwards that the diagnostics platform is still on Java, not the new plug-in so we saw no issues. It's only the live platform that they've changed Kind of defeats the purpose of a test account.

Nope, we're mostly cashless; catering and school trips but things like revision guides, school ties, lockers etc are cash (although can be done on the cashless systems too).

Impero seems to be uninstalling Flash from all of our PCs :/ We had patch management enabled, I'd quickly set it up during summer but didn't get a proper chance to look at it in detail, at a quick glance it looked like it was doing what it should. Fast forward to the start of term and I had many teachers telling me Flash player wasn't installed in their IT suites. Upon reinstalling Flash manually we found that it had vanished again within a few days. Looking at the event logs of the affected PCs I can see MsiInstaller running and removing Flash but I cannot tell what's sending this instruction. I've come to the conclusion it's Impero because it's only effecting PCs on which we have the Impero client installed. I have since disabled the Patch Management feature in Impero Server but it seems that it is still removing Flash installs, some of the rooms I installed Flash in this morning have already had it removed again. This is causing a nightmare across the school as many websites (rightly or wrongly) depend on Flash to function. I'm a bit desperate, I can't get through to Impero support, can anyone here offer any suggestions to prevent Impero from removing Flash short of disabling Impero all together? Thanks in advance

If you call them they will provide a test account, I got one set up today. Call BCS on 01793 417 530 and tell them you need a test account for ET2, they had someone call me back who set me up with an account within the hour. I'm now stuck finding out why Java is disabled in the browser (IE11) Good luck!

I was just looking for this, thanks!

It does and I think it only exacerbates the situation, someone in one camp reads or watches a video and then something similar happens to them out on the roads, they then feel fully justified to unleash all of their anger frustration on the poor sole who happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm a cyclist, I don't commute by bike but do ride on the roads often, it's clear to see as both a driver and a cyclist that people from both sides are at fault, there isn't a right side and a wrong side, each situation is different. I think what can be said with certainty is that the general public need better education on road use, particularly sharing the road with all road users. I'm a relatively new driver and what has surprised me is the general impatience of many drivers, obviously the majority are sensible but you get some really dangerous and impatient drivers, I think it is these people who often end up in confrontations with cyclists as they are easier to blame, bully and unleash frustrations on than a car with its windows closed/able to drive away.

Eeek! Fire ravages Normanton school building - BBC News Hope everyone is safe. I also hope the backups are somewhere offsite/fireproof!

Holy cow, it's literally live data, I expected it to be at least 10-15 mins behind. I saw a plane coming over the school on the map, looked out of the window and it was right over head!

Upwords - it's similar to scrabble with the addition of being able put words on top of/across existing ones on the board.

When I started learning I used full manual mode straight away, I've used it ever since. I think it's the best and quickest way to learn, you quickly find out what works and what doesn't. As it's a digital camera you can play and experiment with settings for 1000s of shots. I think by using the other modes, you have a 'safety net' but it will hold you back.

Ah, I didn't know there was a classified here, thanks! PM heading your way. Thanks, I've submitted for a quote, I'll be interested to see what they offer vs what I'll get selling privately.
